Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 525: Desire to Act
Carl returned to the Magic Forest. He had not yet cast any spells to conceal the aura of the place where he had been.
Shortly after he left, the void suddenly split apart on both sides, like a sharp dagger slicing through space. Upon closer inspection, the edges of the rift were filled with dense runes, propping up the void channel for people from the other side to pass through.
Two figures, one after the other, emerged from the channel and looked down into the dense forest below.
"This is the place."
A female Wizard with flowing white hair spoke softly, "The aura lingered for only a short time before vanishing. That person should still be nearby."
"Hmm." Vulcan nodded. He raised one hand slightly, and a creature resembling a wriggling silkworm appeared.
"The mark of the Green family is very special. Even Divine beings would have to pay a certain price to erase it. I’m very curious how one person has managed to hide for so many years without being discovered."
"Hmm..." The female Wizard turned her head to look and said, "Is it because of this that you’re so eager to find him? I thought it was because of the Green family’s demands."
"Both reasons." Vulcan said, his expression unchanged. "For thousands of years, no core bloodline from a top Wizard family has ever been killed in the Magic Forest. If such a thing happened, I couldn’t bear the Green family’s wrath either."
"But I’m more curious about how Conni did it."
Even he would find it difficult to kill Barn and his nephew, yet Conni managed it and has been on the run for so long. But it doesn’t matter...
The female Wizard in front of him was a Third Ring, possessing the ability to manipulate space. Once they found the person, they would certainly be able to capture him. Once caught, using the methods of the Six Rings Tower, there would be ways to interrogate Conni and extract his secrets.
The silkworm wriggled, then slowly stopped its movement.
Vulcan’s expression darkened.
"Gone!"
The space silkworm in his hand was a product of the Star Realm, capable of locking onto auras. Not even a Third-tier could escape it.
But now, they could not find any trace of ’Conni’.
"That’s normal." The female Wizard said, her expression indifferent. "If he could be found so easily, he wouldn’t have only just revealed a trace now."
"Yes." Vulcan said, his face showing regret. "Let’s go back. Hmm..."
"What’s wrong?"
"There’s something at the tower."
Vulcan’s eyes flickered, then he shook his head lightly. "A small matter."
"A forgotten fringe person wants to return to his homeland and applied to me. Such a trivial matter... let him go."
Waiting for news, Carl found an uninhabited place near the tower and settled down. His neighbors were all disciples of the tower. These Wizard Apprentices were inevitably curious about him, this man from the fringes. After inquiring about his situation, they couldn’t help but feel regret for him.
He once had a promising future, but he was targeted over a small matter, and as a result, he could only return home helplessly.
The Eastern Kingdom Continent!
A Wizard Forbidden Zone.
Going there meant no further advancement on the path of a Wizard. Moreover, it was the domain of the Gods, and even Wizards couldn’t openly cast witchcraft there.
「One day.」
A male and female Wizard Apprentice came to visit.
"Senior Carl."
"My name is Berni, and this is my wife, Louise." The man named Berni, who was handsome, introduced himself while extending his hand. "We come from the same place."
"Oh!" Carl said, his eyes lighting up. "Fellow countrymen!"
"Come in and sit down."
"Yes."
The two entered respectfully. Berni also shared some good news, "I heard from my tutor that Senior Vulcan has already agreed to your request. The Star Gate will be opened soon to send you back, and I expect my tutor will notify you before long."
"Your tutor?"
"Daniel." Berni said. "Daniel is my tutor."
"Impressive!" Carl said with admiration. "Daniel rarely takes on disciples. Your Wizard Talent must be quite good; the future looks promising."
"Talent is just talent; the future is still uncertain." Berni replied humbly, shaking his head. "I have heard of your accomplishments. Although your talent wasn’t considered high, you were one of only two in your cohort to advance to an Official Wizard."
"We hope that one day, my wife and I can also become Official Wizards."
"You will." Carl nodded. "Since this is our first meeting, I don’t have much to offer, but I obtained this Jade Pendant many years ago. Please take it as a gift."
He then took out a set of Inheritance Witchcraft and, despite their repeated refusals, forcefully pressed them into their hands.
"Don’t be polite; we all come from the same place." Carl said. "Speaking of which, I haven’t been back for many years. I wonder how the Eastern Kingdom Continent is faring?"
"Is it still at war there?"
"The war is still ongoing." Louise said. "Are you from the Gando Kingdom?"
"Yes." Carl nodded, smiling. "Actually, I am also a Baron."
"What a coincidence!" Louise said, her eyes lighting up. "I also inherited my father’s baronial title. However, ever since I delved into witchcraft, I’ve lost interest in such things."
"By the time we left, much of the Gando Kingdom’s territory had already been seized by Kolon."
"Kolon’s cannons are becoming increasingly powerful..."
Although Louise was a less prominent younger member of her family, the fact that she could inherit a Baron’s title indicated the high status her family held in the Mortal World. Despite her lack of interest, her understanding of the war situation was far superior to her husband Berni’s, and she described it with greater clarity.
Carl nodded repeatedly. Following Ayala’s guidance, he had decided to leave the Magic Forest and naturally wanted to understand the current situation on the Eastern Kingdom Continent.
"Anyway..." Louise sighed. "Although there are occasional reports of victories, the Kolong Kingdom still seems to have the upper hand on the front lines."
"But as you know, mortal warfare is just a game to the Gods; the real battle is above." She gestured upwards with her hand.
"I’ve heard..." she continued, "though it’s only hearsay, that Angels and Guardians have appeared on the battlefield, and they are not just First or Second Order."
Third-tier Guardian Knights appearing on the battlefield? Carl’s eyebrows twitched. If so, perhaps the Gods themselves were now enraged, risking the conflict escalating into a direct confrontation between Divine beings?
After sending off Berni and Louise, Carl stood at his door, pondering for a long while before heading towards the Wizard Tower.
"Carl." Daniel, who was tidying up materials, turned around with a smile. "I was just about to notify you that Senior Vulcan has agreed to your request. However, you must provide the magic crystals needed to activate the Star Gate."
"Thank you!" Carl expressed his gratitude. "Wizard Daniel, I’m afraid this return journey might be my last. May I purchase some Wizarding materials and knowledge here?"
"This..." Daniel hesitated.
"Regardless, I am still a disciple of the Six Rings Tower." Carl said earnestly. "I don’t need high-level witchcraft, only comprehensive Wizarding knowledge. The Tower doesn’t restrict access to such things."
"Wizard Daniel," Carl continued, "the Eastern Kingdom Continent is called the desert of Wizards. Many Wizard Apprentices there yearn for complete knowledge. Through what I bring back, they can also glimpse the prosperity of the Kaliem Continent."
"Alright." Daniel sighed. "As long as it’s nothing restricted, I can agree. However, you will need to pay the required fees."
"Of course." Carl smiled. "Over the years, I’ve earned some Magic Stones by crafting Seals. They won’t be of use to me when I return."
He currently didn’t lack top-tier inheritances, but his foundational Wizarding knowledge wasn’t as solid. The foundational knowledge of the Six Rings Tower, compiled by several Five-Ring Wizards, would be very beneficial. Only by solidifying this foundation could he go further.
Subsequently, Carl returned to the Otherworld at intervals, recharging the Exquisite Orbs before coming back. Since his trips were brief, they didn’t draw any attention.
「One day.」
Berni came to inform him that the Star Gate would be activated the next day.
