Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 526 - 33 Departure
A group of people had gathered early at the location of the Star Gate.
As a First Circle Early Stage Wizard living in poverty, Carl could not possibly possess high-quality spatial equipment. So, he carried a wheeled suitcase and bore a heavy package on his back, making him quite conspicuous in the crowd. Unlike the others who congregated, he, an outcast, stood alone in a corner. Even those from the Eastern Kingdom cast only sympathetic glances his way, not daring to approach.
It was Daniel who took the initiative to approach. "What are your plans for the future?"
"Plans?" Carl was startled, not expecting the other to show such goodwill just as he was about to depart. But Daniel had always been a kind, albeit indecisive, person, which Carl could understand.
He replied, "Although the Eastern Kingdom Continent is a Wizard Desert, I still wish to continue researching witchcraft when I return. I’ll also recruit a few disciples. Although I can’t return myself, they can fulfill the ambitions I couldn’t achieve."
That was, of course, an excuse.
"Hmm." Daniel seemed quite satisfied with his answer. "The Source Sea Meditation Method you practice is good. Even though it increases spiritual power slowly, it nourishes the body and extends life. As a First Circle Wizard, you have a lifespan of two hundred years, um... You’re in your sixties now?"
"Yes." Carl nodded, his voice holding an unconscious note of wistfulness as he thought of his age. "Nearly seventy."
"Not so old," Daniel said with a smile. "In the next hundred years or more, you could try to learn the Second Circle Magic, Water of Life. If you successfully construct it, it can extend your life by at least another hundred years. Of course! After all, it’s Second Circle Magic. If it doesn’t work, don’t force it. Learning to enjoy life is what’s most important."
Carl nodded slowly. Daniel’s words were those of a seasoned individual, and his advice was sincere.
However, Carl was already a Second Circle Wizard and had successfully constructed the Water of Life Magic Circuit long ago. He was now contemplating the Three-rings Witchcraft, Life Source.
Once achieved, his lifespan would extend from the five hundred years of a Second Circle Wizard to eight hundred, and he could also advance his Holy Demon Transformation to the Seventh Layer.
By then, Carl planned to switch to the Fire Element legacy of the Secret Cultivation Association, as that legacy led directly to the Fifth Order.
The two exchanged whispers, with Daniel generously sharing his insights about the Water of Life.
Finally, Daniel sighed, handing over a wooden token. "After this parting, I fear we may never meet again. This is a piece of spatial equipment. Although not of high Tier, it has a substantial internal space. Consider it a gift from me."
"This..." Carl hesitated. "Is that really appropriate?"
He certainly didn’t care for such things, but this was a favor he would likely never be able to repay.
Daniel... Could it be guilt on his part?
"Take it," Daniel insisted, whispering, "You’ve suffered for so many years because of a trivial matter, and I bear some responsibility for that. Don’t worry! It won’t cause any trouble."
"Thank you," Carl sighed, casually taking something from his person as a return gift. "I can’t just accept your gift for nothing. This is my return gift. If you don’t take it, I won’t accept yours either."
"...Alright then." Daniel, resigned, didn’t closely inspect Carl’s return gift. They exchanged presents. He then taught Carl how to use the spatial equipment, helping him store all his belongings inside the wooden token.
At this moment, a stir went through the crowd; Vulcan had arrived.
The Earth Wizard Vulcan!
Peak of the Second Circle!
Judging by the fluctuations of his spiritual power, he had grown stronger and was likely only a few years from becoming a Three-Circle Wizard.
Carl’s heart stirred as he silently compared Vulcan’s abilities with those of the Divine’s Favored from the Otherworld.
At the same Second Order, Vulcan has at least two Third-tier Witch Artifacts and can easily slay restrained Middle Position Vassals. With the help of the Wizard Tower, he could contend with an Upper-level Vassal. Compared to me... Without using the Wizard Tower, even if I advanced my Holy Demon Transformation to the third level, I wouldn’t be absolutely sure of victory. Compared to Knights, Wizards are indeed stronger when at the same Order.
As his thoughts raced, Vulcan had already reached the front of the Star Gate and raised his hand, activating its operation.
Carl observed the Star Gate closely.
Unlike before, he now possessed much knowledge, including aspects concerning space. Moreover, once he advanced to the Third Ring, he would need to understand space and time if he hoped to reach the Fourth Circle. He could tell that the Star Gate was resonating with an unknown location through the Star Realm, vibrating at the same frequency.
Quantum teleportation? In the Wizard World, the transmission of particles surpasses the speed of light, ignoring physical spatial distance. There are many teleportation methods in the Wizard World, and the Star Gate is special because it can somewhat ignore the Divine Power of the Gods. Only through the Star Gate can one enter the Eastern Kingdom Continent... What a pity! Such technology has been lost. It seems that even in the Wizard World, legacies are not immune to being severed.
WHOOSH...
Soft gasps of astonishment arose.
"They’ve arrived."
Carl’s expression became solemn.
He saw the Star Gate flicker with a soft white light as figures stepped through space, appearing one after another in the area.
WHOOSH!
The light receded, revealing seven new individuals. This time, only seven had come, clearly different from usual. However, nobody spoke; their gazes all focused on a strikingly beautiful woman among them.
She possessed an ethereal beauty, like a celestial fairy!
The female Wizard at the center of the seven had raven-black hair like a waterfall. Her exquisite features were like a masterpiece, and her deep eyes seemed to hold endless secrets. As her gaze swept across the assembly, everyone, including Vulcan, instinctively lowered their heads.
A Three-Circle Wizard! Such terrifying fluctuations of spiritual power, even among Three-Circle Wizards, would surely place her among the elite. At the very least, the Upper-level Vassals Carl had encountered possessed nowhere near such might. Perhaps only a Demigod could rival her!
Vulcan recognized her, his expression changing. He spoke solemnly, "Great Dark Wizard Lisa, Vulcan welcomes your arrival. The Magic Forest is proud of you."
Lisa?
The onlookers appeared dazed for a moment, then their eyes filled with astonishment.
Was it really her? The baby girl who had left the Magic Forest eight hundred years ago due to her exceptional talent. She had married an unremarkable Wizard Apprentice from the Green family and, having been raised by them since childhood, was always considered part of the Green family Bloodline. As a result, this female Wizard Apprentice had become one of the Green family’s most dazzling prodigies in a thousand years. Peak of the Third Circle, a formidable being expected to reach the Fourth Circle! She had once accomplished the monumental feat of slaying a Fourth-tier, lower-ranking Pseudo-God on a certain Prime Material Plane, which is why Vulcan said the Magic Forest was proud of her.
"Hmm." Lisa’s expression was unchanged, her indigo Wizard Robe fluttering gently. "Have everyone withdraw. I need to cast a Spell to find the one who killed Barn and Badden."
"This..." Vulcan hesitated. "Now?"
"Right now!" Lisa’s voice was icy. "After finding the person, I need to enter seclusion to practice a Secret Technique. I will return the next time the Star Gate opens."
"Yes." Vulcan complied, then added thoughtfully, "The Star Gate needs to be activated one more time to send someone to the Eastern Kingdom Continent. I must ask Senior to wait a moment."
He then waved his sleeve. "Everyone else, leave!"
"The Eastern Kingdom Continent?" A slight ripple disturbed Lisa’s otherwise calm gaze. "Someone else is going there?"
By now, everyone else had already departed. In the presence of a Three-Circle Wizard who was unscrupulously releasing her aura, they could barely breathe, much less wait.
"Yes," Vulcan said. "That person is originally from the Eastern Kingdom Continent. Having lost hope on the Wizard’s path, he plans to return there to live out his years and, incidentally, select promising disciples for the tower."
"Hmm." Lisa made a noncommittal sound. However, she was aware that over the past twenty to thirty years, the Eastern Kingdom Continent had supplied a considerable number of talents to the Four Major Forces. Their numbers weren’t large, but almost all had become Official Wizards, and many had the potential to advance to the Second Circle. In a few hundred years, those from the Eastern Kingdom Continent might form a significant power bloc. Therefore, allowing a ’failure’ to return and expand the tower’s influence was understandable.
"Hurry up," Lisa urged.
"Yes." Vulcan complied, beckoning Carl closer.
Carl held his breath, approaching the Star Gate step by step, and bowed to Lisa and the others. His expression was calm, but inwardly he was extremely anxious. Since Lisa’s appearance, the Exquisite Orb within him, which should have lasted for days, was rapidly depleting its energy.
It seemed... to be resisting something.
Lisa merely glanced at Carl casually, allowing Vulcan to busy himself with opening the Star Gate, while she took out a crown-like object.
To evade detection, the murderer must have some means to conceal their aura, probably some kind of Witch Artifact or Curios. Once the energy of that item is exhausted, the culprit can naturally be located.
The item in her hand was Fourth-tier, originating from a certain Evil God, and could track targets through Cause and Effect.
"Hmm..." Watching the crown hover and rotate, a smile touched Lisa’s lips. Effective!
Just a few meters away from her, Carl’s eyes were downcast, appearing dull, but his entire body was taut. He could feel the energy in the Exquisite Orb within him depleting rapidly, the speed ever-increasing. In the blink of an eye, it felt as if it was about to be completely depleted.
"Hahh..." Carl exhaled a long breath, slowly lifting his head. Having experienced countless life-and-death situations, he grew calmer the more critical the moment, and he was already prepared.
If time ran out, he would directly return to the Otherworld, grind his Level to Third-tier Peak, and then return. As for the Fourth-tier... It was far too distant.
"Carl," Vulcan said. "Go ahead."
The Star Gate was already open, its halo gradually expanding.
"Yes." Carl responded. As the halo stabilized, accompanied by the sound of the Exquisite Orb shattering, he stepped into it.
Simultaneously.
"Huh?" Lisa raised an eyebrow, surprised. So close?
She could feel the murderer’s aura right beside her and instinctively glanced at Vulcan. After all, only Vulcan could kill Barn and Badden.
However, in an instant, she realized something was wrong.
"Wait a moment!" she cried. "Stop the Star Gate—"
HUM...
The starlight swirled. Carl, enveloped by the luminous halo, revealed a smile and gave a slight wave to Lisa, who was rapidly closing in.
Goodbye!
