Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards-Chapter 562 - 380: The Melee Begins
At the base of the black tower, the heavy and tall brass door was completely open, and variously dressed superhumans formed small teams and streamed in, starting the hunt they had long awaited.
Leading the team at the very front was a skinny teenager dressed in shorts, a t-shirt, and flip-flops, brimming with an arrogance completely unmatched to his appearance, as if he feared nothing, and this was the brash young superhuman who had once participated in the roundup of players at the big market town, aptly named Wild Bee.
"Trash! Your grandpa Wild Bee is here to find you!"
He walked boldly upfront, shouting unabashedly, seemingly unconcerned about any ambushes lying in wait ahead.
Behind this brash kid, six other superhumans of the same team appeared more composed.
Among them were a short and stout middle-aged man, two young men, two young women, and a boy about the same age as the brash teenager at the front.
He seemed unremarkable at the moment, but if the Xia Country gun-wielding player who had fled into the tower earlier were here, they would undoubtedly recognize him as the muscle-bound young superhuman who had thwarted them previously.
"Why is the space inside this tower so vast? Just as the boss predicted, anything related to outsiders is definitely peculiar."
The rotund middle-aged man with rounded eyes was muttering while observing the surroundings, intentionally slowing his pace, causing the brash boy upfront to drift further away from their group of six. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Yes, Tu, this tower is extremely strange, and the people behind us have vanished."
The tall, young, blonde man behind him nodded immediately, glancing back at the brass door they had just entered through. It was evident that he noticed their companions from other teams were nowhere to be seen outside.
"It must be some sort of spatial ability; no idea what awaits us inside. Let’s have Wild Bee scout it out first."
The stout middle-aged man responded, stroking his chin, showing caution but no intention of retreating.
After all, their superhuman team had only just entered, and no matter how strange the situation seemed, they needed to investigate thoroughly before considering retreat; otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to account to their leader.
"Look! There’s a square ahead! There are lots of statues there!"
One of the young red-haired women among the six exclaimed, raising her hand to point further ahead, even beyond where Wild Bee was charging. Her eyes were filled with curiosity along with caution.
Following her direction, they could see up ahead where a large square suddenly appeared in front of them. Originally, they had been walking along a corridor, not expecting such a massive space beyond, vastly exceeding the land area they had observed from outside the black tower.
"Be careful! Those are definitely not ordinary statues! My intuition tells me they’re full of hostility!"
A sturdy young man with glasses standing next to the red-haired woman raised his voice in caution. Despite wearing glasses, he had his eyes closed as he spoke, exhibiting a calm and serious expression.
His words made the six trailing behind halt immediately, and with tacit understanding, they watched as Wild Bee ran into the square’s center. The following moment, thunderous sounds echoed, as the towering statues around the square began to move! They surrounded Wild Bee, encroaching on their domain!
It’s hard to describe what kind of statues these were since they did not have uniform appearances nor styles. Some were crude beast sculptures, while others were intricately detailed female statues. The only commonality was their eyes emitting deep purple beams, akin to purple lasers attacking Wild Bee encircled in the midst.
"Awesome! Awesome! Let grandpa have all of you attack at once! Ah!!! It’s so thrilling!!! Keep going!!! Don’t stop!!!"
In the square’s center, withstanding all the attacks from the purple beams, Wild Bee had no intention to dodge. He stood foolishly, letting the potent unknown beams pierce his skinny body, and in almost no time, his body was full of holes, yet he still stood, appearing vigorous and shouting phrases seemingly uttered by a madman.
"Glasses, how’s it?"
The six who didn’t enter the square didn’t seem to have any intention of rescuing their crazed comrade. The stout middle-aged man questioned the sturdy young man with glasses, while the other four stood protectively around him, prepared for potential attacks.
"My perception tells me those purple beams are a very special attack, but can be blocked in various ways; they’re not too troublesome... The statues all have a core inside their chests, I guess destroying this core would completely end them... No other noteworthy areas so far, nor any passageways found..."
The strong young man with glasses finished speaking, reopened his eyes, and the surrounding five immediately scattered a bit, expressions relaxed somewhat.
"Xiaomeng, Green Eagle, you two have the strongest destructive abilities, take care of those statues. I’ll use my powers to try and restrain them so you can act safely, the others can assist; take down one at a time if possible."
