Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 64: You Can Only Be Mine
Winston Valentine flexed his joints a bit, sneering coldly, "He’s not worthy."
"Winston Valentine!" Melinda Shelby glared at him, "Don’t you remember what you said before? Are you sure you want to cause trouble with me over a woman?"
Winston Valentine loosened his tie, his expression no longer so tense.
"Don’t tell me you want to help your father marry that woman with the last name Sutton into the house?"
"I won’t let a woman with the last name Sutton into the house," Winston Valentine said calmly, "Vera Yves has nothing to do with these matters, don’t touch her."
"Your father is willing to ruin a five-billion project for her clinic!" Melinda Shelby sneered, "Winston Valentine, don’t tell me you’re unaware!"
Henry Sterling walked over to Melinda Shelby, gripping her shoulder, "Don’t be angry, it’s bad for your health."
Winston Valentine looked at the two standing together, averted his gaze, "Vera Yves is my wife. Even if we don’t have much affection for each other, you can’t treat her like this."
Winston Valentine’s emotions had considerably calmed down, "Even I could find out it was you who did it, let alone others."
"I just want Tristan Valentine to take a good look!" Melinda Shelby said indifferently, "If she weren’t your wife, she would’ve already become a corpse the moment she decided to treat Cleo Sutton."
Winston Valentine tightened his grip.
Melinda Shelby continued, "Winston, you must understand what’s important. Only a mother will unconditionally support you forever, wives can be replaced anytime, but you only have one real mom!"
"Winston, quickly apologize to your mother." Henry Sterling tried to touch Winston Valentine.
Winston Valentine’s eyes darkened, disdain evident, causing Henry Sterling to awkwardly retract his hand.
"You child, didn’t you love clinging to your Uncle Sterling when you were a kid?" Melinda Shelby reverted to her affectionate motherly demeanor.
Winston Valentine looked somewhat fatigued, "I’ll find a way to stop Vera Yves from treating Cleo Sutton."
"No need for now," Melinda Shelby said leisurely, "Let Cleo Sutton have the hope of living, then your dad won’t be in such a rush to marry her. If she really doesn’t have long, given your dad’s temperament, he’ll definitely become desperate and go to extremes with me!"
"Whatever you do, don’t touch her again."
Winston Valentine left the office, leaving those words behind.
Melinda Shelby watched him leave, her eyes dimmed slightly, intending only to lightly punish Vera Yves, but ended up realizing her son was still a romantic. The Valentine Family genes are truly strong!
Hannah Hayes and Harry Yves stayed in the hospital room with Vera Yves until past ten o’clock.
Seeing Winston Valentine hadn’t arrived yet, Hannah Hayes grew increasingly anxious, even sneaking to Cecilia Vaughn’s floor to check, confirming Winston Valentine’s absence from Cecilia Vaughn’s room before feeling somewhat relieved.
Nearing eleven o’clock, Vera Yves sent Hannah Hayes and Harry Yves home.
Lying alone in her hospital bed, she tossed and turned unable to sleep.
"Are there fleas in the hospital bed?"
Winston Valentine’s voice startled Vera Yves, as she sat up looking displeased at him, "Winston Valentine, do you know that scaring someone can be terrifying?"
"Blame the hospital room door for being too good in quality."
Obviously, he scared her intentionally.
"Why did you come here at this time?"
Winston Valentine sat on the hospital bed, "Felt you were too pitiful alone, so came to show some compassion."
Smelling the alcohol wafting from him, Vera Yves frowned; while she’s hospitalized, he still went drinking?
"I don’t need your compassion," Vera Yves turned over lying on the bed, "Please close the door when you leave."
Winston Valentine ignored her request, lying behind her, extending an arm to hold her, "Really don’t need it?"
"Don’t need it."
Winston Valentine held her tighter, "Mrs. Valentine sure likes to say one thing and mean another."
Vera Yves struggled a bit, failing to break free, and said annoyedly, "Winston Valentine, if you’re drunk, go sleep at the villa, don’t come to the hospital to cause trouble."
"Without you at home, I can’t sleep." Winston Valentine buried his head in her neck, inhaling her fragrance.
He said "home" not "villa," causing Vera Yves’s heart to soften unexpectedly, yet she felt a bit angry at herself, maybe he said it casually, while her emotions were in turmoil here.
"Anywhere else uncomfortable?" Winston Valentine lightly swept his hand across her body.
Vera Yves moved his hand to her lower abdomen slowly, causing Winston Valentine’s hand to tense slightly before gently covering it.
"The car’s already sent for repair, when you’re discharged, wherever you want to go, let my driver take you."
Does this moment of tenderness include everything a Mrs. Valentine should get?
Vera Yves closed her eyes.
Winston Valentine tightened his hold on her, quietly whispered in her ear, "Vera."
His voice was hoarse, yet unlike the usual coldness, carried a hint of intimacy.Vera hesitantly responded.
"Just suddenly felt like calling you that."
"How many drinks did you have?"
"Don’t worry, my alcohol tolerance is better than yours, and my behavior after drinking is better too," Winston Valentine continued in her ear, "While holding you, I absolutely won’t call someone else’s name."
"Winston Valentine, when did I...call anyone else’s name?" Vera Yves ended weakly.
Winston Valentine held her tighter, lowering his voice in her ear, "No point in calling, because you can only be mine!"
This man’s definitely drunk too much.
"Ridiculous."
Vera Yves tried pushing him away, but he dominantly refused to move an inch, as if a solid barrier, tightly locking her in his embrace.
Gradually, Vera Yves felt sleepy, thinking she was truly hopeless; just sleeping in his arms a few times made her somewhat reliant on his embrace.
If only a person’s heart had a switch, she wouldn’t let herself like anyone, fall for anyone.
The next morning, when Vera Yves awoke, Winston Valentine had already left the hospital. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Old Mrs. Valentine came to see her, bringing nourishing soup.
"Once you’re discharged, Grandma will arrange a driver for you, for now don’t drive yourself."
"Thank you, Grandma."
Old Mrs. Valentine stayed with her in the hospital for quite a while before leaving.
The news of Vera Yves’s hospitalization from a car accident spread quickly; all morning, visitors came one after another, flowers and fruit baskets nearly filled the room.
Vera Yves forced smiles at people until her face nearly stiffened.
Inside, an inexplicable sadness loomed; dedicated to being Mrs. Valentine for three years, yet it didn’t match the impact of having a meal with Winston Valentine.
Linda Young entered with a bouquet and a thermos, clicking her tongue, "You could open a flower shop here; had I known, wouldn’t have brought flowers."
Linda Young placed the flowers aside, sitting on the chair by the bed, "Seems like you can’t drop anyone at the airport."
"I wasn’t planning to at all," Vera Yves leaned back on the hospital bed, her face unexpressive.
"Really willing to let go?"
"Being left behind, there’s no right to be unwilling to let go," Vera Yves smiled at her, "Someone destined to leave, sending or not makes no difference."
Linda Young said no more, opened the thermos, "Spent three hours this morning making Ten Treasures Porridge for you."
"Thanks."
"Where’s your husband?"
Vera Yves shook her head, if not for his tight embrace last night, she’d think it was all a dream.
He’s always like this, spur-of-the-moment passionate embraces followed by treating her like a stranger.
Valentine Group CEO Office.
Winston Valentine stared at the document on his desk for half an hour, until the intercom buzzed, reminding him of a high-level meeting in ten minutes.
Winston Valentine snapped back, slowly unsealing the document.
