Chapter 255: Fratricide of Rage-II

Lastor pouted a little as he took the necklace. He then moved around to find flour from the kitchen and spread the flour on the table he had just cleaned up. He then brought the candle in the middle and began writing the ancient language that Cassius had seen swirled around Arabella’s body.

He spoke while Lastor worked, "Arabella was injected by a potion. Did that break the curse her mother put to protect her?"

"No, it was just a potion that could strengthen her power. They didn’t know about the curse. They just know about the fact that the Princess’s power hasn’t manifest yet and they just thought that it needed a push that’s why they injected the potion," hummed Lastor as he worked while Cassius stood still with his arms crossed, watching, learning, and dissecting Lastor with his eyes.

"What happened if Arabella’s curse break? You said that it would cause for her to suddenly burst with power, but how bad could it be?" Cassius inquired and for once, Lastor seemed at a loss too.

He lowered his eyes and stared at the ground. He stayed quiet for a while and spoke again, "I do not know, Your Highness. I... can’t imagine how powerful it is. If she is as strong, or even stronger than the witch at her full power, I fear that the entire land of Versailles could be eradicated for good."

"But Arabella could learn how to control it," Cassius said, "So even if the curse breaks, she won’t be a danger to herself or others."

"No, she won’t be able to, she won’t be in her right mind if the curse was broken. She will burst, like a damn with a lot of cracks and once she burst out, it will be flood that comes to kill. Besides at that point we won’t be certain if she is still in her right mind. Her power could instead take control of her and do what was necessary to protect the host."

Cassius sighed. The more he thinks the more he urgently needed to go after Arabella. He knew it would be dangerous to bring her in this village but now, he wondered if he should have kept her close instead.

"I’m done!" Lastor puffed his chest, proud by how quick he was in finishing his work. He then placed his hand on the table, "We will now look into the past sire! Our physical body will be brought back to the past but no matter what we do, we won’t be able to change what had happened because what we are watching is just a view of the past memories."

Cassius nodded once and then placed his hand on top of Lastor’s. Then he closed his eyes as instructed only to open it again and find himself back into the house.

It was still the same place, the same house, the same chair, and the same food spread on the table that was left to rot.

He could see a few people sitting down and their faces, oh so nervous.

The wife was holding tight to the knife on her hand while her husband clenched his jaw tight, dawning on another glass of alcohol to his throat, as if it was a magical drink that could push him through what he had planned to do tonight.

Then a knock resounded from the door which alerted the two and stood the husband who stared at his wife dead in the eye, "Do not show hostility to him." freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Will you be alright?" The wife asked.

"Do you think we should let him go after his sins? Even if I am not alright with this, he needs to die for wanting to spend the rest of his life with that monstrous blood sucking creature!"

"You’re right," the wife held to her hands together in a prayer, "You’re right. He has turn into a monster if he cares for that vampire too."

"Brother?" Hans’s voice echoed from the door. He was standing outside the house, looking around with a hum. "Odd, why is it so quiet tonight? Brother? Brother, if you aren’t there-"

The door clicked open and at once Hans saw his brother whose face similar to him with the only difference is the age as his brother was a decade older than him.

"Why the glum look?" Hans said with a smile, "I’m finally back home, brother."

His brother, the man named Cain, smiled back at him, "I’m not glum silly! I just thought that you were running late and didn’t want to come back home."

"Oh of course not, there was just a few things that needed to be taken care of in the castle so it took my time," Hans answered as he walked in. He then put down his brown bag on the table and smiled at Cain’s wife, Rina. "I heard that you’re currently having a little baby inside your tummy too Rina. I asked around to the maids in the castle and they suggested me to bring you back a few stuff here for your newborn baby!"

Hans seemed excited as he pulled out all the silk fabric and cotton clothes that were normally too expensive for a normal household to possess. But being excited to see his brother again after a long time and wanting to give the best for his nephew, Hans had only chosen the best out of best.

What he wasn’t aware was the exchanged look between Cain and Rina as he stood behind Hans. He stared at his head, his eyes narrowing on his neck, as if to make sure where he should cut.

Hans might be a powerful guard in the castle of Versailles, even known to be stronger than vampires but if he was taken in a moment where his guards were down, he was sure that it won’t be too difficult to take down his little brother.

Hans suddenly turned around and met Cain’s eyes, smiling widely, "Thank you brother. I never thought that there would be a day where we could come to see each other eye to eye after our last fight. I have since felt horrible about it but for you to reach back to me... I truly feel grateful."
