Chapter 339: Chapter 339: Indeed, There’s a Date

On the next evening, Vincent Hawthorne personally went to pick up Joy from school.

But Tanya didn’t show up, and it was Aunt Tawny who came to pick up Caden.

For the next couple of days, it remained the same.

Vincent couldn’t help but ask Aunt Tawny, "Is Tanya very busy with work these past few days?"

Aunt Tawny replied erratically, "Oh dear, it’s getting colder day by day. Mr. Hawthorne, you should dress warmly. Don’t freeze yourself just to look cool, plus, to be honest, you’re not that handsome. I think Ms. Sinclair’s current boyfriend, Mr. Pierce, is much more handsome than you."

Vincent slightly frowned, "...Declan Pierce, does he visit often?"

Aunt Tawny gave him a once-over, "Mr. Hawthorne, as an ex-husband, don’t you think it’s inappropriate to inquire so much?"

Vincent: "..."

Caden and Joy walked out together, chatting and laughing, with Abby walking behind Joy. Joy found her too slow and turned back to pull her along.

The two girls had obviously made up.

"Dad." Joy threw herself into Vincent’s arms.

Abby was more resistant to Vincent. Though young, she vaguely sensed that Vincent and Tanya’s divorce was unpleasant and thought Vincent wasn’t a good person.

After Abby said goodbye to Caden and Joy, she left in the car with the nanny who came to pick her up.

After Caden and Vincent bid farewell, Aunt Tawny hurriedly pulled him into the car.

Upon arriving home, Aunt Tawny was surprised to see that Tanya was not busy in the study as usual, but was instead cooking several home-cooked dishes.

"Ms. Sinclair, are you done with your work?" Aunt Tawny asked.

Tanya replied, "The project on The Veridia Project side will wrap up tomorrow. You’ve worked hard these past few days, Aunt Tawny, today I’ll cook to reward you."

Aunt Tawny waved her hand dismissively, "Oh, it’s what I should do. Besides, all I do is cook and clean. Ms. Sinclair, you already pay me so well; don’t stand on ceremony with me."

Tanya smiled and pulled Aunt Tawny to sit down, "In my heart, you’re like half a family to me. How could I stand on ceremony with you?"

After dinner, while Caden was playing on the computer, Aunt Tawny tidied up and told Tanya about Vincent coming every day to pick up Joy these days.

"He even inquired about you! I think Mr. Hawthorne regrets the divorce and wants to remarry you!" Aunt Tawny said with amusement, "He realized he needs to change course after hitting the tree! Too late! Men really are hopeless!"

Tanya smiled, saying nothing.

Now, she didn’t want to waste any time on Vincent.

That night, as Tanya had just finished her bath and her hair was half-dry, she received a video call invitation from Declan Pierce.

She answered, and Declan’s excessively handsome face appeared on the screen.

Even after being together and seeing him so many times, Tanya still had to admit, when Nuwa molded Declan, she was particularly meticulous.

"Didn’t sleep well?" Declan slightly frowned, noticing the obvious dark circles under Tanya’s eyes.

Tanya lay on the bed, "It’s been too busy these past few days, but it’s finally about to end. The part of The Veridia Project I’m responsible for will have its finishing touches done tomorrow."

Declan: "Thank you for your hard work, Team Leader Sinclair. Shall I pick you up from work tomorrow?"

"Alright." Tanya yawned.

"Meet you at the usual spot?"

Tanya gently shook her head, "Wait for me at the main entrance."

She didn’t deliberately mention her relationship with Declan because his special identity might affect her work or stir up discussions.

But now, her work was complete.

Tanya rested on her arms, looking at Declan on the screen, her eyes curving into a smile.

She secretly wished she could announce to the world that this man belonged to her...

"Why are you smiling?" Declan raised an eyebrow.

Tanya’s eyes filled with more mischief, "It’s a secret."

Declan smiled warmly and let her be.

Seeing Tanya so tired that her eyes were about to close, Declan affectionately frowned, "Go to sleep."

"Declan."

"Hmm?"

Tanya earnestly said, "Stay on video with me."

Declan chuckled, "Is Team Leader Sinclair this clingy?"

"Mm..." Tanya looked at him intensely through the screen, murmuring, "I am very clingy and sometimes pretty petty. You should be mentally prepared. If you upset me someday, I’ll hold a grudge for a long, long time."

Declan curved his lips, his look gentle and warm, as if he’d been pulled from the water.

"Alright."

Tanya was really exhausted these days.

She placed the phone by her pillow and soon fell asleep.

She had a dream where she and Declan were walking through a crowd hand in hand. Suddenly, her hand was empty; Declan had disappeared. She frantically searched through the crowd but couldn’t find him.

Tanya jolted awake, the night was still deep. Her phone by the pillow emitted a dim light, showing Declan’s face on the screen. His eyes were gently closed as he slept peacefully.

He had been with her all along.

Tanya’s trembling heart gradually calmed...

The next day, Tanya arrived punctually at the base, leading the whole team, spending the morning completing the wrap-up work.

Celine Nash, as the deputy team leader, proposed, "Everyone’s worked hard lately. Let’s all go out for dinner tonight!"

Tanya: "I won’t be going. But tonight, as you all eat, I’ll cover the bill as team leader."

"You’re not coming?" Celine Nash eyed her suspiciously, sensing some gossip, "Is it a date, or are you spending time with your two little ones at home?"

Tanya pursed her lips and smiled, admitting, "Indeed it’s a date, meeting a special someone, though...a big-sized special someone."

With Declan’s height, she couldn’t very well call him a little someone.

The team teased her playfully. They had previously joked in private that such a beautiful and smart team leader; her ex-husband was blind not to cherish her, and wondered who the lucky man would be.

Celine Nash eagerly looped her arm around Tanya, "I knew you had something going on, hurry and spill! Who is it?"

Tanya was about to "spill the beans" when her senior colleague Harrison Langdon called from not too far away, "Junior sister, Professor Carter wants to see you."
