Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 183: Clashing
The clash exploded the moment both sides collided. Steel spears slammed against the magical materials of the companions’ weapons.
The ringing of metal burst across the battlefield like a storm of sparks. Armor scraped. Blades carved through the air. Every impact produced a violent shock that echoed across the open ground before the city wall.
The armored soldiers fought in disciplined formation.
Their shields remained locked together while long spears thrust forward in sharp, controlled motions. Each soldier stepped in perfect rhythm with the others.
Their movements looked cold and precise, like parts of a well-oiled machine designed only for war.
But the nine attackers brought none of that discipline with them. They brought only raw power.
Myles and his companions smashed directly into the spear line with overwhelming force. Their strength tore apart the careful rhythm of the formation. The swings of their weapons carried enough power to shove armored soldiers backward. Every strike disrupted the carefully maintained spacing between shields.
The tight formation began to bend. Then it began to break.
The soldiers tried to maintain their coordinated movements but the nine attackers crashed into them like a raging storm. Their spears were thrusted forward again and again, yet the companions forced their way through the gaps with brutal determination.
Panic slowly began to appear among the soldiers.
But Myles and the others felt none of it.
To them, these soldiers were nothing more than enemies without souls. Just obstacles that stood between them and the strength they sought.
Myles pushed forward at the very front.
His Fangblade flashed again and again through the battlefield. He stepped between the locked shields and attacked through every opening he could find.
The moment he saw a gap between two shields, his blade slipped inside and slashed across the soldier behind it.
Sometimes he aimed higher. His blade darted toward the narrow gaps in the helmets. When he found that gap, the Fangblade or the Noctyrix dagger stabbed forward without hesitation and pierced straight into the soldier’s face.
Blood splattered across the steel armor as the soldier collapsed.
Victor roared nearby as his massive cleaver swept through the battlefield in brutal arcs.
George fought like a living battering ram. His hammer smashed down again and again with terrifying force. His swings crushed armor and sent soldiers flying backward.
"COME ON!" George shouted wildly as his hammer slammed into another shield wall.
Kade fought like a mad beast beside them. His ember-coated gauntlets burned bright with glowing heat. Every punch exploded with violent bursts of fire as his fists slammed into armor and bone.
Soldiers staggered backward each time his fists landed.
Daniel moved differently from the others.
His movements resembled Myles’ aggressive style, but his body moved with far greater agility. His twin bluish daggers flashed like streaks of light as he slipped through the battlefield.
Stab. Slash. Turn. His motion flowed smoothly into the next as he carved through enemies without mercy.
Clara stood slightly behind the front fighters.
Her frost spear spun through the air with sharp precision. The icy blade stabbed forward again and again, piercing through armor while bursts of frost spread across the metal surfaces.
Meanwhile, Ethan and Samantha fought at close range behind them.
Their bows and pistols fired repeatedly even in the middle of the chaotic melee. Arrows shot through narrow openings between shields. Gunshots cracked through the battlefield as Samantha fired into the soldiers at point-blank distance.
Fighting in close range did not hinder them at all.
Above the battlefield, Lilian hovered in the air with her black wings slowly beating against the wind.
A ball of condensed black energy gathered inside her left hand.
Her crimson eyes were not watching the battle below. They were fixed on the battlements above the city wall. Anger still burned inside her.
The earlier attack that had hit her continued to irritate her pride. Even though part of it came from her own recklessness, Lilian refused to accept that possibility.
How dare these lowly creatures hit her!
Her thoughts burned with fury as the dark orb in her hand grew larger. Black energy condensed tighter and tighter, swirling violently inside the sphere.
Then Lilian thrust her hand forward. The black orb shot across the air with terrifying speed.
On the battlements above, the leader of the mages immediately sensed the incoming danger.
His eyes widened as the dark sphere rushed toward them.
"DEFENSIVE SPELLS! NOW!" he shouted desperately.
The mages around him quickly raised their staffs and began chanting.
Lines of glowing runes appeared in the air. Multiple layers of magical circles formed across the battlements as the mages poured their Ether into the defensive formation.
Bright light surged outward.
A wide barrier of shimmering magical energy expanded above the wall, forming several overlapping shields that stacked together like layers of crystal.
The defensive spells solidified just as the black orb reached them.
Then the orb collided with the barrier. The moment of impact was strangely silent.
For a fraction of a second, the orb simply pressed against the glowing barrier.
Then suddenly it exploded.
A violent surge of shadowy mist burst outward in every direction. Thick black energy spread across the magical barrier like ink spilling across water.
The defensive spells began to rot.
The bright magical layers flickered violently as the dark mist clung to them. The black energy crawled across the surface of the barrier and began corrupting the spell itself.
The mages immediately felt the pressure.
Their bodies trembled as they desperately tried to maintain the barrier. Cold sweat poured down their faces while they forced more Ether into the failing defense.
But the corruption spread too quickly. Cracks appeared across the glowing barrier.
The mages struggled to maintain control. Their chanting grew frantic as the defensive formation began to collapse under the weight of Lilian’s power.
CRACK!
Then the barrier finally shattered.
The dark energy burst through the broken defense and poured down across the battlements. Screams of pain erupted immediately.
The shadowy mist engulfed the mages and soldiers standing along the wall. Black energy burned through their bodies like living poison as they collapsed in agony.
They fell to the ground while clutching their chests or rolled across the stone floor while screaming in terror.
Above the battlefield, Lilian watched the scene with cold satisfaction. She smirked slightly and let out a quiet snort of disdain.
Below the wall, the armored soldiers fighting Myles and his companions heard the screams echoing from above.
Some of them instinctively glanced back toward the battlements. What they saw froze their hearts.
The defensive line of mages lay in chaos. Dark energy still crawled across the wall while bodies collapsed around them.
Their commanders were being destroyed.
Fear spread through the soldiers like wildfire. Their morale shattered as dread crept into their hearts.
