Galactic knight: Apocalypse system Activated!-Chapter 44: Arrival at Wall Galaxy
Chapter 44: Arrival at Wall Galaxy
’[I mean it’s very much obvious.]’
Julian couldn’t hide his burning curiosity.
"Go on," he said. "We’ve don’t have all day."
’It’s clearly the orb. When I did my scan I realized that it could only be the orb as it’s the only source of power very much strong to take us out of here.’
Julian stroked his beardless chin and looked at the orb, the magnitude of the energy rippling around it making him anxious already.
’It’s a magical stuff. It takes one to Wall Galaxy as I’ve earlier told you before, but the best part about it is that it takes you to where you have in mind.’
Julian listened, throwing a glance backwards at Rehul who was very much immersed with whatever she was doing—exploring her surroundings.
"So how do I enter it?" Julian asked. "It looks like something that’ll take me to, I don’t know, perhaps kill me."
’Well, do you have an alternative?’
Julian shook his head sideways in the negative, not that Xea was physical and could see him but just that he felt like doing that.
He sighed and put on a brave face.
"Time we get out of here."
Julian walked toward the orb.
It hovered there. Still. Silent. Glowing faintly like a moon held by invisible strings.
"How do I summon it?" he asked again.
’Just place your hand on it. Pour a little bit of your energy. It should respond,’ Xea said.
Julian hesitated for only a second. He turned to Rehul who was now rooted to where she stood, staring at him.
"C’mon, let’s get out of here, I’ve found a way."
Rehul walked over to him and Julian told her exactly what Xea had told him.
She looked surprised. Not from what Julian had told her but from the orb. How it looked. How it glowed. It was simply superb.
She smiled. "Time we leave here."
Julian smiled and looked at her face. "Yeah. Time we step into the battle zone. Time I kill Commander Nethul."
Rehul smiled at the last statement.
"Since you want to kill Commander Nethul in battle, then I hope you win. Who knows, he might be one of the commanders sent to invade the Wall Galaxy."
She paused, looking into Julian’s face, then taking her stare away and focusing on the orb, she said:
"Just know he’s crazy. Very crazy. He’s capable of destroying planets alone and even with your gravitational powers, I still don’t think you stand a chance on him because well, he’s got superpowers of his own too."
Julian frowned, not that he was angry but in reminisce. Truly, Commander Nethul was a beast in combat.
From the little battle the commander fought at Zyros, he could sense how powerful he was.
Perhaps he had trained for years. Perhaps he was the head of all commanders and perhaps exploding Zyros was a slap to his face considering how powerful he was.
But that was none of Julian’s business.
He didn’t give a fuck who so ever he was. All he knew was that he is going to kill him.
Very simple.
And he wouldn’t do so on a small scale.
Hell nah!
He’d do it with the soldiers watching.
Well, he could only imagine. But he hoped it became a reality.
With that, he stepped forward and laid his hand against the orb. Rehul too did the same.
At first, nothing.
Just silence.
Then—
Cracks.
Thin, bright fissures split across the orb’s surface, glowing with a mixture of blue, white, and deep red. The sound was like glass under pressure, like something ancient creaking awake.
A low hum filled the air. Almost loud and not heavy. It vibrated in his bones, like the planet—or whatever this place was—had a heartbeat.
"Ok...," Rehul whispered, standing behind him.
The cracks widened. Energy poured out from the orb in streams of raw light, rushing into the air and forming a spiral above it.
Julian looked at it, fascinated with what he was seeing.
Well, he wasn’t as fascinated as Rehul who was almost making this mouse-like sound out of excitement.
The light spun faster and faster until it exploded outward, collapsing into a wide, glowing circle that hovered above the edge of the land.
The portal appeared!
What looked like a gate, made entirely of swirling white fire, tinged with blue edges, silent but pulsing like a living thing.
Julian took a step back.
He felt the pull instantly.
A tug—not physical, but mental. Like something was whispering to him from the other side.
Calling.
Not demanding.
Inviting.
"What now?" Rehul asked, her voice low, reverent.
"We go through," Julian replied.
"Together?"
He turned to her and nodded. "Yeah. Together."
She smiled. "Good. I’d hate to be the only one who fell into a cosmic meat blender."
Julian laughed. Not because it was funny, but because the thought felt real.
What if what she said was the truth?
Well, he didn’t want to think of that possibility. As far as Xea assured that it was safe, then indeed it was.
He took one final breath and stepped toward the gate.
The closer he got, the more his heartbeat sped up. It was not from fear of terror, but instead from anticipation.
Resolve.
"So what’s the name of the planet," he asked Xea in a whisper.
’[It’s Drayyors.]’
Julian nodded his head in the affirmative.
He found the name to be really cool.
Julian suddenly stretched his hands forward, not that it would do anything but he just wanted to feel the force that was shooting softly out of it.
He looked at Rehul and stretched his hands towards her. She took it, they looked at each other for quite some time before Julian sighed and said:
"We step together."
Rehul nodded promptly. A determined expression on her face.
And so they walked together towards the portal.
As soon as his foot crossed the edge, the fire bent inward, pulling him in like a thread through a needle.
Julian muttered the name of the planet.
"Drayyors."
It was simply a sign.
A sign to let the portal know that was his destination.
And then—
Light.
Weightlessness.
And silence.
Total silence.
That was it, they had entered successfully. They were in.
Immediately the portal closed.
Whoosh!
---
Julian landed hard. His knees hit something solid—like metal mixed with dust—and before he could even look up, the noise started.
Screams.
Shouts.
Explosions.
The air reeked of gunfire and smoke. Julian blinked twice, slowly lifting his head.
They must be Drayyors. But then not exactly the way they had expected.
Julian wasn’t surprised.
Rehul was, but then, he wasn’t.
This seemed expected to him. He had been expecting this.
Hurijaa had earlier told him that the Wall Galaxy was a galaxy were they fought like hell.
So, he wasn’t in the least surprised of this.
Well, the place was a war zone.
It was obvious Drayyors was on attack from another planet and they just landed out of nowhere into it.
The sky overhead was black and cracking with red lightning. Shattered ships burned in the clouds. On the ground below, soldiers in armor from a planet he didn’t recognize charged forward, firing plasma rifles and swinging energy swords like their lives depended on it.
Well, because it did.
Rehul coughed beside him, having landed flat on her butt.
"Where the hell are we?" she asked, already ducking as a beam scorched past her face.
Julian didn’t answer immediately. He was still looking at the commotion.
He told Xea to do a quick scan.
As he had earlier expected, it was a full-on planetary war.
He could see banners—foreign, strange, inked with creatures he had never seen before. Alien beasts roared in the distance, crashing through lines of soldiers. Mechs, towering and clunky, rumbled as they unleashed hell on their enemies.
A soldier was roaring at this point.
"More ammo needed, more ammo needed. District four as been disabled. Get ...., fuck!"
Julian didn’t even blink,he stared fixedly at the soldier.
The soldier was clothed in a silk armour, not that of a knight but instead, a well fitting armor clothing. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and his face was well visible.
He held a big gun, one that he was shooting bullets out of, wiping about twelve soldiers of the opposition.
His face was surprisingly a bit normal, though a frown but still okay.
Another beam exploded beside him and threw sand and smoke into the air.
"We need cover!" Julian yelled at Rehul.
Rehul didn’t need to be told twice. She bolted after him as he dashed behind a half-destroyed transport vehicle.
The sound of war was louder now—closer.
Someone screamed in a different tongue, a soldier flying overhead with jetpacks, throwing plasma grenades like candy.
Julian peeked out and his eyes widened. A soldier with a flaming sword ran across the field, slashing through machines like they were paper.
He turned to Rehul.
"We need to get further. If you can ride one of this vehicles, we might get out of here alive."
