The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth-Chapter 55: The Dragon watches
Chapter 55: The Dragon watches
His booming voice left everyone surprised and stunned. They looked at each other and the whispers spread.
Traitor?
The Vassals have been reduced? What’s happening?
Drenvar let them talk. He watched with impassive eyes as both fear and excitement spread.
Then he raised his hand and silence reigned once more. "They plot behind my back. To hurt the family they swore to protect! They turned their backs on the Dragon!
"My Watch has carried out his duties. The traitor has been given the treatment of the Dragon! My commander, Fenris Vorrakyn, has also answered my orders, and judgment has been carried out!"
Vacuse hid a smile and put another mental note up in his mind.
’..I’m going to stop the use of ’Dragon’ in naming things here... it’s too overused...’ He silently made that fun in his mind.
Suddenly, a presence filled the platform with oppressive aura as Zorathian appeared. The aura spilled over and those below flinched as they realized who it was.
He was still cloaked with the black cloak, but something was different about him and everyone took notice immediately.
Drenvar’s eyes narrowed as he saw Zorathian’s eyes.
It wasn’t just red again. There was now a triangular shape in his red eyes. Not only that, his face was now more healthy, less pale, as if he finally had blood running in his veins.
Zorathian went to his knees and it was then that Vacuse noticed the bloody sack in his right hand. The full sack hit the ground with a fleshy thump.
His voice was clear. "Your Honorable Grace, I, Zorathian Vorrakyn, your Watch and commander of the Dragon Guard, am here. I have carried out your mission. This is the head of the traitor!"
Zorathian reached into the sack and brought out a head.
The head was that of a middle-aged man with clenched teeth and lifeless cold eyes. The face was still carved in shock and surprise.
Zorathian raised the head and showed it to the people below, who sucked in sharp breath as they saw it.
Drenvar nodded in satisfaction. "The Aelarion family has been dealt with! Hear my words!"
Immediately, everyone below went to their knees and those around Drenvar bowed.
"Let these words be taken to all the ears that would hear. The Aelarions have betrayed the Dragon and now the fangs and claws of the Dragon have found them. Their family is now destroyed, on orders of I, Drenvar Vorrakyn, the Dragon Lord!"
People stirred in shock and looked at each other in surprise.
Zorathian threw the head to one of the Guards and then he brought another one, the one that belonged to Captain Yemi. The man’s face was now slack and half of it was eaten by some acidic substance.
One by one, he brought out different heads from the sack.
All of them were direct descendants of the Aelarion. But Vacuse knew how the Vorrakyn deal with traitors, including their families. Even all the distant families are taken care of.
Zorathian would have sent assassins to everyone who was related to his target and wiped them out together at once. That was why he was the Watch.
And the Wing Brigade dealt with the Aelarions’ armies.
All the other Vassals would have been notified to know their stance, but in truth, small armies would be sent to the other Vassals in case they wanted to help their ’ally’.
Nobody helped the Aelarions.
It was a total slaughter, and in just a night and through to the day, they were wiped out of the Western Region.
"Their territory will come under the direct control of the Vorrakyn. Do not forget. The Dragon watches!"
Drenvar clapped and the people stood up. They shared glances and then left the courtyard.
Already, runners were getting ready to send the Dragon Lord’s words to every corner of the West.
"You will hang their heads on poles outside the palace. I want it to be a warning to all those that attend my victorious ceremony the day after tomorrow.
"Right, Vacuse. That’s the day of your dinner. Prepare yourself."
Vacuse clasped his hand and bowed.
Fenris and Skya Vorrakyn bowed and followed Drenvar as he left the platform. novelbuddy-cσ๓
Zorathian said quick orders to his Guards on how to handle the heads. He gestured and Vacuse’s Guards gave them space.
Then he turned to Vacuse, his new eyes like a razor. "My Lord, how do you know?"
Vacuse smirked and raised his hand. "The Dragon watches."
Zorathian’s hand went to his eyes and he touched his tender flesh. His frown deepened. "This is no joking matter, My Lord. Even I don’t know about this and I doubt even the Dragon Lord knew until he saw the eyes.
"My Lord, how do you know?"
Vacuse stopped smiling and he looked down at the courtyard. "Zorathian. What did you see when you reached the boy’s place?"
The Watch looked at him with a strange look but he shrugged. "Golden fields and warm smile with peaceful air. The boy has bright eyes and warmth. His mother strong and bold. She died for her son. She believed in what she chose."
Vacuse nodded and put the words in his heart. What he heard was a reminder of what his old life was, where things could be easily taken away from him. And a warning of his new life, where everything could also be taken if he wasn’t strong enough to stop it.
What he did wasn’t right. Vacuse accepted it, but it wasn’t a situation of right or wrong. It’s not a world of justice. It’s a world of the strong and the weak.
"You don’t need to know how I know. You only need to obey and go where I point you. You have your price. You now have to do the work."
Zorathian looked at him curiously. "Who do you want to kill now?"
"There’s a poison. It’s called the Low Moonlight. You will use it tonight."
Vacuse then turned to go. His Guards closed around him.
Zorathian watched him go with a speculative expression on his face.
