Wait, What You Mean I Got Reincarnated As A Heroine In Another World?-Chapter 8 - Aethelgarten III
Chapter 8 - 8 - Aethelgarten III
For what to do next, I have got no idea, perhaps I should just focus on the lesson.
Let's chat like this some other time. Honestly, I enjoyed it.
Azalea nodded and chuckled a little as she watched my write-up was floating, which I now scribbled ot under the desk to avoid getting caught by that bitchy professor.
Speaking of which, while I was talking to Azalea earlier, I forgot to ask something.
Oh right, about Professor Helena and that case. But I suppose it's not necessary since we were already told it would be discussed later in her office.
So, I continued following the lesson—though, rather than a lesson, it felt more like a game.
It was truly like an attraction,
I thought as I listened to Professor Dorothy explaining the mechanism of magic throughout a peculiar game. And this was what I've had learned from her:
"Magic isn't something you should fear, but a game of creativity for competing to be the best."
She then demonstrated a word-spelling game with papers flying everywhere, resembling puzzle pieces that needed to be solved.
From this, the impression I got was quite different from school books I had read, whereas these materials seemed so tedious and serious, let alone my previous world whereas homeworks were abundant and all of things should have learned throughout rigorous methods.
In here, it was the polar opposite—it looked to be quite intriguing instead of boring.
It's still presented as serious, but in such an engaging way that learning felt handy. No wonder this academy had such incredibly difficult entrance exams; their principles seemed to align with the "work hard, play hard" system—struggle first, enjoy later. A system where students were also rewarded for their skill in tackling eccentric questions.
Beside me, Azalea grinned, watching me as I had been in awe of the lessons given.
Hadn't I witnessed on what was happening at the banquet hall, I would have been captivated. But such an incident made me think twice seeing her eyes sparkle like this.
As if she had found her lost toy again.

I mused to myself while observing the ongoing lesson, which now focused on magical mythology using something eerily similar to a PowerPoint presentation.
Maybe magic and the real world aren't so different after all.
Once again, I was left astonished by new discoveries.
Meanwhile, that cold yet uncannily kind-hearted girl was now smiling like a lunatic idiot.
Not so long after, the lesson had ended. Students began heading toward the banquet hall. As for me and Azalea, we had to fulfill the professor's request.
Oh right, what was her name again? Azalea called her Professor Helena.
But isn't Helena supposed to be a first name?
"So, did you enjoy the lesson? Or were you just pretending?" she asked with a small laugh.
"Huh? Wasn't it fun?"
"Yeah, but don't get the wrong idea."
"What do you mean?"
"Magic is dangerous," she said bluntly, her face turning serious again—cold and composed, like the Azalea I knew.
"What makes it dangerous? Or did something happen before?" I asked, my curiosity gnawing at me like an itch I desperately wanted to scratch.
"Kairi..."
She suddenly stopped walking and stared deep into my eyes.
"You are the living proof of that danger, Kairi Eryndell Veylith."
Wait for a second. There has been a few questions in my head soon after hearing that statement of hers. First of all... 'living proof of that danger'? What did that even mean? And second, where's "Selene"? Wasn't my name supposed to be Kairi Selene?
Once again, my thoughts raced, both restless and confused about what was actually happening. Or rather, what was about to happen sooner or later.
"Does this have something to do with the 'case', Aza—hmmph!"
She swiftly covered my mouth with her right hand, while her left hand gripped mine tightly.
"Shhh, be quiet. Do you want to get arrested by the International Magic Association?" she whispered, glancing around at the other students.
I shook my head while my mouth was still muffled.
But soon, she let go, and I could finally breathe freely again.
"Good. Now, let's hurry to the professor's office."
I gave a small nod.
We rushed toward her office, and as we arrived, I noticed the unique crystal ornaments decorating the doorway, shimmering in rainbow hues.
Then, the female professor appeared before us, her form assembling like fragments of glass reforming into a tall, elegant figure. Fine wrinkles traced her face, yet her hair remained dark despite her aged appearance. She exuded grace and authority, carrying herself with an effortless wisdom befitting a professor.
HELENA MYRA LOVECRAFT
Another new name resurfaced in my mind. Lovecraft? Is she related to Azalea?
I nearly gasped aloud, overwhelmed by my curiosity about their connection.
"Kai— I mean... ahem, M-miss Veylith. How are you today?"
She seemed uncomfortable saying my last name, as if something felt off when she did.
"Sis, stop bringing yourself forcefully like that. Just call her Kairi already."
"I CAN'T DO THAT. I have to remain professional. Especially with you, Miss Lovecraft."
"Oh, come on. There's no one else here, just the three of us. Why should you make things so complicated for three of us? After all, we aren't that distant to each other"
She sighed, hearing such a convincing argument. "Alright. Fine, you win this time."
HOLD ON... WHAT? SIS?!
I stared at them in astonishment. All of these were way too all of a sudden.
"So, you indeed lost your memories, Kairi."
Azalea turned to me, my mouth now agape.
I could only nod, utterly confused on what to respond.
"You look kinda cute when you're this confused. Sherrie was right," she teased.
I could only blush in embarrassment.
"Hey, you two. Can you stop flirting? You both look like loverbirds already."
"Oh sis, if you're jealous, just say so," Azalea teased, hugging me tightly while I was still too stunned to process everything.
Wait. no—we're both thirteen! Dating? And we're both girls!
"Enough, Azalea. I need to speak with Kairi in-private. Now."
"Aww, sis, you're no fun!"
This was completely different from the usual Azalea, now childish and clingy.
Maybe it's just puberty. I rationalized, trying to convince myself that this side of her wasn't real. And then there was Professor Helena, being unexpectedly comedic.
"Seriously, you were only supposed to bring her here. Now go away, scram. Shoo. Or if you want, just wait outside while I'm going inside with your fair lady."
"Ugh, so mean. I'm gonna report you to our mom."
"Go ahead. I knew you were bluffing."
"Grrrr..."
These two sisters were brutally honest with each other despite in front of me.
"Hey, Kairi, just so you know—Helena is actually only eighteen. She just hides it because—mmpphhh guhukkk guhukkk!"
All of a sudden, something stuffed Azalea's mouth.
This comedic scene then escalated as the stuff gagging her wasn't an ordinary cloth or some cheap object, but a transparent crystal that looked incredibly expensive.
You could imagine how bizarre it was—witnessing someone getting gagged by something that is formless, nearly invisible, especially to the point of choking.
Was this karma? Maybe. After all, she was the one who had covered my mouth earlier.
"Alright. I suppose that's enough of 'assist' from you today, Miss Lovecraft. So, thank you very much for your help. Kairi, please enter my office," Helena said with an irritated smirk.
I walked past Azalea, who still looked like she was suffering.
I hope she's okay, I thought, feeling a bit sorry about her.
"Don't mind Azalea. That was normal. Now, come in."
Hold on, what the f*ck do you mean by normal?!
She opened the door casually, as if nothing happened, leading me to her room.
Had an ordinary human been gagged like that, they would've died on the spot.
I thought as I stepped into the room, unsure of what had been awaiting for me next.
