Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 63: Hospitalization Required for Pregnancy Protection
Zoe Monroe was hit on the head, and was dizzy for a while. She rubbed her head and looked at Vera Yves with concern, "Vera, are you okay?"
Vera Yves wanted to answer but suddenly blacked out and fainted.
Zoe Monroe hurriedly took out her phone and dialed for emergency assistance.
...
When Vera Yves woke up, she was in the hospital.
Miles Monroe was by the bedside. Seeing her awake, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Is there anywhere else you’re uncomfortable?"
Upon hearing his voice, Vera Yves seemed to finally come to her senses, instinctively placing her hand on her abdomen.
Miles Monroe noticed her action and said softly, "Don’t worry, the baby is fine, but there are signs of a threatened miscarriage. You need to be hospitalized for observation."
Vera Yves breathed a sigh of relief, "How about Zoe?"
"She’s fine, don’t worry."
Vera Yves was silent for a moment, "I don’t want others to know about my pregnancy yet."
Miles Monroe nodded, then suddenly asked, "Does Winston Valentine know?"
Vera Yves shook her head.
Miles Monroe looked at her pale little face, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
"The driver who caused the accident has been caught, it was drunk driving."
Vera Yves thought about the direction the car came from; it didn’t seem like normal driving, nor did it seem like drunk driving—it was clearly aimed at her.
"Vera!"
Hannah Hayes hurriedly entered the ward, quickly walking to Vera Yves’ side, checking her for injuries, "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Vera Yves shook her head, "Mom, I’m fine."
"The car bumper was knocked off; are you really okay? Could there be internal injuries? Did the doctor examine you thoroughly?" Hannah Hayes spoke, her eyes turning red.
Harry Yves followed alongside her, also showing concern, "Yes, should you have another detailed examination?"
"Uncle Yves, Aunt Hayes, rest assured, the doctors have conducted thorough examinations on Vera, her body is not seriously harmed."
"That’s good."
Miles Monroe looked at Vera Yves, "I have something to deal with; I’ll visit you again tomorrow."
"Zoe said your flight is tomorrow afternoon; I’m fine. If you have things to attend to, there’s no need to specially come to see me."
Miles Monroe hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Okay."
Vera Yves watched him walk towards the door, hesitating for a few seconds, "Miles, have a safe trip in advance."
"Hmm." Miles Monroe glanced at her again before leaving the ward.
After Miles Monroe left the ward, Hannah Hayes finally spoke, "Where’s Winston? Why isn’t he here? Does he not even know you were in a car accident?"
Hannah Hayes pulled out her phone to call Winston Valentine, but Vera Yves held her wrist, "Mom, I’m fine; there’s no need to call him over specifically."
Hannah Hayes looked at her disapprovingly, "True affection is shown in times of adversity; do you know? If you don’t act helpless now, how will you enhance your relationship with him?"
"Mom!" Vera Yves turned over, facing away from her.
Hannah Hayes said helplessly, "Look at Cecilia Vaughn; sometimes women need to be a little softer for men to feel for you."
Outside the inpatient department.
Winston Valentine stood outside his car, watching people come and go at the building entrance, his stern face expressionless.
Walter Lowell hurriedly approached.
"President Valentine, Mrs. Valentine’s health is not seriously compromised, but the doctor said..."
Winston Valentine’s face darkened, "Said what?"
"Mrs. Valentine shows signs of a threatened miscarriage; she needs hospitalization to protect the pregnancy."
She’s pregnant?
Winston Valentine couldn’t describe his feelings at this moment.
Does Vera Yves know?
Almost certainly, if she knew, she’d be expecting this child.
Winston Valentine couldn’t help but recall, more than three years ago, when he first learned she was pregnant, he actually didn’t have much reaction; he didn’t have any expectations for the child in her belly.
Even when she told him the pregnancy was a false alarm, he felt secretly relieved.
But now...
Winston Valentine thought of the first time he met Vera Yves.
After a boring Chinese class, as he stepped out of the classroom, a lollipop appeared in front of him.
He followed the lollipop downward and saw a girl whose height didn’t even reach his chest, with big shining eyes full of anticipation looking at him.
"Brother, can you help me call Miles Monroe from your class?"
Afraid he’d refuse, she waved the lollipop in her hand, "I’ll give you a candy!"
He frowned at the little girl in front of him, wanting to ignore her.
She blocked his way again, earnestly saying, "It’s strawberry-flavored, very tasty; if you don’t believe me, try it!"
Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, she widened her eyes.
He had no choice but to turn around and tell the person behind him, "Go call Miles Monroe."
Trying to leave, she blocked him again, unceremoniously stuffed the lollipop into his palm, and smiled sweetly at him, "Brother, thank you; you’re really nice!"
Perhaps her smile was too sweet at that time, which made him remember for many years.
If it’s a girl, would she be as adorable as her?
He didn’t reject this child; he even felt a faint anticipation.
"President Valentine, Mrs. Yves and Mrs. Valentine’s samples have already been sent to the identification center; the results will be out by midday tomorrow at the earliest."
Winston Valentine came back to his senses and nodded.
Walter Lowell continued, "The driver who caused the accident has been detained; however, upon investigation, he is under Manager Sterling’s command."
His voice was already very low by the end.
Henry Sterling?
Winston Valentine’s dark eyes deepened, a faint killings emanating from his eyes.
"You go back to the company first."
Walter Lowell accepted the order and left, while Winston Valentine opened the car door, sat in the driver’s seat, and started the car.
Samantha Warren watched the car leave, only then came out from the side; she initially wanted to greet Winston Valentine but didn’t expect to overhear these words.
Why is Winston Valentine, perfectly fine, doing a paternity test for Vera Yves and her mom?
Samantha Warren snapped back to reality, hurriedly walked into the inpatient department, and rushed upstairs.
Winston Valentine drove to the outside of The Shelby Group Tower.
No security dared to stop him when they saw him at the entrance.
Winston Valentine went straight to the general manager’s office; the man sitting in the chair stood up when he saw him enter, "Winston, how come you didn’t inform me ahead..."
"Bang!"
Henry Sterling was struck and staggered backward; he rubbed his lip corner, still wearing a smile, "Winston, whatever the issue, we can sit down and talk..."
Winston Valentine grabbed him by his collar, "What sort are you to sit down and talk with me?"
Henry Sterling still looked at him affably, "Winston, there are so many eyes watching outside; don’t let outsiders see and laugh."
Winston Valentine glared at him coldly, "You touched my people, you’re courting death!"
"Bang!"
Henry Sterling was kicked out by Winston Valentine, collapsing on the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
"Aren’t you good at fighting? Fight back!" Winston Valentine pulled him up from the ground and was about to throw another punch.
"Stop!"
Melinda Shelby entered the office, glaring at Winston Valentine with anger, "What do you think you’re doing?"
Her assistant hurriedly closed the office door, respectfully standing outside.
Winston Valentine let Henry Sterling go, stood up, and looked at Melinda Shelby, "It’s nothing more than teaching a dog a lesson; is it worth Mr. Shelby getting so upset?"
Melinda Shelby looked at the wounds on Henry Sterling, her face steady, "Apologize to your Uncle Sterling!"
