The Tycoon's Enchanted Mermaid-Chapter 61 - : Meeting Lu Jing
Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Meeting Lu Jing
“Hey, big sis, my name is Lu Jing. What’s your name?”
The boy introduced himself and walked over trying to grab her hand as naturally as if they were old friends. Ah Da reflexively raised her hand and skillfully dodged his attempt.
Lu Jing hung his head in disappointment and said, “Don’t you like me, big sister? Nobody likes me, is it because I look annoying?”
His words sounded a bit pitiful. He was all alone here; had something happened to him?
Feeling a pang of sympathy, Ah Da squatted down and asked, “Your name is Lu Jing, right? Why are you here alone?”
“My brother and I came here to play, but he left me behind because I was walking too slowly and went up the mountain alone.”
...
“He scolded me, and he hit me.”
As he spoke, Lu Jing suddenly started crying, covering his eyes with his hands and his shoulders shuddering with sobs. It was as if he was about to say how pitiful he was.
However, after crying for a while without receiving any comfort from the girl, he stealthily lowered his hands to reveal a pair of dark brown eyes to sneak a peek, but she caught him red-handed.
The two of them stared at each other, the atmosphere turning a bit awkward.
Lu Jing’s eyes were clear and beautiful, with a slight uptick at the corners, but unfortunately, there were no signs of tear-induced redness or swelling.
Ah Da pursed her lips, staring at him, and deliberately asked, “You cry without shedding any tears, are you made of stone?”
Lu Jing: “…”
Ah Da was the one who should be speechless. This kid faked crying so convincingly; he was so experienced that it was obviously not his first time. Even when caught in the act, he showed no signs of panic and was as calm as an adult.
She was almost fooled.
Ah Da was inwardly annoyed.
After a moment of silence, Lu Jing put down his chubby little hands and said with a hint of regret, “Ah, caught in the act, what a drag.”
Look at that attitude. Ah Da was genuinely angry now. He looked no more than ten years old; how could he have so many tricks up his sleeve?
The earlier claim that his leg was numb and he needed her to pull him might have been an act too. And the story about his brother abandoning him because he walked too slowly was probably false as well. Were any of his words true?
Nothing but lies.
Ah Da’s brows furrowed tightly, and her porcelain cheeks were tinged with an iridescent red from anger: “Why do you lie?”
Lu Jing tilted his head and smiled.
“Because… it’s fun.”
“Don’t you find it interesting to see others get anxious?”
Successfully having witnessed the girl’s irritation, Lu Jing was blissfully unaware of any fault on his part, and even praised her cheerily, “But you didn’t fall for it, big sis, you’re pretty smart.”
Smart my foot, unrepentant and acting high and mighty.
Ah Da suddenly stood up, her voice tinged with deep anger, “It’s not that I’m smart; it’s that your crying is too fake.”

“Is that so? No one has ever told me that before.” Lu Jing grinned, showing off two rows of pearly white teeth and a hint of mischief on his youthful face. He asked, “So, big sis, can you teach me how to cry for real? I’ll study really hard.”
Ah Da refused: “I won’t teach you.”
“Why?”
“Because you lie.”
Lu Jing stepped closer, “Then I promise I won’t lie to you in the future.”
Ah Da stepped back, not giving him a chance. After all, they were strangers, “There won’t be a next time. Goodbye.”
For some reason, she always felt that there was something odd about this little boy named Lu Jing, something not quite right.
At that moment, the cell phone in her backpack suddenly vibrated. Ah Da took it out and discovered that it was a call from Qin Yu. It was probably Long Qi who had told him that she was also at Lingcheng Mountain.
Ah Da raised her eyes to glance at Lu Jing, then ignored him, turned, and left the sightseeing pavilion, answering her phone, “Hello.”
“Where have you been roaming?”
Qin Yu’s voice came through the receiver, sounding like spring water striking stones, as clear and mellow as wine, gently wafting into her ears, sending a shiver through them.
The frustration that had just surged up within her subsided.
With slightly parted cherry lips, Ah Da replied in an unconsciously aggrieved tone, “I was just staying in a pavilion for a while; I don’t know exactly where.”
“Isn’t it fun?” Qin Yu asked.
Ah Da said, “No, the scenery is very beautiful; you can see far.” If one ignored that boy named Lu Jing.
Qin Yu told her, “You can see even farther from the mountaintop; you can take a car up there. Do you want to go?”
“Yes.” Ah Da immediately agreed, wanting to see the view from the mountaintop as well.
Thinking of this, the corners of the girl’s mouth curled up in a gentle smile, lightly rippling at the edge of her lips, her pure and flawless face resembling a shy, yet beautiful, blooming flower, stirring the soul.
Inside the pavilion, Lu Jing quietly watched, perfectly able to see the profile of the girl from his angle, naturally capturing the lively charm of her eyebrows, interesting. Just now she was quite severe with him and now a single phone call had cheered her up this much?
Upon seeing two suited bodyguards appearing behind the girl in protective stances, Lu Jing’s expression grew even darker, his dark brown eyes shedding their disguise to reveal a hint of malice.
He stepped out of the pavilion at an unhurried pace, with two agile figures emerging from a side path on the left, obviously having been hiding in the shadows.
“Second Young Master.”
“Who are those two?” Lu Jing asked.
“They should be from the Qin Family; Qin Yu is also on Lingcheng Mountain today. It’s rumored that the Abnormal Person Concentration Management Registration Office is backed by the Capital City Qin Family; it seems true.”
Lu Jing squinted his eyes: “Should be?”
“Second Young Master, the eldest young master once said that the Qin Family holds great power in Capital City and instructed us to avoid their sharpness when we are out. We didn’t dare to act rashly.”
Lu Jing looked up, his frown tinged with irritation: “Did he call again? What did you say?”
The subordinate bowed deeply: “The eldest young master asked where you were; we didn’t dare disobey and could only tell the truth.”
“Oh.” Lu Jing paused and then asked with a smile, “Did you also tell him about that girl just now?”
Seeing Lu Jing’s cold smile, the subordinate trembled more violently and hastily said, “No, we only mentioned that the Second Young Master was at Lingcheng Mountain, didn’t reveal whom the Second Young Master had seen or known.”
Lu Jing nodded, fairly satisfied with this response, then warned, “What just happened and who was involved, you must keep absolutely secret. If Lu Yuan finds out, I’ll chop you up and feed you to the piranhas.”
Though looking like a child, his actions were ghostly fierce.
The Lu brothers’ secret hung over everyone like dark clouds, the two of them sweating profusely from fear, because they knew Lu Jing was not merely talking; he would actually do what he said, their heads nearly touching the ground.
“Understood, Second Young Master.”
Lu Jing’s youthful face turned rigid: “Also, check the identity of that girl from earlier. Remember, be discreet, don’t alert anyone.”
“Yes.”
Looking in the direction Ah Da had left, Lu Jing’s expression turned somber, entangled with the Qin Family, which might complicate things.
However, if it turned out as he had speculated, he wouldn’t be the only one anxious by then; he truly hoped for that day to come.
Lu Jing sneered and turned to walk down the mountain via another path. He couldn’t stay here any longer; Lu Yuan was like a persistent fly, impossible to shake off; he just wanted to find a quiet place to stay for a while.
Ah Da, holding her phone, leisurely walked back to the registration office.
“Qin Yu, why are you at Lingcheng Mountain, and did you know in advance that I was coming here?”
“My grandfather and Master Ting Chan were old friends, and I came here this time for some matters that need resolving,” Qin Yu said. “As for you,” he continued, “I genuinely didn’t know this morning.”
