Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 349: It Was You
Victor Grant hesitated for a moment and followed behind, but when they rushed in again, the scene was completely different. The courtyard was so quiet that you could hear footsteps on the ground. Victor Grant held a torch and looked around, but there was no sign of any poisonous insect, not even a fly.
"There’s a corpse inside!"
The police who rushed in first dashed out swiftly, with a face full of terror, and reported to the lead officer.
The police captain, upon hearing this, quickly rushed inside with his gun held high, and upon seeing the horrifying bodies on the ground, his expression changed too.
"Mr. Grant, why have these two bodies turned out like this?" Faced with such a ghastly scene, the captain sternly questioned Victor Grant.
Victor Grant patiently explained to them that it was the poisonous insects, but the explanation was too mysterious, even somewhat laughable. Everyone was an atheist, how could they believe this? Naturally, Victor Grant, along with May Morgan, was brought to the police station by the officers.
When taking May Morgan to the police station, Victor Grant shared the scene he saw earlier with her. May Morgan listened, feeling even more puzzled.
In just a blink, those poisonous insects vanished? Unless someone deliberately controlled them, but why were those insects not aggressive when confronting them?
None of this makes sense; who exactly killed those two people? Was it the same person who released the insects to eat the corpses?
At the police station, Victor Grant proactively took out the car’s surveillance footage as evidence. The vehicle that collided with theirs was quickly traced; it was just a rental car provided by a leasing company, rented out two days ago. The person who rented the car was quickly identified from the surveillance footage, but upon investigation, it was found that he merely took someone else’s money to deliberately rent a car. As for the appearance of that person, he knew nothing because it was all electronic transactions, so he never saw what the other looked like.
By the time this part of the investigation was completed, it was already daylight. Concerned that May Morgan might not be able to hold up, Victor suggested she go back to rest. But with lives at stake, and the two considered suspects, how could the police just let them go? Just as Victor Grant was about to reveal his identity to pressure them, the police station’s captain was suddenly called away. When he returned, he informed Victor Grant that May Morgan could be released early.
May Morgan was surprised and gave Victor Grant a look, feeling something was amiss, but she didn’t want to leave. Concerned for her well-being, Victor insisted she go back to rest, calling a bodyguard to escort her.
As May Morgan walked back with the bodyguard, she felt uneasy. While at the police station, she had already inquired about the Jade Pendant, but it was not found at the crime scene, indicating the killer’s motive was to rob the Jade Pendant.
Mentioning the poisonous insects, May Morgan’s eyes suddenly lit up, remembering someone.
She recalled her father once saying that the Jade Pendant only sealed a strand of the old woman’s spirit. If it’s just a strand, then her other soul fragments or physical form could still be causing chaos in the world today, and from the current situation, the person most capable of controlling the insects for murder must be that old woman.
But how did the old woman know the Jade Pendant was in this person’s possession? As Victor Grant explained last night, he carried the jade to find that person, intending to make a fake one. The process was very secretive, unlikely to be easily discovered, and even his subordinates were unaware of it.
If the reveal didn’t come from Victor Grant, then it must be... Mason Morgan?
Could it be he sold the information to Logan Vance?
At this thought, May Morgan drew a cold breath. She immediately shouted at the bodyguard driving ahead: ’Drive to the West City sanatorium.’ 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
The bodyguard gave May Morgan a questioning look but didn’t ask much since she seemed anxious, turning the car around and heading in the direction she indicated.
Shortly after, their vehicle arrived back at the sanatorium where Mason Morgan was, but upon May Morgan’s inspection, Mason Morgan was nowhere to be found. On inquiring with hospital staff, since yesterday after Victor Grant called someone to take Mason Morgan away, he hadn’t returned.
Where could he have gone if he didn’t come back? Could he be in Logan Vance’s hands?
Exiting the sanatorium with a headache, May Morgan got into the car, about to speak when she suddenly smelled a peculiar scent.
The scent was sweet and tempting, and after a couple of inhalations, she felt her body go limp, her bones numb.
Ambushed!
May Morgan wanted to crawl out with her eyes open, but she had no strength in her body, she wanted to shout, but her mouth couldn’t move.
The car door swung open, and the bodyguard in the driver’s seat was forcefully pulled down, and subsequently, a middle-aged man got into the car.
With her last ounce of strength, May Morgan glanced at the man in front; it was Mason Morgan!
Why, why would he do this?
"Mason Morgan, you..."
May Morgan wanted to question him, but she barely uttered two sentences before her head spun, and she felt like sleeping.
Mason Morgan turned to look at May Morgan, a sinister smile gracing his face: ’You want to ask why? First, ask yourself how you’ve treated me!’
As Mason Morgan started the car and drove ahead, he snarled at May Morgan through gritted teeth: "May Morgan, I didn’t want to do this to you, but you’ve gone too far. Your Auntie May and sister were killed because of you. I have to avenge them!"
Seeing Mason Morgan’s savage expression filled with the desire to consume her, May Morgan’s heart plunged into despair. So Mason Morgan’s scheme was behind all this, and he hadn’t truly gone mad; he was merely pretending to deceive Vincent Vance. His so-called methods were only plans to avenge Melanie Morgan and Melody White. Then, could Vincent Vance’s shooting be directly linked to him?
May Morgan wanted to ask if Vincent Vance’s predicament was his doing, but her eyelids grew heavier, and before long, she was completely unconscious.
When May Morgan awoke again, Mason Morgan had thrown her onto a large bed, her hands bound behind her with her legs tied tightly, leaving no chance for escape.
The room was silent, with no one else around, as May Morgan scanned the area, realizing she was in a hotel bedroom.
Why did Mason Morgan bring her here? If he wanted to avenge Melanie Morgan and Melody White, why not kill her or toss her into the sea to drown?
While May Morgan was lost in thought, the door to the living room outside suddenly opened, followed by footsteps.
