The Fortunate Demoniac Little Village Doctor-Chapter 1477 - 800: Furnace, Part 3
Lin Feng clenched his fist, cast a cold glance at Zhou Li, and waited quietly to see which academy he would enter.
Zhou Li, as per the procedure, placed his hand into the Star Furnace.
The flame creature in the sky opened its mouth and said, "Hmm... Very good, very good, quite talented, such a person should be... the Tianji Academy!"
Lin Feng watched Zhou Li being sent away but did not feel jealous. He knew others had their paths, and he had his own path, firmly believing his path would be better than that of such trash as Zhou Li.
"Hmm... Not bad either, needs more training, so go to... the Kaiyang Academy!"
With the recognition of the Star Furnace, students from the upper and middle academies were quickly selected one by one. Some left the Star-Gazing Pavilion, while others were chosen as formal disciples, without exception, reaping immense honor and a warm welcome.
"Lower Academy! Lin Feng!"
Upon hearing his name, Lin Feng gathered his spirit and, encouraged by the disciples from the lower academy who followed him, walked step by step onto the high platform with his head held high.
Lin Feng stepped onto the high platform and first bowed three times to the Vice Sect Leader, who responded with a gentle smile and nodded.
Suppressing his wildly beating heart, Lin Feng walked towards the Star Furnace. These few short steps had taken him ten whole years to traverse; it was terribly far, but fortunately today, the journey’s end was right before him. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Lower Academy, Lin Feng, extend your hand." Vice Sect Leader said solemnly, his face severe, speaking to Lin Feng.
This was Lin Feng’s first clear view of the Star Furnace. The world’s treasures are divided into Mortal Artifacts, Treasures, Treasures, Spiritual Artifacts, and Soul Devices. The one before him, surrounded by seven stars and with flames soaring, was—a Soul Device with autonomous consciousness.
Flames soared three meters high above his head, flickering restlessly, rooted through the furnace’s lid by only a thin line of fire connecting into the furnace. Lin Feng peered into the furnace, blazing with fire, anxiety-ridden, and reached his hand inside, hoping for the Star Furnace’s approval.
Time ticked by, but the Star Furnace made not a single sound.
Lin Feng’s heart sank to freezing depths; he seemed to hear Zhou Li and others’ derisive laughter and the sighs of his fellow lower academy brothers.
"Alright, lower academy Lin Feng, you can leave Xuanxing Mountain now." Bai Shanhe, who had always held contempt for those from the lower academy, coldly said to Lin Feng, face iron-hard.
Lin Feng refused to accept such failure. He had endlessly strived for recognition, eaten so much bitterness, only to end with a destiny of being expelled from the mountain. He refused to accept it!
"Humph! A wretch should just die early, wasting ten years’ worth of Star-Gazing Pavilion’s food, still not satisfied? Get your hand out quickly!" Bai Shanhe glared, reaching to grab Lin Feng.
Just as Bai Shanhe touched Lin Feng’s body, the winds suddenly changed, the flame in the sky let out a giant screech, swirling and converging in an instant, condensing into a glaringly bright fireball, suddenly crashing down towards Lin Feng.
Never having witnessed such bizarre scenes, Bai Shanhe immediately withdrew his hand, leapt backward astoundingly. Meanwhile, Bai Shanshi, seated on the high platform, stood almost simultaneously, flew towards Lin Feng. A flash of light, Bai Shanshi reached Lin Feng’s standing spot, reaching into the fireball to grasp but ultimately a step too late; where Lin Feng stood was empty, the solidifying fireball abruptly restored into its original monstrous face form, hovering in the air, as if nothing had happened.
Typically composed Bai Shanshi involuntarily showed a face of worry, perhaps a hint of confusion. Just as Bai Shanshi frowned in puzzlement, a wave of exclamations erupted from the lower academy disciples under the platform, all pointing at the screen projected into the sky from the Heavenly Earth Phenomenon Instrument.
Bai Shanshi and Bai Shanhe all turned their gaze skyward. The originally eight-image sky screen now showed a ninth image—chaotic venomous vines, pervasive miasma, unnamed insect-serpent beasts crawling upon bizarre, eerie stone cliffs, all things leaking an aura of death, and at the center of the image, a massive black vortex was slowly forming.
