Why Not Make Both Twins 'Girlfriends'?-Chapter 7Volume 2 .1 - Cultivating the Soil...?
Cultivating the Soil…? 1
“I’ve done my research. This spot is safe from prying eyes!”
On the Monday following the weekend, Chikage led him to the front of the hydrangea flowerbed that Tachibana takes care of after lunch.
“Hehehe… Sakuto-kun, you were troubled because you couldn’t find a place where we could flirt in peace, right?”
“Ah, that’s right.”
“That’s why I, Usami Chikage, have conducted thorough research! I’ve pinpointed where people gather depending on the season and the weather and where the blind spots are with utmost detail!”
“W-wow… that’s amazing…”
Sakuto exchanged a glance with Hikari, thinking to himself that Chikage might have gone a bit overboard, but Hikari just chuckled awkwardly.
“Take a look!”
Chikage then took out her tablet and showed them a map of the grounds.
The places marked with pink hearts were, could it be──
“Yes! These heart-marked areas are our oasis on campus──I call them ‘Lovey-Dovey Spots’! Or ‘Love Spots’ for short! Ta-da!”
” “Uuuugh…──” “
Sakuto and Hikari both held their heads in dismay, but Chikage was oblivious to their reaction, proudly setting her face in a triumphant expression.
Well, it’s true──
The three of them had been searching for places on campus where they could be together without standing out lately. So, today’s Love Spot seems to be right here.
Sakuto and Hikari exchanged a look of disbelief once the map information was shared to them.
“So, basically… this is a place where we can flirt without worries?”
“No way, isn’t that not good? It’s right in front of Tachibana-sensei’s cherished flowerbed, so we’d probably be cursed…”
Sakuto and Hikari decided to thank Chikage anyway, with gentle words like ‘Thank you’ and ‘Wow, that’s amazing’.
Then they began today’s discussion after regaining their composure.
“Mitsumi-san suggested a place for our trip last night.”
Sakuto shared the summer vacation trip with the two.
“When I mentioned we hadn’t decided on a destination yet, she offered to introduce us to a nice villa located right between the sea and the mountains──”
Mitsumi had met someone through work who owned a villa and said they were welcome to use it anytime.
The villa is located at the foot of a mountain. It’s within walking distance to the sea and also conveniently close to mountain trails.
Although it hasn’t been used in a while, the place will be cleaned and prepared for them if they provide the dates.
“──And here are the photos.”
When Sakuto showed them the pictures of the villa, both of their eyes lit up.
It’s natural. After all, the living room had glass walls on three sides designed to enjoy the four seasons, offering views of both the sea and the mountains. The interior was elaborately decorated with expensive-looking furniture.

The spacious yard had a barbecue grill and a dog run. If they had a dog, they could play ball together there.
By the way, the owner apparently has two large dogs.
“What is this place?! It’s amazing!”
“This location is perfect!”
“I want to go here!”
“I also want to go to this place!”
It was a location that simultaneously fulfilled the wishes of the twin sisters.
Above all, the fact that they could borrow it for free was a blessing for students. Moreover, they were told they could freely use anything available at the villa.
“So, it’s decided then. I’ll talk to Mitsumi-san about it.”
“Ah, did you tell her you’re going with us?”
“No, I haven’t gone that far… I just mentioned I’d be traveling with two of my male friends──”
Of course, there was a pang of guilt for lying.
But he was also curious about Mitsumi’s reaction.
Mitsumi would start grinning mischievously whenever the talk about the trip came up, yet she wouldn’t ask more questions about it.
‘Could it be that she knew who I was going with?’
This thought made Sakuto even more nervous.
“It kind of feels like we’re doing something wrong…”
Chikage chuckled softly. The sight of an honor student like her looking mischievous was unexpectedly thrilling.
“Well, maybe so…”
At least the ‘sea or mountain’ dilemma for the trip was now settled, but there was still a significant issue at hand.
“Well then, I have some business with Tachibana-sensei, so I’ll be heading over──”
“T-that, Sakuto-kun!”
Hikari called out to stop him.
“Ah? What’s wrong?”
“…No, nevermind. Take care.”
Sakuto was sent off with Hikari’s smile, but he ended up wondering what she had wanted to say as he left.
* * *
Upon arriving at Tachibana’s, Sakuto was quickly guided to a consultation space inside the staff room.
As usual, they sat across from each other at a low table, and Tachibana immediately opened her mouth.
“It seems you’ve been helping the Newspaper Club. I appreciate it.”
“Well, it’s somehow just happened, and there was also a suggestion from you, Tachibana-sensei… Still, I didn’t expect it to be that bad.”
Sakuto glared sharply, and Tachibana responded with a wry smile.
“In the end, what did you want me to do with the Newspaper Club, sensei?”
“Well, what I wanted from you was to cultivate the soil, so to speak. In other words, to create a place where you belong.”
“For me?”
It seemed like an odd thing to say.
After all, he had never established a place for himself at school. That sort of thing would be more appropriate for someone who stands out and is a natural leader.
At least, if Tachibana had looked into his background up until junior high, it wouldn’t be strange for her to understand that. It was definitely not his role.
Yet, Tachibana continued with a nod with a smile.
“I believe that club activities can be another place of belonging. Even students who feel suffocated in the classroom can find a second space where they feel at ease.”
“I understand, but there are also people who feel suffocated by club activities, right?”
“I can see your point. But unlike the classroom, you can quit it if it doesn’t fit you. If the new club is a good fit, that’s fine, and if club activities aren’t for you, then being a ‘go-home’ club member is also fine.”
“Go-home club isn’t a club activity…”
Tachibana chuckled and said, “Well, I guess.”
“Ideally, it would be great if that place could become a refuge for students or a catalyst for self-improvement. Experiencing hierarchical relationships is valuable. It’s the perfect place to meet someone different from yourself, share a purpose, rejoice together, or perhaps grieve together, and learn empathy with others. That’s what I think club activities are about.”
“I see”
Sakuto understood.
“I get your ideal, sensei. What do you think about the Newspaper Club?”
“The club president, Uehara Ayaka, is kind but timid, and at this stage, she’s not strong enough to unite the other unique members. The vice president, Kousaka Matori, has such a wild personality, and the first-year Higashino Wakana is serious but inflexible.”
Sakuto thought of the behavior of the three and couldn’t help but smile wryly.
