The Young Miss Refuse To Love-Chapter 92: I’ll stay by your side
Chapter 92: I’ll stay by your side
"I’ll stay by your side, Jianyi... forever." Song Chengfeng whispered, his voice unwavering as he declared his intent. His eyes pleaded with hers, silently asking for the chance to remain in her life, no matter the obstacles.
Qi Jianyi sighed, her heart heavy with the weight of his words. "I’ve told you so much, and yet all you can think about is staying by my side?" she teased lightly, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
Song Chengfeng saw through her attempt to mask her emotions. Loosening his hold slightly, he cupped her cheeks with both hands, his thumbs brushing gently against her skin. Her small pout didn’t deter him, and his gaze softened.
"You’re my Qi Jianyi," he said firmly, his voice rich with emotion. "The one I know and love. No matter who you are or where you come from, my feelings won’t change." He leaned down and placed a soft, lingering kiss on her forehead, catching her completely off guard.
Her eyes widened, and she instinctively touched the spot where his lips had landed. "You kissed me!" she exclaimed, a hint of exasperation mixed with disbelief. "We’re not even in a relationship..." She rolled her eyes, attempting to dismiss the weight of the moment.
But Song Chengfeng’s expression remained serious, his intensity unwavering. "You like me. That’s all I need to know, Jianyi."
"You’re missing the point, Song Chengfeng," she muttered, patting his chest as if to push away his stubbornness. "The whole reason I told you the truth was to make it clear—we can’t be together."
He nodded slowly, a flicker of reluctance crossing his face. "I know," he said, his voice quieter now, yet still resolute. "But I can’t process it the way you want me to. Not now, not when I..." His voice caught, and he took a breath. "Not when I feel this way about you."
Qi Jianyi’s resolve hardened, though her voice trembled slightly. "I’m not giving up. I’ll do whatever it takes to return home. That’s where I belong."
Her declaration left a heavy silence hanging in the air. Song Chengfeng didn’t respond immediately, his mind turning over her words. The weight of her longing, the sheer determination in her voice, left no room for doubt.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he spoke, his tone filled with hesitation but his resolve unshaken. "And I won’t stop you. I’ll help you return home, Jianyi."
Qi Jianyi’s breath caught at his words. She hadn’t expected him to say that, to promise her the very thing that would take her away from him. Yet, his voice carried a quiet agony, a reflection of the turmoil within him.
Song Chengfeng couldn’t bring himself to beg or plead for Qi Jianyi to stay in this world. He had seen it with his own eyes—the deep longing etched into her every expression, the quiet yearning that spoke of a life she desperately wanted to return to.
Her eyes, which had revealed so much earlier, carried a thousand emotions: pain, nostalgia, and an unrelenting determination.
Every word she had spoken was a reflection of her memories, of the world she called home, of the people she missed—whoever they might be.
Song Chengfeng knew, with painful clarity, that the woman he loved belonged somewhere else, a place that was not his to hold her in.
He was a selfish man by nature, one who always fought relentlessly for the things he wanted. But this time, he found himself powerless.
For her sake, and for the love he bore her, Song Chengfeng could only swallow the pleas that burned on the edge of his tongue.
"What kind of a man would I be if I took away your happiness? I love you..." he didn’t finish his words, but Qi Jianyi understood him.
He loved her. And because of his feelings, as difficult as it was for him, Song Chengfeng couldn’t force her to stay, knowing she wouldn’t be happy if he did.
"But you will only get hurt, Chengfeng," Qi Jianyi reminded him once again.
By now, she had completely accepted her feelings. Yes, she harboured some form of affection toward this stubborn and shameless man. Yet Qi Jianyi knew she couldn’t allow herself to be greedy. To return home, she must leave no regrets behind.
If she embraced these feelings fully, both of them would only suffer more.
"I don’t care about me, Jianyi. You cannot push me away—I won’t let you. You can’t run away from me because I’ll follow wherever you go. I’ll stay by your side. Just accept that fact," he stubbornly insisted.
He had completely cast aside all rationality, knowing full well how deeply her eventual disappearance would affect him. Yet he refused to step back.
"We don’t have to be in a relationship or anything like that—why does it matter anyway? As long as I know you have feelings for me, that’s enough. Even if I can’t call you mine, just know that I’m yours. In this world, where you feel like you don’t belong, where you feel like you have no one... I’m here, Qi Jianyi."
"You’re really determined, aren’t you?" Qi Jianyi whispered, her voice carrying a hint of surprise as she absorbed the weight of his repeated confession.
Today, Song Chengfeng had laid his feelings bare, as clear as the sky after a storm. No matter what she said or did, he wouldn’t leave. He would stay by her side until the inevitable day when their paths would part.
"I’m yours," he repeated, the words steady and deliberate, as though they were a vow he intended to honour no matter what.
It felt like a mantra he needed to etch into her heart, a truth he wanted to solidify in her mind.
Qi Jianyi watched him closely. The calm and collected young master Song, who always seemed to view the world with detached indifference, now looked so raw, so vulnerable in front of her. Though his tone remained calm, she could see through the facade.
He wore a mask—a carefully constructed one, designed to keep her from doubting his resolve. But beneath it, Qi Jianyi could see the cracks. She could feel the tremor in his voice, the silent pleading in his eyes.
Song Chengfeng wasn’t as composed as he wanted her to believe.
He was afraid. Afraid that if she sensed his vulnerability, she would refuse him again, pushing him further away.
Unfortunately for him, no mask could fool Qi Jianyi. Just as he could notice the subtle nuances of her emotions when no one else could, she too had developed an unsettling ability to see through his walls.
But even as she saw through him, Qi Jianyi chose to look away. She ignored the facade, not out of indifference but out of something far more tender. His trembling resolve and unspoken fears left a heavy ache in her chest.
They were destined for pain—she knew that all too well.
Yet, for reasons she couldn’t fully understand, she decided to let herself give in, if only for a fleeting moment. If they were to hurt, at least they could make a memory worth holding onto before the wounds came.
"You’re mine..." she whispered softly, meeting his gaze as her hands reached up to touch the ones still cupping her cheeks.
"Stay if that’s what you wish, Chengfeng. Stay as long as you want."
Her words were quiet but firm, a bittersweet surrender. For now, she would let him stay, even if she knew it might hurt them both in the end.
...
"I’m not going anywhere," Qi Jianyi muttered, her tone laced with mild annoyance as her eyes flickered toward the not-so-subtle gaze fixed on her.
Who else would dare to openly watch her like that other than the infamous Young Master Song?
It hadn’t even been a full day since she decided to indulge him, to let him stay by her side for a little while longer. Yet here he was, already slipping back into his old self—the ever-composed and self-assured Song Chengfeng.
Or at least, that’s what he wanted her to think.
Despite his calm exterior, the lingering traces of unease in his actions betrayed him. It had been three hours since their earlier confrontation, and during that time, Song Chengfeng hadn’t looked away from her for even a second. His gaze was steady, unwavering, and far too intense to ignore.
It was as though he feared that if he blinked, even for the briefest moment, Qi Jianyi would vanish like a fleeting dream.
She sighed, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve. "You’re going to burn a hole in me if you keep staring like that," she quipped, turning to meet his eyes with a raised brow.
Song Chengfeng’s lips curved into a small smile, the kind that could either charm or infuriate, depending on his mood.
"Just making sure," he said lightly, though his voice carried an undertone of seriousness that made her pause.
Qi Jianyi blinked at him, unsure whether to be amused or exasperated. "Making sure of what? That I will not suddenly disappear?" fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
He didn’t answer right away, his gaze softening as it lingered on her. "Something like that," he finally admitted, his tone quieter now, almost as if he didn’t want her to hear the weight behind his words.
Qi Jianyi rolled her eyes, but her heart betrayed her with a faint flutter. Song Chengfeng might be the most insufferably stubborn man she’d ever met, but there was something disarming about the sincerity behind his actions.
Even when she tried to keep her guard up, his persistence chipped away at the walls she had so carefully built.
"You’re so annoying," she muttered, turning away to hide the faint curve of her lips.
