Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 395 Trial of Sato Ichiro
Standing before Sato Ichiro, a hint of disdain shone in Lin Kuang's eyes. "Didn't you believe me when I called you a frog at the bottom of a well? Do you believe me now, you pathetic little frog?" he said mockingly.
The next moment, Lin Kuang subdued Sato Ichiro and began driving him toward the East Sea Military Region. He arrived back at the base an hour later. Upon his arrival, Lin Kuang noticed signs of a battle, with some areas clearly damaged by grenade blasts. He immediately realized that Wei Anguo and the others must have heard the news and tried to flee, instigating the firefight.
I hope Uncle Yang is alright.
Lin Kuang exhaled softly and stepped into the building.
His guess was correct. Wei Anguo, Zhou Qi, and the others had indeed learned of Inoue Kenta's capture, and they had panicked. If Inoue Kenta exposed them, they would be finished. If not dead for certain, they would be very close to it. Because of this, they hastily conferred and attempted to escape with a few trusted aides. However, Yang Wucheng had been prepared. How could he possibly let them leave?
Fighting for their lives, Wei Anguo and his group certainly wouldn't surrender without a struggle. Besides, they were already fully exposed; staying would mean certain death. Thus, a battle was inevitable, and the two sides engaged in combat. As one might expect, Wei Anguo and his small band of loyalists were no match for the powerful Yang Wucheng. Their defeat and capture were all but guaranteed.
Yang Wucheng himself was alive and well, but the anger in his heart had reached its peak. He found it incredibly hard to believe that the men who had followed him for so many years had become traitors and spies. Of course, as reluctant as he was to believe it, the facts were right before his eyes, leaving him no choice but to accept them.
At that moment, a knock sounded on the interrogation room door. Yang Wucheng opened it himself to find Lin Kuang standing outside.
"You're back. Is everything alright?" Yang Wucheng asked, but the smile he offered was strained.
Seeing the situation in the room, Lin Kuang naturally understood what had happened. "Uncle Yang, some people's hearts have been blinded by personal gain. Such people are not worth your sorrow," he said, gently trying to comfort him.
"You're right. Still, it's painful. They were with me for so many years, and I cared deeply for each of them," Yang Wucheng said with a bitter smile.
Lin Kuang nodded in understanding. Betrayal by subordinates would unsettle anyone, but for an emotionally invested man like Yang Wucheng, the blow was especially severe.
"Alright, don't worry about me. I'll be fine in time. This is Sato Ichiro, right?" Yang Wucheng asked, his gaze falling on the man Lin Kuang was holding.
Lin Kuang smiled and nodded. "Yes, this is Sato Ichiro. I captured him alive."
"Very good. Let's hand these matters over to the higher-ups. There's no point in interrogating him further. Since he's a Colonel, this operation, just like the one in Nanjing, was orchestrated by the Island Country's military. It seems that after acquiring the Biochemical Virus, their ambitions have swelled," Yang Wucheng said flatly, his tone cold.
"Indeed. Those warmongers from the Island Country deserve to die. It's like they don't even know the meaning of peace. Is aggression really that important to them?" Lin Kuang asked, finding it hard to comprehend.
"Not exactly," Yang Wucheng explained with a small smile. "For the pro-war faction in the Island Country, the last great war was a disgrace. They want to eradicate us to wipe away their past shame. Now that they have the Biochemical Virus, they're desperate to do just that."
People had grown accustomed to peace. After all, wars were still being fought elsewhere with daily casualties, and ordinary people undoubtedly suffered the most. Moreover, if a full-scale war truly broke out, it wouldn't be a simple conflict between Hua Country and the Island Country. More powers would likely get involved, making the situation far more complex than it appeared on the surface. Of course, if the Island Country remained obstinate, no one doubted that Hua Country, with its unyielding stance, would certainly annihilate them.
Hearing Yang Wucheng's words, Lin Kuang nodded. "I understand. Uncle Yang, I want to interrogate Sato Ichiro. I need to know where they're developing the Biochemical Virus. If possible, I want to find the source of the virus as soon as possible to extinguish the Island Country's ambitions and make our nation safer."
Yang Wucheng was startled for a moment, then nodded. "Right, I almost forgot about that. Go ahead, interrogate him now. See if he knows where that lab is."
"I'm on it," Lin Kuang said with a smile. He dragged Sato Ichiro into the room and tied him securely to a chair. After checking his mouth to ensure he had no hidden poison, Lin Kuang, reassured, then woke him.
After a moment of disorientation, Sato Ichiro took in his surroundings, and his expression turned ugly. His gaze fell on Inoue Kenta, and his eyes filled with intense killing intent.
"Inoue Kenta, you damned traitor! How dare you betray the Empire! You will not die a good death!" Sato Ichiro bellowed, looking as if he wanted to devour Inoue Kenta whole.
Inoue Kenta merely gave him a cold smirk and a fleeting glance without a word. Wait until you can endure that kind of pain before you try to lecture me.
"Quiet down, Sato Ichiro. You're a prisoner now," Lin Kuang said calmly, looking at the enraged man.
"Pfft! If you're going to kill me or torture me, get on with it! I will never submit!" Sato Ichiro spat a mouthful of bloody saliva at Lin Kuang, a mocking sneer on his face.
Lin Kuang leaned slightly to the side, easily dodging the spatter. "Is that so? Remember your own words. You said you won't submit. If you break later, I'll really look down on you," he said, stepping in front of Sato Ichiro with a sly grin.
Seeing the grin on Lin Kuang's face, Inoue Kenta, who was watching from the side, turned pale. His eyes filled with horror. Lin Kuang had worn that same expression right before torturing him, and the memory of the agony still terrified him.
Sato Ichiro, however, was merely puzzled by Lin Kuang's smile, not understanding the threat behind his words. He scoffed, "Don't worry, I won't submit. You won't get anything from me!"
