The Villain Is Destined to Die: But as the Creator, I know All Endings-Chapter 241: Day - 2: What do you mean ‘jump’?! [1]
"You think we are heading in the right direction?"
Cyan asked Ethan. Both were in the captain’s room, Ethan was standing close to the captains and guiding them to the route.
The prism was in his palm, displaying a full holographic map of the entire sea ahead. The more they headed straight toward the point marked on it, the more the map pulsed with a steady ripple. Ethan could even feel the vibration getting stronger with every passing minute.
"Yes," Ethan said, glancing at the open sea ahead. "Just seven more kilometres."
There was not a single piece of land in sight. No matter how far his eyes reached, all he could see was water in every direction.
"Hmm." Cyan looked at the holographic map in Ethan’s hand. "Are you certain? Because there is nothing ahead as far as I can tell. Maybe I am just overthinking it."
The map said otherwise.
Right ahead of them, it showed a humongous piece of land stretched across hundreds of kilometres in diameter.
But the sea ahead told a completely different story.
’Is this thing underwater?’ Cyan guessed.
It was possible. Because if the map was accurate, their ship should already be floating directly above Evana City right now.
He raised his gaze to Ethan’s face.
Ethan looked serious and confused at the same time, staring at the open water ahead with an expression that had been sitting somewhere between focused and troubled for the last several minutes.
’Don’t tell me he is suspecting it too.’
Cyan sighed and tapped him on the back.
"It is fine if we do not find it," he said. "I will not complain. If anything, I enjoyed the journey getting here."
Ethan side eyed him and scratched his cheek after getting a proper look at Cyan’s face.
"Haha. That is not really the issue here though."
"Hm? Then what is?"
Ethan looked ahead again, a little nervously this time, and muttered.
"You will find out soon."
Cyan narrowed his eyes at the side of his head.
’This guy is weird.’
He genuinely was. Just last night Cyan had watched Ethan identify exactly which box held the Elven Mana Core without opening a single one, just by looking at them. As if he could see straight through the material without trying.
Cyan had not said anything about it at the time. But he had not forgotten it either.
And Leon...
Cyan glanced through the glass toward the front deck of the cargo ship.
Leon was standing there, chatting with several guards and labourers of Ayaka Rudward with the confidence of a king. As if he owned the whole damn place.
And the funny thing was, those guards were actually following his orders without asking a single question in return.
"Haah..." Cyan let out a tired breath.
This person had already taken control of the entire ship within a couple of hours.
’How did he do it though?’ Cyan did not know.
But he had heard the captains referring to Leon as something like... boss lady’s mistress.
"...What did you do to make them call you that?" He muttered to himself.
* * *
[One hour had passed]
Ethan gazed ahead at the sea from inside the captain’s room, then back at the holographic map in his hand.
The map said that the entry point to the city was somewhere just 500 metres ahead of them.
He looked toward Leon, who was in the Swordmaiden’s avatar right now, standing alone at the tip of the ship.
With his bare eyes, Leon looked as if he could gaze several kilometres ahead of him.
’This is strange though...’ Ethan thought to himself as he noticed a change in Leon’s mana core.
Unlike last night, his mana was continuously depleting, as if he was running several skills at the same time right now.
The sun was still up, but Leon had not let go of his appearance and was looking tired.
Unlike Ethan and Cyan, his alteration came from one of his skills which even changed his body figure and metabolism to whatever he wanted. Ethan and Cyan on the other hand were using high quality magitech, which only changed their hair and skin tone.
’Looks like he will last only three more hours.’
Thinking that, he noticed Leon gesturing at him from below.
"...?"
He was telling him to halt the ship.
"Ah."
Ethan turned to the captains. "Throw the anchors right this instant."
"Huh...?!" The captains went alarmed but did not question him. They slowed the cargo ship with a little jolt and let the anchors fall.
"One of you, come follow us," Cyan said to the nearest captain. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Ethan nodded to Cyan and opened the door.
One captain followed them outside. He did not know what they were planning, but knowing that the white haired boss lady’s mistress had given the order, it had to be something important.
In fact the captain was quite happy following her orders. Knowing that she was close with Lady Ayaka, he might even get promoted to operate on her private ship if he just did as he was told.
As they walked down the stairs, they saw Leon already walking toward them with her hands tucked under a long white fluffy coat that covered her body down to her exposed knees.
The captain’s eyes first landed on Leon’s knees. It looked divine to his eyes.
"Are we getting down here?" Ethan asked Leon.
Leon nodded and spoke in Lumina’s voice. "I have asked the guards to lay out a boat for us. We can use it to cover the rest of the distance."
Then he glanced at the captain.
For some reason the man was staring at Leon’s legs.
’Ugh... fucking pig.’
Leon covered them momentarily, which startled the man.
"Cough...! Ahem... Madam Boss Lady’s Mistress, did you enjoy the journey?"
Leon’s eye twitched. He wanted to throw this man out as shark food, but he did not want to annoy Ayaka any further, so he tried his best to be polite.
"Enjoy?" He sneered with Lumina’s face. "I indeed did. After skinning those pirates last night, I am much more satisfied."
"...Oh... uh... g-glad you enjoyed it."
The captain gulped hard. He made a mental note to himself to never glance at any lady’s bare legs again for as long as he lived.
’Scary...!! She is damn scary!’
Before heading toward the boat, Leon turned to the captain one last time.
"Make sure you deliver that letter to Ayaka."
The captain nodded and bowed deeply.
"Rest assured, Madam Boss Lady’s Mistress."
"..."
Leon stared at him for a moment.
He did not like that title even a little bit.
"Haah..." Leaving the captain behind, Leon gestured at both Ethan and Cyan. "Hop on the boat and start sailing."
"..."
"..."
For some reason Leon had been acting quite bossy toward them both lately. Cyan felt like he had gotten a little too comfortable in his character.
The sun was still up but the weather had taken a turn for the worse. It was not raining, nor was it storming, just unsettled in that particular way that made everything feel slightly more difficult than it needed to be for them.
The boat shook over the waves as Ethan and Cyan worked the oars.
"Hey, why are we shaking this much?"
Leon asked in Lumina’s tone, sitting gracefully on the floor of the boat with both hands resting in his lap, watching Ethan and Cyan do all the work.
They were still within sight of the cargo ship. The captain and the guards could still spot them from the deck if they looked. Leon had roughly fifteen more minutes before they drifted far enough out of their line of sight.
For now he decided to rest.
He genuinely needed it to be honest.
Continuously running his appearance skill alongside [Command of Grace] on several guards who had started to look at him a little too suspiciously had drained him more than he wanted to admit. His mana was sitting at a level he was not comfortable with.
Without the moon his reserves could not refill either.
