Chapter 253: Lastor The Knowledgeable-II

Cassius counted in his head, and if he included last night, that was the second time his poor Arabella had met fate with death and continued to resist it. Here, he thought that it was her power not to die, no matter how many times she had been killed.

"Then why are you worried?" Cassius shrugged, "Her having back her power is what she needs. Arabella herself wants a way to be able to protect herself, including regaining her power and learning how to utilize her bloodline."

"It is good, sire," agreed Lastor, "But imagine a cracked vase being filled to the brim with water- they’re bound to burst, and when they break, they would cause an impact- large enough that it would cause deaths. It would be great if the people she kills by accident is her enemy but what if it isn’t? Knowing the princess’s gentle soul that would hurt her... immensely."

Cassius ruffled his hair, "How bad is it?"

"Terrible- horrid? It’s a nightmare. Most witches’s power lies in curses but not the princess and it’s because she’s not a born witch but a child born from magical powers of a witch... a magical power of a demon," continued Lastor.

Cassius frowned as he pulled Lastor by his collar, "You know a lot about Arabella. Why?"

Lastor could feel his neck too close to Cassius’s knuckles and he had seen the two choices of future that suddenly appeared into his head like a picture. One was where he lied and Cassius would strangle him until he’s blue, possibly until he died. The second one was where he had said the truth and Cassius would loosened his guard.

Without even needing to see the two choices, Lastor knew what he had to do, especially when he had came here as an ally.

"I’m..." he said slowly in fear, "A low class of sorcerer in the coven. My purpose was to help the witch with her curses... that witch was Lord Morpheus’s Queen."

"Ah," Cassius frowned, "The one who Morpheus eventually killed and betrayed because she had helped the humans."

Nodding, Lastor seemed a little bitter as he thought about the past.

Lastor continued, "I was always there, just unseen because of how unimpressive I was. My magical power was weak, even weaker than a normal sorcerer who had already been on the weaker side of magical power when compared to a witch. I didn’t have the ability to make potions either as they all failed to work their purpose. But because of that I was there to see everything- everything about the past and the future with my power."

Though Lastor seemed so much younger than him, Cassius now realized that this man was perhaps much older than he looks, much older than him even. Though Lastor spoke shyly and could be likened to a boy who had just stepped out of his house for the first time, he knew more than them which proved how useful Lastor was.

"Continue," Cassius ordered, "What about Arabella? Who made her with their magical power?"

Lastor’s eyes stared at the floor as he thought about the past. He spoke solemnly, "The witch had always wanted to have a successor. She searched for means to do so because she cannot bore a child. She wasn’t barren but... the demon she had contracted with wanted her womb in exchange and so she couldn’t have a child anymore."

Cassius had always known that demons were fickle and they would be the one to choose what they wanted from the person they had formed a contact with but it did strike him by surprise that the demon didn’t want life but an organ... Why? It won’t even benefit the demons if they took the witch’s womb.

"So she tried to have a child but not with her body. By imbuing her magic into a baby in numerous amount, she was sure that the baby would still be hers. Maybe not by blood but my magic. This way... the baby doesn’t have to ever need making a contract with a demon in her life, because she would be strong, as strong as a child born from a demon and a human. She would be even more stronger than any other witches that have walked on Earth- so powerful that if she wanted to, she could turn winter into spring and summer into fall."

"But that witch died thousands of years ago. Arabella wasn’t born then," Cassius stated and Lastor nodded, confirming it.

"You’re right but that’s because before our witch had succeeded she met her death. Lord Morpheus then locked all the informations about her, perhaps out of... anger. But since he was cursed and could never walked out of the castle, he became even more deranged and hopeless. He wanted a way out of the castle, no matter how. So then that’s where he had the thought of ending the curse once and for all and that was by using the body of the only sorcerer in their coven who could walk out of the castle without ever being bound to it and mixed the baby with the witch’s power."

"So in Arabella’s body is the blood of a sorcerer who can walk out of the castle and the witch’s power," Cassius concluded and Lastor nodded. "But how is Morpheus sure that she would end his curse?"

"Because as I have said... the princess’s power is powerful. So powerful that even the world would bend according to her need," Lastor frowned, "Besides she had succeeded in bringing someone from the castle out for good even though that person has the royal blood of Morpheus and was supposed to live in the castle and die if they took even a step outside, ending the curse for that one person which meant if she had wanted to, she could break the curse for all the souls trapped in that castle including Morpheus."

"She had succeeded in bringing someone from the castle?" Cassius inquired, "Who?"

"Don’t you know about the Princess’s sister?" Lastor inquired. "She was supposed to die the moment she was born because she was birthed outside the castle. But in the end she came back alive and that’s due to the Princess’s power. I suspect that there was also one more person whose curse had been broken by the Princess. Morpheus’s step sibling, though I do not know of her name."
