Divine Emperor of Death-Chapter 4970: Evan Loret
Evan was dressed in a green robe similar to his elemental nature, and his body wasn’t too muscular nor too thin, having the right build for his age, although he tended to be on the leaner side. He possessed long black hair, and his face inched closer towards Claire rather than Logan, giving him a colder and stern look like Clara. Still, his behavior was inclined towards being gentle and soft.
Davis felt that this was one of the reasons no one doubted Evan and Laura would go that far even if they had intrusive thoughts about it, since these two were always together. Unexpectedly, they had huge guts.
Hearing about the challenge, Evan wryly smiled with a light chuckle.
He raised his hand gently with a self-pointing gesture and opened his mouth, "Brother, there are still two years left. I’m just twenty-one years old, but the challenge is promised to happen when I am twenty-three years old."
Davis finished stretching before his lips curled, "Is two years going to make any difference?"
"Of course, in two years, big brother would be busy hunting Heaven’s Warriors, and I’ll win by default."
"..." Davis blinked.
"I’m just kidding." Evan chuckled, "Naturally, two years isn’t going to make a difference to you, but it is extremely different to me. The intents I comprehend, the Laws I learn, and the techniques I master, everything will give me an edge, and our battle will further sharpen my skills even if I were to lose in the end."
Davis thought about it before he nodded.
"You’re at least eloquent, vastly different from the time I have seen you crying at the slightest provocation. Very well, we’ll have our battle in two years."
"..." Evan visibly relaxed, but the next sentence caused him to freeze.
"Regardless, I want to see your current achievements. Get ready for a practice battle and hands-on training."
Davis suppressed his cultivation to the Immortal Emperor Stage. His brows furrowed because suppressing all that prowess was difficult, but as usual, he made it seem easy as his undulations quickly fell to the Immortal Emperor Stage and firmly landed in the Level Nine Immortal Emperor Stage.
He took a look at his palm and adjusted his prowess, further suppressing himself.
Having learned Blood Laws and Chaos Laws, his control over his body had grown to a terrifying degree.
He then placed his hands over his back and gazed at Evan.
"Come."

Evan looked troubled, his gaze trying to look over to Laura for help, but not before he appeared to sigh.
"Alright, I’ll do as big brother says."
Evan raised one of his hands to the side, and a giant folding fan appeared in his grasp, "You don’t mind me using armaments, right?"
"A Low-Level Empyrean Grade Giant War Fan." Davis raised his brows as his senses fell on it.
It appeared to be half the size of Evan, making it a sweeping armament that can defend and attack at will. Its frame appeared to be forged from an alloy created from multiple ores, and the ribs were thick and sharp-edged, capable of creating wind blades.
The fan’s panels appeared to be made from emerald silk and reinforced wood.
Evan infused it with his energy, causing faint leaf-shaped motes to appear along with swirling wind currents that instantly created an invisible barrier around him. Other than that, there was a wind-attributed gemstone embedded on the hilt, acting as an energy core to aid the armament in amplifying wind energy and even help the armament spirit use more energy by itself if it could give birth to one.
Everything considered, it appeared to be made with elegance and power in mind, with an intent to use it even in the future, as the materials used on it seemed upgradeable.
"Was it made by Sophie?" Davis’s eyes gleamed with interest.
"Yes, my sister-in-law gifted me for my Coming of Age Ceremony. She gave it to me last year when I reached Level Four Immortal Emperor Stage, telling me to use it well and take care of it."
"Then you better take care of it good."
Davis raised his hand and beckoned him over.
"Here I come!"
Evan shouted as he dashed across the verdant plains, circling around Davis before he generated a greater centrifugal force and abruptly spun around, carrying his entire weight and his wind energy to swing the giant war fan.
The giant war fan cleaved through the air.
A deep whistling sound echoed across the plains as compressed wind gathered along the sharp ribs of the fan. The emerald silk panels fluttered violently yet remained firm, guiding the flow of energy and focusing it over the edges.
Evan’s swing carried the force of both momentum and technique.
A wide crescent of wind that looked no different than a wide emerald cannonball erupted outward.
The grass beneath his feet bent violently, and a shallow trench carved across the ground as the invisible blade surged toward Davis.
Davis did not move, yet the wind blade that looked like a heavy pressure cannonball reached him and abruptly... dispersed.
His body simply stood there as if he were an unmoving mountain while the violent gust split and flowed past him to both sides, scattering leaves and dust far behind him.
Evan’s eyes sharpened, but there was no surprised or shock in his eyes.
He expected this result.
Without pausing, he stepped forward again.
His body twisted, and the giant fan snapped open wider as he brought it upward in a rising arc. Wind energy surged through the ribs of the fan, and several smaller blades shot forward one after another, forming a layered assault meant to suppress movement.
Davis finally moved, his foot shifting half a step ahead.
His palm raised and flicked outward when suddenly the heavy wind blades shattered like brittle glass upon contact with an unseen force. The scattered currents spiraled upward before dissolving harmlessly.
"..."
Evan exhaled softly and pushed forward before he swung the fan again.
This time, his movements became smoother, gentler, and even almost elegant.
The giant war fan spun in his grasp like a rotating emerald wheel. Each turn gathered wind energy while the leaf-shaped motes surrounding him multiplied and began drifting around his body.
The plains reacted immediately with wind currents emerging and converging, while the gentle atmosphere became heavy.
A circular pressure began forming around Davis as the currents overlapped and compressed.
Evan stepped into the center of that pressure and thrust the fan forward.
The spinning fan released a condensed blast of wind.
Instead of exploding outward violently, it shot forward like a heavy, invisible tide attempting to press Davis down.
Davis’s brows lifted slightly.
He extended two fingers and tapped the incoming pressure, causing the invisible tide to shatter again.
However, the scattered wind currents did not vanish this time.
They continued circling while Evan’s eyes gleamed.
He raised the fan above his head and spun once more.
The previously scattered currents gathered together like a flock of invisible birds and condensed into several spiraling streams that rushed toward Davis from multiple angles.
Each stream carried tremendous weight, far heavier than Immortal Emperor Grade mountains.
The ground beneath them cracked as the pressure intensified.
Seeing this scene, Davis nodded faintly.
"Better."
His little brother was already at the level of dabbling in Divine Techniques when it came to Wind Laws. He didn’t seem to forgo comprehending Laws and mastering techniques, making him feel gratified despite all things.
His little brother at least didn’t lie when it came to the challenge.
However, this only made Davis more mad than gratified.
A vast curtain of wind erupted and folded inward toward Davis like closing jaws.
Davis stepped through it.
His movements were slow enough to observe clearly yet perfectly timed. Each step avoided the heaviest portions of the pressure while allowing the currents to dissipate around him.
"...!" Evan watched his big brother close the distance.
Davis’s hand extended as he struck the spine of the fan lightly with his knuckle.
The giant fan vibrated while Evan was forced to retreat two steps to stabilize his grip.
He immediately spun again, intending to create wind force to push himself back, when, abruptly, his shoulder was caught.
At that moment, Evan felt like a huge boulder was placed on him, making him unable to move.
Before he could realize, a fist landed right on his stomach, making his eyes bulge and his stomach cave in before he spat out saliva.
With the fist leaving, he dropped the giant war fan and fell to his knees, trembling as that punch reverberated across his body, throwing his energy circulation in disarray and his cells screaming in pain.
He didn’t cough blood, but the impact of the attack seemed to have spread throughout the body instead of being focused on only one place, making him immobile.
"Evan!" Laura shouted from a distance.
However, Davis ignored her, his lips moving, "A prowess that’s six levels higher without any bloodline or physique, much less the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill’s tempering. You got to this level just by having a Heaven-Tier Immortal Grade Spirit Attribute Source. I’m proud of you, but at the same time, this isn’t nearly enough for you to challenge me and act like you’re going to win one day when you can’t even put a dent in me while we’re at the same level of prowess."
"..."
Evan couldn’t hear properly amidst his body cowering and refusing to rejuvenate to face the opponent, but the voice was enigmatic and firm that even his soul could hear it.
He shuddered, forcefully raising his face up to see Davis.
"My big brother never refuses a challenge from his siblings and never puts them down... I get it... you’re angry... why don’t you just say it to my face and off with my head?"
Evan’s eyes turned moist as he clenched his teeth.
Davis stared at him when he raised his hand and caught the tip of a spear aimed at his head. It burst with emerald lightning and crackled with powerful thunder currents.
"Let him go..."
Laura’s expression was pale, full of fear, as she hung in mid-air. The fear in her expression turned more evident when she was unable to move the spear the slightest bit, but she still angrily stared down at Davis.
"Let him go...! I was the one who seduced him, so take it out on me!"
She roared, flipping the spear and breaking away the hold as she used the entire explosive speed of thunder and the weight of her body to turn around and attack once again, only to have her throat clenched when she made the full turn.
Davis held Laura by the throat, his palm slowly crushing her neck, making her expression rattled as her eyes turned wide with dread.
