Chapter 328: Chapter 328: Renee Jennings Loses It

"I’ve said it many times. I don’t want Victor Vance visiting Nathan and disturbing our family life. Rachel and I have worked so hard to help Nathan move past his trauma."

"Let’s not even get into whether this ’trauma’ you mentioned is real or not. I’ll just ask you: you don’t want Sonny to see her child? What gives you the right? On what grounds? What makes you think you’re qualified to stop her? Hmm? Mr. Lynch?"

The rapid-fire questions left Nathaniel Lynch completely speechless.

Renee Jennings said impatiently, "When we say we don’t want her here, we mean it. We’re doing this for Nathan’s own good. It’s our right, and it has nothing to do with you."

"What nerve," Naomi Kenway retorted. "Preventing a parent from visiting their child after a divorce is illegal. Surely you know that? Or has the Lynch Family become so powerful that you think you’re above the law?"

The color drained from Renee Jennings’s face. "You..."

Nathaniel Lynch’s head was pounding. Legally, he knew he couldn’t force Victor Vance to stay away from her child. He’d only been able to control her before by preying on her guilt.

But who would have thought that the once-obedient Victor would suddenly become so ’rebellious’ after meeting Naomi Kenway.

Finally, he relented. "Alright, Rachel. If she wants to see the boy, let her see him for a bit. Nathan is her son, after all."

"Nathaniel..."

"That’s final," Nathaniel Lynch snapped.

Victor Vance and Nathan Lynch shot Naomi a grateful look. Naomi gave a slight shake of her head.

Nathan wrapped his arms around Victor’s waist. "Mom, when did you meet Aunt Kenway?"

Victor smiled, her voice tinged with emotion. "A few months ago. We’re very good friends now. Your Aunt Kenway is a wonderful person. It’s all thanks to her that we get to see each other today..."

Nathan nodded. "When I grow up, I’m going to build a big garden for you and one for Aunt Kenway!"

Victor’s eyes crinkled as she smiled, and she answered gently, "Okay."

Watching the touching scene of mother and son from a distance, Renee Jennings found it to be a complete eyesore. She sneered, "See? I told you that boy is ungrateful. I’m so good to him, and he doesn’t appreciate it at all. He only treasures Victor."

Nathaniel Lynch shot her a look. "You should look at yourself for the reason. If Nathan isn’t close to you, don’t you think you might have something to do with it?"

"I slave away for him day in and day out, how have I wronged him? And you have the nerve to criticize me? Nathan wasn’t just yelling at me a minute ago. Blood is thicker than water, but I don’t see him being all that close to you, either. Instead, he’s clinging to Victor for dear life," Renee Jennings said, trying to stir up trouble.

Sure enough, Nathaniel Lynch’s expression soured. The bite mark on his arm began to throb faintly.

’He recalled Nathan’s defiant, almost frantic actions. An ungrateful brat, that’s what he is.’

After a moment, Nathaniel and Renee stepped forward. Nathaniel’s voice was firm. "That’s enough. It’s time for Nathan to come home with us." His eyes were fixed on Naomi. "Victor may have visitation rights, that’s true. But I have custody, and I’m taking my son home."

Victor reluctantly said her goodbyes to Nathan.

Tears welling in his eyes, Nathan looked up and asked, "Mom, will you come see me again?"

"Of course, I will," Victor promised. "I’ll come see you as often as I can."

Reassured by Victor’s promise, Nathan nodded through his tears. "I’ll be waiting for you, Mom." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Renee Jennings pulled Nathan’s hand into hers and let out a sigh of relief. She linked her other arm through Nathaniel’s, a smug, triumphant smile on her face. "Our little family of three is finally back together."

"Oh, by the way, Victor," she said. "Nathaniel and I have been trying for a baby. Maybe Nathan will have a little brother or sister soon. When that happens, you should remember to come to the celebration. And you too, Naomi..." Her gaze shifted to Naomi. "You can come as well. I’m not petty like some people."

Victor was visibly taken aback. It wasn’t because of Nathaniel, but she couldn’t help but wonder: ’If Renee has a child, will things get even worse for my son? Once he’s no longer the only child, will Nathaniel become even harsher with him?’

Renee was delighted by Victor’s reaction. "What’s with that face? You hear our good news and you look like someone just died? Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on Nathaniel? With a little brother or sister, Nathan won’t be so lonely growing up. Wouldn’t you agree?"

"That makes sense," Naomi Kenway said with a nod. "But it’s not that hard for Nathan to get a little brother or sister. For all we know, he might have one already."

Renee Jennings frowned suspiciously. "What’s that supposed to mean?!"

Naomi looked at Victor. "You’re still not going to say it? They’re walking all over you, and you’re still trying to spare their feelings?"

Understanding the hint in Naomi’s eyes, Victor knew instantly what she meant.

Naomi leaned in and whispered in her ear, "They’ve humiliated you this badly, and you’re just going to let them walk all over you because you’re good-natured? You must be furious, right? You don’t need to be reasonable with people like them. You should give them a taste of their own medicine." When she finished, she patted Victor’s shoulder. Victor had a gentle temperament and was easily bullied. Letting people humiliate her to this extent without fighting back was not a good habit.

Nathaniel seemed to sense something. He frowned. "Naomi..."

Renee said impatiently, "What are you two whispering about over there? If you’re so upset, go home, curl up in a blanket, and have a good cry. Or better yet, have your new lover comfort you."

"...I think you’re the one who should be crying," Victor said. "Nicole was right. Nathan might already have a little brother or sister. After all, Nathaniel is quite the philanderer, with countless lovers on the side..."

Renee’s face changed in an instant. She denied it instinctively, "Impossible! What nonsense are you spouting?!" She gave a cold laugh. "I’ve been with Nathaniel for a long time. I know what kind of person he is better than you do. Don’t you dare stand here and make baseless accusations!"

"Accusations?" Naomi took out her phone, pulled up a video she’d taken, and showed it to Renee. In the hazy darkness of the video, two figures could be seen, wrapped in a passionate embrace.

Just a second before Nathaniel could snatch the phone, Naomi put it away.

Nathaniel’s eyes blazed with fury. "How could you... You promised you wouldn’t say anything!"

Naomi shot him a cold glance. "I said it depended on my mood. You and Renee were tag-teaming me, trying to make me sick. Now I’m in a bad mood and feel like venting. Isn’t that perfectly normal?"

Furious, Nathaniel gritted his teeth, but found himself unable to retort.

Renee’s face was ashen. She recognized the person in the video just from the back of their head, and Nathaniel’s reaction had just confirmed it beyond any doubt.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down Renee’s face. In a rage, she started hitting Nathaniel with her purse. "Nathaniel Lynch! How dare you cheat on me?! You bastard, Nathaniel Lynch! I work myself to the bone, I even help you raise your son, and all the while you’re getting hot and heavy with some lover! You’re not human, Nathaniel Lynch!!"
