Chapter 60: Chapter 60: You Smell So Good

Yao Qingzhi leisurely withdrew his gaze, “I’m just following the rules, why are you reacting so strongly?”

Su Qingtong sneered, “Me, reacting strongly? It’s all because of you. You know exactly what you’ve done.”

Yao Qingzhi remained silent.

Ah Da’s gaze swept back and forth between the two of them; something was off. She wondered if Bronze Sword’s familiarity with matters and rules related to Lingcheng Mountain was due to Master Yao.

Sensing Ah Da’s inquisitive eyes, Su Qingtong hurriedly interrupted, “Stop, don’t jump to conclusions. My relationship with him is simply that of adversaries—adversaries who are particularly hostile when they meet.”

Ah Da uttered an “Oh” and didn’t pry further.

...

Yao Qingzhi took out brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, began to register the name and address. When he asked about the past and origin, Ah Da said that she had always been unable to leave the Green Jade Incense Burner according to her memory, until recently someone lit the incense, which broke the seal.

“You established a co-existence with the Green Jade Incense Burner. Logically, since it doesn’t have spiritual sense, it shouldn’t be able to imprison you; someone must have tampered with it. Did you bring the incense burner with you?”

Ah Da shook her head, “The incense burner isn’t here.”

Yao Qingzhi’s pen paused. He glanced at the address, and then, remembering the person he saw following Ah Da at the doorway, he looked up inquiringly at her for a long time before asking, “What is your relationship with Mr. Qin?”

Ah Da was startled, “…do you mean Qin Yu?”

Yao Qingzhi withdrew his gaze, quickly recorded the information on the registration form, and stood up, “Just right. The Qin Family has a deep relationship with my master. Mr. Qin is currently at Longevity Hall discussing matters with my master.”

“Ah?” Ah Da stood up, her delicate and petite face filled with surprise and joy, “Qin Yu is here?”

Why would he be here!

Ah Da looked towards Su Qingtong. Su Qingtong pursed her lips, indicating she also wasn’t sure about this place’s connection to the Qin Family, and speculated, “However, considering the Qin Family’s vast business range and wealth, perhaps Lingcheng Mountain is one of Qin’s investments.”

It was originally an offhand remark, but ultimately, the truth of the matter was confirmed through Yao Qingzhi.

Not only was Lingcheng Mountain’s developer the Qin, but all the houses of Abnormal Person Concentration Management Registration Office were also built by Qin’s investment. Even the roads, buildings, and the commercial snack streets at the foot of Lingcheng Mountain had Qin’s presence.

Su Qingtong remarked, “Truly a leader amongst capitalists. How is this any different from owning a gold mine?”

“Qin Yu is amazing.”

Ah Da sighed in admiration, experiencing firsthand just how vast Qin Yu’s wealth was for the first time. She knew he was impressive, but she didn’t expect him to be even more so than she had imagined.

No wonder he is always so busy.

The last step of the process was to take a photograph for the record. Yao Qingzhi completed the entire procedure by himself, explaining that it was because the mountain was full of tourists today, and his fellow disciples had all gone up to the mountaintop to help.

Ah Da blinked her big eyes and asked foolishly.

“The mountaintop? Do you also register ordinary people?”

Su Qingtong laughed out loud, “Register what? You really think they’re about saving all living beings? It’s all business. They’ve built something called Qingliang Temple on the mountain, running a business offering prayers for blessings and safety, fooling the tourists thoroughly.”

You can make money like that? Ah Da was astonished.

Yao Qingzhi stood up and said, “I don’t know how long Mr. Qin and my master will be talking, you can wait in the registration room. I have some other matters to attend to, so I won’t be accompanying you any longer. Please make yourselves comfortable.”

Ah Da politely responded, “Thank you.”

Su Qingtong wasn’t one to sit still. Seeing Yao Qingzhi leave, she also followed, claiming she had some issues to settle with him.

Before leaving, Su Qingtong instructed Ah Da, “If you get bored, you can walk around; the scenery outside is quite nice. But remember not to go far, and call me if anything comes up.”

“I know, you go ahead.” Ah Da waved her off, watching Su Qingtong chase after Yao Qingzhi’s departing figure, her suspicions once again confirmed.

Su Qingtong didn’t seem to dislike Yao Qingzhi at all, but instead looked like… they were having a disagreement.

Ah Da sat alone for a while, suddenly feeling somewhat thirsty. She saw tea sets and a teapot on the tea table and got up to pour herself a cup of tea. Taking a small sip, she nearly spit it out—the tea was too bitter, leaving her throat uncomfortably dry.

“Cough… cough cough…”

Ah Da put the teacup down and couldn’t stop coughing, her entire head throbbing with the bitterness. She lifted the lid of the teapot and found that it wasn’t filled with tea leaves but instead some black roots and some unidentifiable leaves.

No wonder it was so bitter if it was brewed from these things.

Ah Da walked out of the registration office and took a few deep breaths of fresh air to suppress the lingering bitterness in her mouth.

The yard was empty. In the middle stood a huge blue and white porcelain jar planted with water lotuses. The pink and white buds stood erect among the broad leaves, and there were fish swimming at the bottom of the water.

Ah Da bent over to take a closer look and couldn’t resist taking out her phone to snap a photo of the buds.

For some reason, seeing beautiful flowers always made her subconsciously want to share them with Qin Yu. She was about to send the photo via WeChat but then remembered that Yao Qingzhi had said he was in a meeting. Sending it might disturb him.

Better not.

Ah Da exited WeChat and turned to walk down the path leading into the distance, with two bodyguards following not too far behind. She didn’t see Long Qi and guessed he must have gone to find Qin Yu.

The path connected to a wooden bridge, which wound around the mountain. Bronze Sword was right; the scenery here was indeed quite unique and extraordinary. She wondered how much labor and expense had been invested in the construction, as the greenery and trees along every segment of the road varied, and in the distance, one could see the high-rise buildings at the foot of the mountain.

Feeling a bit tired, Ah Da came upon a pavilion with a view and didn’t think twice before heading inside.

It was only upon entering that she realized someone was there—a little boy, about ten years old.

He sat on the ground, leaning against a pillar and dressed in a dark red striped short-sleeved shirt that nearly matched the color of the pillar. No wonder she hadn’t noticed him at first, Ah Da thought to herself.

The boy’s head was turned to the side, only his small chin visible, as if he were already asleep. Ah Da didn’t want to disturb him, so she tiptoed and turned around, ready to leave.

“Sister.”

A childlike voice called out.

Ah Da’s steps halted, and turning around, she saw the boy lifting his head to look at her. He was smiling, his eyes a dark brown.

“You called me?” Ah Da asked, puzzled.

“Yes, is there anyone else here?” The boy suddenly stretched out his hand to her. His features were childish and looked harmless. He asked softly, “Sister, my legs are numb, and I can’t stand up. Can you help me up?”

His words sounded rather pitiable, and since he was a child, Ah Da saw no reason not to help.

She walked over and pulled him up, noticing leaves in his hair and thoughtfully took them off and discarded them.

Suddenly, the boy hugged her waist tightly, burying his head in her abdomen, which startled Ah Da. She instinctively pushed him away, letting go immediately.

Ah Da stepped back, “Why are you hugging me?”

The boy looked up at her, his expression innocent. He said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. Are you angry, sister?”

Ah Da was silent for a moment. To say she was angry wasn’t exactly true. She simply stated, “You shouldn’t just hug people randomly. It’s not appropriate.”

The boy smiled, his delicate features both youthful and handsome. He obediently said, “I understand.”

“Sister, you smell so nice, I like you.”

His last statement left Ah Da feeling somewhat perplexed, as if there was something odd about it. Did she have a scent?

Perhaps it was the aroma of incense.
