Strongest Cultivation Swordsmanship System-Chapter 46: Murder
Xiao Ding froze when he saw how easily he could kill someone. His body stiffened in a corner and he didn’t move, afraid to disturb him.
Zhang Lucheng was sleeping peacefully in bed, unaware of the mortal danger he was in.
Seeing his enemy in front of him, Xiaotian smiled to himself.
Honestly, he didn’t think he would have the chance to kill him so soon. But since he started devising this plan, his goal was to kill this damn bastard soon.
He had many enemies in this place, even the one in the corner of the room was one. But this one was the one he hated the most among the young people.
Well... that Feng too. ’Someday you’ll die too, anyway.’
He approached Lucheng’s bed and looked it up and down.
Who would have thought? The most prominent young man of his generation would end up dying in his own bed, at the hands of his greatest enemy and rival...
Just a few hours ago, he was boasting about his power.
About his glory... Cursing Xiaotian inside.
"Life takes many twists and turns, cousin," he whispered. "You’ll have to suffer a little... you know? Before you die, you have to remember what you did to me."
His sword glinted in his hand, and a round of chilling, silent torture began...
-A round of torture that was censored for your sanity :).
-
Xiaotian wiped his blood-stained hand with a rag before putting it away.
Then he looked at Xiao Ding. "If anything here becomes known, you should know that I’m not the one who will go down. So, for your own sake, you’d do well to keep quiet."
Xiao Ding knew this. If he said anything and blamed Xiaotian for what happened... Everyone would understand that he was the cause... Xiao Ding was now between a rock and a hard place.
Speaking would not save him, it would condemn him. And not speaking... would slowly condemn him.
"Figure out how to get out of this, Xiao Ding. Don’t forget that there’s a price for what I’m doing for you," Xiaotian said with a mocking smile before jumping out the window and disappearing into the darkness.
Xiao Ding, forced to witness something so terrifying, could barely hear what he had said. But his body trembled at that moment, as a different voice reached him.
"Doctor, if it’s to heal my son, of course I’ll give you all the money you need." A man laughed, sending a chill down Xiao Ding’s spine.
Lucheng’s father, the Fifth Elder of the family!
Xiao Ding had to make a quick decision... he had to run away.
He was in serious trouble.
.
The door to the room suddenly opened. "Come in, doctor. Please use that pill."
The smile on the man’s face suddenly froze... His body trembled.
Behind him, a woman who had been walking briskly peeked in to see... Her heart couldn’t take it. A cardiac arrest killed her instantly.
--
In the Zhang family’s main room, the Fifth Elder lay on the floor with a vacant stare, his body drained of strength, and two bodies in front of him...
He... seemed to have lost everything. His soul seemed to have left his body.
Meanwhile, Zhang Hao, Zhang Fenglian, Zhang Jiang, and the other elders were also in shock.
How could this be possible?
They murdered Lucheng in the Zhang Mansion itself... In his own room!
And the way they killed him... Who could be so vicious?
"...It had to be the cursed son..." The Fifth Elder whispered suddenly, after spending more than ten minutes in silence.
The cursed son... there was only one person this guy referred to that way. Zhang Xiaotian.
"It had to be him..." he remarked again, though his voice was not as loud.
Zhang Hao had the most furrowed brow he had ever had in his entire life. But he didn’t know what to say.
Comforting a child was not something he specialized in, nor did he intend to do so. So he just stood there.
Meanwhile, the fifth elder muttered things that Zhang Hao decided to turn a blind eye to. Not because it wasn’t possible, but because this guy had always hated Xiaotian to death.
That hatred had started even before Xiaotian was born, from the moment Hutian proved to have a talent superior to his own.
Perhaps since Hutian married the woman who was his platonic love...
No one knew when it started, but because of that, whenever something bad happened, this elder was the first to come out and denounce Xiaotian, even if it didn’t make much sense.
In part, his accusations had lost their validity precisely because of that.
But now he was speaking from the heart... he honestly believed it had been Zhang Xiaotian.
That’s why he suddenly looked up.
"Father... please, Father. Give me permission to use the family troops!" he roared. "I will personally go and kill that bastard... Look what he did to Lucheng!"
Zhang Hao resisted the urge to punch this idiot... Use the family troops? To kill Xiaotian?
To kill Elder Yan’s protégé? The same one who had just received the Count’s approval to receive that award?
That would be a death sentence for themselves. Even the Emperor himself might investigate this incident, treating it as a family settling scores against a talented young man.
Even so, he resisted the urge to strike his fifth son and simply closed his eyes to calm himself. Perhaps he still had some compassion left and did not want to hurt his son’s heart when both his wife and son had died at the same time.
Soon, he opened his eyes and spoke: "Let’s wait for the Count’s verdict. We’ve already informed him; it shouldn’t be long."
His words were soon fulfilled, as the Count entered through the main door, followed by his elite soldiers. For the first time, his "butler" was not with him.
As soon as he entered, he ignored the greetings of the secondary characters and focused on looking at Lucheng’s corpse. He completely ignored the other one.
’Such a vicious murder,’ he thought and looked at Zhang Hao.
"Did your guards find anything?" he asked.
"Nothing, Count." Zhang Hao replied. "We don’t understand how it happened. Not even the cultivators noticed anything."
The Count frowned. "Was it a high-level assassin?" He said and put a hand to his chin.
A high-level assassin could indeed have evaded all security. But he was no fool; he knew that assassins weren’t the only ones capable of doing that.
There were also traitors.
And given how things had turned out, a high-level assassin would never commit such a vicious murder.
’It must have been a settling of scores.’ he concluded in his mind.
