Galaxy Domination Guide-Chapter 776 - 762 Duke Lindong (Part 1)
Chapter 776: 762 Duke Lindong (Part 1)
Laipeli Star, belonging to the Golden Crown Civilization, was an Administrative Star. Although it was not the Capital Star of the Golden Crown Civilization, it was the civilization’s largest planet, with the largest population and the greatest biodiversity. In the language of the Golden Crown people, Laipeli meant “Song of Life.” When the Golden Crown people first arrived at this planet, they were astonished by its prosperity and fertility and thus bestowed it with such a name.
In the battle for ownership of Laipeli Star, the Golden Crown people fought many wars with other civilizations, and Laipeli Star had changed hands several times, yet it remained within the Golden Crown Civilization.
After the Golden Crown people decided to join the Iridium Star United Empire, they even demanded that Star Whales be deployed to Laipeli Star first, placing their Capital Star as a secondary priority.
However, despite the United Empire deploying a large number of Star Whales on Laipeli Star, the planet was still invaded by the Swarm.
“How did those insect eggs appear?” Bai Zhongqi furrowed his brows, clearly taken aback by the situation.
Knight Xu Lanzhou, who presided over the work of the Privy Council and also managed the Joint Defense Department, came to report to Bai Zhongqi at his official residence.
“Actually, we had not received any reconnaissance reports about the insect eggs before; the enemy appeared suddenly, different from the eggs. This time, it was a large number of large Insectoids,” Xu Lanzhou explained.
Xu Lanzhou showed Bai Zhongqi a video that had been filmed on Laipeli Star not long ago. The footage showed vast numbers of densely packed Insectoids overwhelming the sky, heading toward Laipeli Star. Although Laipeli Star’s orbital defense platforms had output their maximum retaliatory firepower, the sheer number of Insectoids easily destroyed the various defense weapons.
In space, the Star Whales stationed there took the brunt of the attack; these beasts, essentially lacking conventional offensive capabilities, were quickly slaughtered by the large number of Insectoids. The Insectoids were especially brutal in dealing with the Star Whales. They charged onto the bodies of the Star Whales, using their sharp mouthparts to bite into the flesh of the whales. However, even though they swallowed this flesh, they couldn’t digest it. The Swarm’s natural aversion turned this meat into a vicious virus once it entered their bodies.
However, the Insectoids quickly realized this problem and ceased such attacks. Instead, they launched weapons similar to missiles from their bodies, shattering the Star Whales into pieces.
“What exactly are these Insectoids?” Bai Zhongqi couldn’t help but ask.
Ling said, “I’m afraid these are those evolved Insectoids.”
These Insectoids were often over twenty meters in size, akin to the size of an aircraft. Their exoskeletons came in various colors: some were dark red, some were dark green, others were pitch black, and some were dark purple. They all had a pair of insect-like wings that emitted a faint light when vibrating, allowing these Insectoids to fly at speeds possibly exceeding 100 Mach. These Insectoids were armed with multiple types of weaponry; their bodies could generate missile-like weapons, and beneath their heads were two railgun-like organs. Even from their mouths, they could emit corrosive light beams.
Essentially, these large Insectoids were like aerial and space fighter jets of cosmic warfare, and with their vast numbers, they were already a threat to many fleets.
“They jumped in here. Notice that smaller Insectoid surrounded and protected by the large group,” Xu Lanzhou pointed out on the screen. Bai Zhongqi saw an Insectoid that was about the size of a normal human, seemingly commanding the attack from within space.
Bai Zhongqi could see that this Insectoid resembled an enlarged male bee, but with only four limbs. Behind its slender legs was its insect abdomen, where he could see rings of light patterns flashing like LED lights.
“We detected a strong energy reaction on it,” could this be one of the Swarm Dukes?”
Bai Zhongqi nodded, “It’s possible.”
He picked up his Chancellor’s coat from the back of the chair and said, “I will go myself and see what this so-called Swarm Duke is capable of.”
Bai Zhongqi, Xu Lanzhou, and Zero left the official residence and boarded the Blade Empress Command Battleship, which now belonged to the Unified Empire Army, accompanied by a fleet-sized group of Unified Empire warships. The soldiers of the Unified Empire Army had somewhat become more professional, becoming increasingly familiar with their ships and weapons.
Zero also deployed tens of thousands of Star Whales. Although there were no insect eggs detected at that time, the Swarm might use these eggs for the next phase of their attack.
For Bai Zhongqi, traveling from the First Galactic Star’s spaceport to Laipeli Star only took a few minutes, mainly spent on initiating the jump drive of the fleet.
When the Unified Empire fleet arrived at Laipeli Star, there were already millions of Insectoids that had landed on this planet known as the ‘Song of Life’.
“Your Majesty, please, you must save our most important planet,” representatives of the Golden Crown Civilization were nearly in tears. The importance of Laipeli Star to them was indescribable, but now that Bai Zhongqi was personally involved, they could only hope that he would save their planet.
Bai Zhongqi simply nodded without offering any words of comfort. For him, what was more important now was how to deal with this group of Insectoids.
The moment thousands of Unified Empire warships emerged from subspace, millions of flying Insectoids had already noticed them. They roared, turning their bodies to fly toward the Unified Empire fleet.
Zero’s eyes gleamed coldly as she said to Bai Zhongqi, “Chancellor, let the fleet provide fire support. This battle, let my Swarm fight it.”
As she spoke, she had already opened subspace, releasing an equally vast army of millions of Enslaved Beasts. Until now, Bai Zhongqi still believed that the size of the second Swarm had not surpassed Zero’s Swarm, even though the second Swarm grew rapidly. But Zero had accumulated for a long time, and thanks to the reverse bioengineering approach, her Swarm also had an extraordinarily robust productivity.
To combat the flying Insectoids, Zero did not deploy the fleet but released the Diamond Beetles, who had not been used in a long while. These Diamond Beetles shared many similarities with the flying Insectoids in both size and mode of attack.
Swarms of Diamond Beetles appeared and immediately engaged in fierce combat with the flying Insectoids. Contrary to Bai Zhongqi’s expectations, whether it was the second Swarm’s flying Insectoids or Zero’s Diamond Beetles, they all launched a few distant weapons before violently engaging in close combat with each other. This hand-to-hand combat was extraordinarily bloody, Bai Zhongqi kept seeing Diamond Beetles biting off the waists of the flying Insectoids, and flying Insectoids’ claws piercing directly into the bodies of Diamond Beetles.
Massive firepower from the Unified Empire’s warships covered the battlefield, but to Bai Zhongqi’s surprise, most of the medium and small-caliber ship guns were actually blocked by the shields of those flying Insectoids, often taking about ten shots before these flying Insectoids were taken down.
“What kind of shields are they using, and why are they so strong?”
