Chapter 35: Jealous Nicholas

Of course, the garden was created once again after being destroyed for the second time. Nicholas had his people bring fresh flowers overnight, making the entire place look as good as new.

So no one could tell it had been destroyed completely from start to finish.

Actually, Asher didn’t need flowers, but he knew what he was going to do would surely make his Aunt slightly angry. So why not do it behind her back?

After sending her away, he glanced at the butler and nodded.

John was also smart. He knew that the third young master wanted to do something that he didn’t want anyone else to see. So he also nodded back and walked away, alerting his subordinates to keep their eyes and ears closed.

"Sister-in-law, you don’t mind me calling you Abigail, right?"

"Uh, no..." At this time, Abigail also realized something strange was going to happen. Her eyes narrowed as she asked, "What are you up to?"

"Don’t worry, Mrs. Abigail." Asher winked at her and said, "Just let me handle everything. Or better yet, you can just be a good girl and stay here, okay?"

"...Okay."

Abigail was still skeptical, but she nodded. She thought for a while before her eyes lit up. She rubbed her hands excitedly and said, "I’ll go and collect flowers with mom!"

Asher watched the woman heading away before his smile vanished without a trace.

It wasn’t that he ever believed in love at first sight, and nor would he ever be so much attracted to a woman to the point of making himself mad. Even though Abigail was intriguing and charming, he hadn’t fallen to the point of creating a mess in his own life.

He was sane enough to leave when he could. But it didn’t mean he would continue to stand by and watch the woman who dared to attract his attention live a depressed and unstable life. That cousin of his needed a wake-up call.

As he was thinking, he soon reached the second floor and without even knocking, he pushed open the door and entered the room, not even announcing his arrival.

On the other side, Nicholas had just been busy finishing his last bit of task when the door of his study was opened.

Who was it to disturb him once again in the middle of the night?!

Hadn’t he made it clear that he needed to finish his work and escape from this damned place? The further away from Abigail, the better!

But...

He finally placed his laptop aside and raised his head to take a glance at his guest.

"Asher." He was a bit surprised that this little cousin of his would step into his study. This had never happened before.

Whenever Asher came to meet them in the past before heading to the M country, he would always come to find either Mom or Chris. Their paths rarely crossed (aside from the moments where Asher would come to irritate him to hell), and Nicholas wanted to keep it that way. He loved peace and quiet in his life.

But now... This person actually came here on his own.

Nicholas’s eyes narrowed. "What are you doing here?"

His attitude was rude, not that Asher cared. His cousin had always been like that.

The blond guy walked and picked up an apple from the table, biting into it. He even leaned on the table and sat there, raising his chin at his elder brother. "You got married."

"Yes." Nicholas suddenly felt a sense of danger deep in his heart.

He was a person who would never ignore his intuition. So he directly asked the man, "What does it have to do with you?"

"Jealous much?" Asher chuckled as he strolled over, casually placing his half-eaten apple into his elder cousin’s hand. He gave his cousin’s shoulder an affectionate pat and added, "She’s a keeper, you know. You might want to make sure you don’t let her go."

Nicholas didn’t need to be told the meaning behind those words. His eyes sharpened dangerously as he said in an icy and cold voice, "Stay away from her."

"Oh?" Even though Asher had no desire to snatch someone else’s wife, especially his cousin’s, he was indeed enjoying irritating this person. "What if I don’t want to? Haven’t you noticed how contradictory she is? She’s my type. Why should I listen to you?" He paused and made an expression as if he remembered something. "Ah, that’s right. This is a contract marriage, isn’t it? So she’s going to be single after three years. Well then, I can wait."

Nicholas’s eyes blazed in anger. He didn’t know where this anger came from, but he was certain he had no feelings for that woman. It was probably his possessiveness speaking through his fury.

He had always been like this. His toys would solely be his despite the fact that they would continue to eat dust in the corner of the cupboard. He never liked sharing things, even if he treated them unfairly. So what to speak of his people?

His face turned colder as he stared at his younger cousin. "Get out."

"Of course, that’s all you know how to say," Asher said nonchalantly as if he had been in this situation with his cousin many times before and was used to his bad mood. "You know your words won’t stop me."

"I said, get out of my house."

"Sure," Asher’s lips curled into a knowing smile as he retorted, "Maybe I should take Abigail with me. She does enjoy my company, especially since I graciously offered her a ride home. It’s where you fall short. You—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Nicholas landed a solid punch on his cousin’s jaw. A trickle of blood oozed from the corner of Asher’s mouth, but he didn’t seem the least bit concerned.

He chuckled through the pain, wiping the blood from his lips. "Thanks," he quipped. "Now she’ll be even more worried about me. Guess who she’ll blame once she sees this injury?"

Nicholas said nothing as he silently picked up his phone and called his security. "Come and kick Asher out of here."

"Woah," Asher finally laughed and leaned on the table, saying, "Why so serious? I was just kidding. Relax, big cousin. I’m not that kind of person who would snatch other people’s wives..." He paused dramatically and grinned, "At least not until the divorce."

"You-"

Before Nicholas could unleash more hurtful words in his anger, Asher interjected, "I’m leaving. It was a pleasure seeing you again, cousin. Just make sure she stays safe." He paused, his gaze now locked onto Harrison, his expression grave. "If I find even a single scratch on her, you already know what I’m capable of."

Then, Asher shut the door and walked out.
