The Raven's POV-Chapter 37: I have a theory

"If even one is missing, the person can not be called a sentient being"

No one interrupted him. He was drawing a mental image, a bigger picture from all the pieces in the room from screen to screen– even if he was being annoying going about it.

"So remember this, no mind means the soul is unprotected. We will come back to that later. Let me explain more about the creature we are dealing with."

He clicked a few buttons on a nearby panel by the wall, lowering a white board that was mounted on the wall that was facing the chamber. There was a small lever near the white board which everyone ignored, they were not here to find how Norman’s lab worked nor were they interested.

"Ah, fuck off. Will ya quit your acting or not?"

"You can always leave, Elder Mike"

"We are not doing this again" , Elder Hinobi released an exasperated sigh.

Her hands were dangerously close to a nearby runic circuit.

"I swear this is to better understand what we are dealing with, please put that pen down"

Elder Wong’s eyes glowed for a fraction of a second as Elder Norman said that.

Elder Norman picked out a marker and became writing

1st - persistent vegetative state.

2nd - two souls colliding.

He drew a circle over the two, to mark them as important

"Now, Monster #V, V is a placeholder, while researchers and academics all over the world are deliberating on a proper name for... past 15 years"

His explanations were accompanied by hand movements and animated face expressions like he was explaining about his favourite hobby rather than a potentially dangerous monster.

"First appearance – Veînorśe Continent

Time – During the end of war against the heretics, specifically against the cult of doom preachers."

"During the end of War, the heretics managed to destroy the gate stabilizer of the Veînorśe continent which resulted in a gate unexpectedly opening the middle of the battlefield, nothing came out of the gate but coincidently at the same time a creature broke free from the heretic’s containment facility resulting in massive casualty toll"

"We could not ascertain what is on the other side of the gate, Every team that was sent inside the gate never returned, and due essence concentration near the gate, getting an footage is impossible, the location is now classified as a dead zone with maximum level restriction on access"

"The creature that emerged from the facility wiped out all the heretics before moving on to the battlefield where it injured Arius the undead king to the brink of death. It took him a whole year to recover, but he had amnesia resulting in the loss of all of his memories."

"The doctors could not ascertain if Amnesia was caused by the attack or not to this day"

"The creature after attacking Arius had a reaction, where it split off into 2 entities, one vaguely humanoid, other an amalgamation of flesh, witness testimony say that they saw, ’amalgamation chasing the humanoid ’"

"After that day we were unable to find the main body of this creature but we have discovered 13 variants, each more dreadful than the other"

"Any questions?"

They had none. Or rather they didn’t care, as they could not see how any of this was relevant to the current case.

"So back to the creature, it shows a unique trait which makes it dangerous.

It can mimic the prey it devours down to the cellular level"

"Creature seem to be a type of hivemind, we have observed hurting a variant, causes other variants to feel the pain"

"Only thing defining trait of creature are its eyes and blood, both black in colour"

"Now this is where it gets interesting, Its blood can devour life to replicate itself and the creature can devour living organisms to heal itself "

"Still manageable, you would say but you see, while the replicated blood can be destroyed, main body however, cannot be destroyed, we lack the means to damage it"

"We have identified 13 variants, 4 of which were captured, other 9 variants are still out there, hidden from sight. Our academy have received one such variant for research"

"You can think of this creature as an ink, the more water you dissolve it in, the more it dilutes, we can get rid of diluted material but the original drop of ink is indestructable."

"Difference between variant and main body is that the main body is made completely of the original unknown material while the variants originate from a fragment that split off,

We have been unable to trace the main body so far, but variants pop up here and there"

"How do we find variants? Simple, these variants have no soul, only pieces of it , they are like drones, searching for something."

"Now here is my theory"

He began.

Back in the mind realm

As Rowayne touches the water, the water rippled

At first nothing happened.

As the gargantuan tentacle was about to crush him under its weight, a Giant hand emerged from the water and grabbed the tentacle in its place

Following that. More and more hands emerged from water intercepting the tentacles.

"An interesting use of authority, yes that’s how it should be"

The figure had a wide grin on its face. Clearly enjoying Rowayne’s struggles.

"But"

He used his finger to point at Rowayne

"It is inefficient, inconsistent and unpredictable, look at those"

He pointed at a couple of hands, some of which were misshaped, some missing fingers and their size differed greatly.

"You cannot even control them, they can only follow the most basic of commands"

’Follow commands?’

That gave Rowayne an idea

He mentally instructed the hands to go up

And sure enough,

the water trembled, five long pillars of different length rose in succession, on a closer look, they were fingers,

Fingers of a gigantic hand, Rowayne was

in its palm. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

The palm rose higher and higher as if trying to reach the heavens, carrying Rowayne with it.
