When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 156: The Happiness of Hearts in Harmony
The lively, cheerful atmosphere continued past eight in the evening. After they had finished most of the food, the group carried their drinks into the media room.
Blaze Fairchild took the two grandfathers, who went to bed early, back to their respective rooms to rest. Then he washed some fruit and brought it in for them.
Ethan Frost came over with his drink, stood on his toes, and hooked an arm around Blaze Fairchild’s neck. "Bro, you still have your doubts about me?"
Ethan Frost’s cheeks were flushed, and the smell of alcohol was on his breath when he spoke. He was clearly tipsy.
"Doubts about what?" Blaze Fairchild’s expression was placid.
’If he doesn’t say it out loud, it doesn’t exist.’
Ethan Frost clicked his tongue. "Tsk! None of us are going home tonight. I know exactly what my mom is planning. And I didn’t hold you back, so are you satisfied? I’m a qualified big brother-in-law, right?"
Blaze Fairchild replied, "Not bad."
"You’re so cold. My sister really has her work cut out for her!"
Blaze Fairchild was speechless.
The media room had a great sound system and was well soundproofed. Once the door was closed, not a single sound escaped.
It had been a long time since the family had a chance to truly relax. After singing until their throats were hoarse and talking until they had nothing left to say, everyone contentedly returned to their rooms to rest.
Luna Axton had slept enough that afternoon, so after staying up this late, she wasn’t the least bit tired.
Even Lucky, in her womb, was moving around much more actively.
’It’s probably because I’m so excited. My blood is pumping and my heart is racing, so it’s too noisy for him to rest.’
Luna Axton placed a hand on her belly and thought, ’Mommy’s being noisy now, so after you’re born, you can be noisy at Mommy. Then we’ll be even, okay?’
"I’m going to take a shower first." Blaze Fairchild had had a couple of glasses of red wine with the elders. It didn’t show on his face, but he smelled of barbecue and alcohol, and he didn’t want the unpleasant scent to bother Luna.
Luna Axton kept her eyes straight ahead. "Okay, I’ll just be on my phone for a bit."
She didn’t dare look at Blaze Fairchild, afraid he would get the wrong idea and suggest they shower together.
Thankfully, even after she finished getting ready and was back in bed, Blaze Fairchild hadn’t said anything that would make her feel pressured.
The night was late. Luna Axton rested her feet on a pillow, lying on her side with her back to Blaze Fairchild.
Behind her was the warmth of Blaze Fairchild’s chest.
Their pajamas were thin, and the heat from his body radiated into her, making her face and ears burn.
Luna Axton was secretly grateful that it was dark, so Blaze Fairchild couldn’t see her.
But her tense muscles gave her away. Blaze Fairchild’s self-deprecating voice held a hint of a smile. "Relax. You’re in your third trimester. I’m not that shameless of a man."
"But you..." Luna Axton shifted, her meaning clear.
It was so obvious; there was no way she couldn’t feel it.
"It’s perfectly normal." His voice was low and husky as he placed a light kiss on the nape of her neck, which smelled of body wash.
The strange sensation made Luna Axton instinctively shrink back, a soft moan escaping her lips. "That tickles~"
When she moved, Blaze Fairchild pulled back slightly, resting a hand on her waist. "It was so lively today. I was very happy, too."
His voice was very soft. In the quiet of the night, it sounded like the prelude to a lullaby, coaxing her to calm down and slowly drift off to sleep.
"In all my twenty-eight years, I can hardly remember a time as lively as this."
Luna Axton wanted to say that she hadn’t either.
But she didn’t. She just lay in his arms and listened to him speak.
"Luna, after Lucky is born, I don’t want to make his birth public. I just want him to grow up healthy and happy by our side."
"I also want to have a wedding with you. You like winter, so how about this winter?"
Luna Axton didn’t know why he was bringing this up. "Do you think we need to have one?"
"We do."
His voice was a few degrees higher as he answered, and the resulting vibration in his chest against her back let her feel his excitement.
"Then let’s do it. It’s just that after Lucky is born, I’ll have to balance my studies and taking care of him, so I might not have much time to prepare for a wedding."
Luna was so wonderful, always going along with him. Blaze Fairchild kissed the shell of her ear. "I know. When I need your input, I’ll let you know. I’ll take care of the rest of the arrangements."
"Okay."
After Luna Axton agreed, the room fell into a brief silence.
Speaking of the wedding, she suddenly grew curious about something. "If it weren’t for Lucky, what kind of person would you have married?"
In the moonlight, Blaze Fairchild’s lips curved into a wide smile.
’Luna finally asked the question.’
Blaze Fairchild mulled it over for a moment, suppressing his inner excitement, and answered her in a calm tone, "I don’t know. It would have to be someone I felt a connection with, someone easy to be around."
’If you don’t even know what kind of person you like, you’ll probably never find someone suitable through blind dates,’ Luna Axton thought.
’It’s like buying clothes. You have to have a target—a jacket, a base layer, or a shirt—before you can choose what’s right for you.’
"So out of all the people you went on blind dates with, you didn’t feel a connection with any of them?"
"No."
Luna Axton thought, ’In reality, whether he got married or not was entirely up to his grandfather’s arrangements. For someone like Blaze Fairchild, marriage was probably optional.’
’If that’s the case, then what does our connection these past few days even mean?’
’I couldn’t have misread things.’
Feeling a little indignant, she gathered her courage and asked Blaze Fairchild in a voice barely above a whisper, "Do you have feelings for me?"
The moment the question left her lips, Luna Axton instantly regretted it.
’Why did I have to ask? Whether we have feelings for each other or not, haven’t we been living together for over half a year?’
Just as she was stewing in her regret, Blaze Fairchild’s firm and resounding answer came from beside her ear: "I do."
He did!
In an instant, Luna Axton’s mind went blank. All she could feel was a warmth spreading from her chest as her limbs grew light. Her whole body felt like a balloon, floating in the air.
Blaze Fairchild had feelings for her, just as she did for him.
’This must be the happiness of two hearts beating as one!’
"It was probably that time when my mother was in the emergency room. You suddenly asked if I was in a difficult position. You were asking about my feelings. I was surprised at the time. I don’t know if you could tell?"
Blaze Fairchild’s words brought Luna Axton back down to earth, and she tried to remember.
The first image that came to mind from that night was the dejected figure of Blaze Fairchild leaning against the railing of the skywalk, smoking alone.
"I couldn’t tell. You were smoking, looking really down," she said.
That night, she had learned about Blaze Fairchild’s mother and sister for the first time, and she also realized that his need for control over her stemmed from his own inner panic.
It was also that night that she told him the baby’s nickname was Lucky.
"Before I hugged you, I had to work up the courage, terrified you would push me away."
Blaze Fairchild pressed closer, nuzzling against the crook of her neck. "I wouldn’t have. I really needed your hug, and I need this kind of liveliness, like we had today. Because of you, I’ve felt happiness."
The way he did it was like Seventh Grandpa’s little kitten rubbing against her leg, asking to be petted.
Luna Axton’s heart instantly melted.
No matter how tall or decisive Blaze Fairchild was, he was still a man of flesh and blood, with a heart that needed warmth.
She turned over and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Then I’ll hug you every day before we go to sleep and after we wake up."
She didn’t ask if that was okay; she simply made the decision.
’He likes a more assertive, more direct Luna.’
"Luna~"
In the moonlight, he cupped her face in his hands as if he were holding the world’s most unique and precious treasure.
