The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 87: The Boss
Everyone was up again and they were heading around, in search of the Boss room – several monsters had attacked and they had won, more and more crystals had been harvested and the party was in a good mood.
Rem could still feel the occasional gaze on him but it had died down in tone considerably, now it was an occasional glance.
"It seems we’re nearing the boss," Rem heard the Magus say, C-grade dungeons weren’t usually supposed to stretch on for this long but Rem had never been in this kind of dungeon before... he hadn’t seen these monsters so he wasn’t sure how the boss room would look like.
The chatting drowned out the tension in the air, it was an advantage of having many members in a party – everyone talked to the other person to ease the tension of stepping into the unknown, soon they reached a point where the ground beneath them began to get soggy.
"Everyone keep your defenses up, this might be another monster," Mark instructed and then the sand became more wetter, the more they advanced deeper until the point it began swallowing them whole. Mark urged them not to panic and they were soon submerged within the sand.
The party continued drowning in the wet sand, some were showing a bit of difficulty while others were showing their resolve... Rem on the other hand merely shrugged as he continued traversing downward through the sand and soil, It only took the party a few seconds before they emerged from below, back into fresh air.
As soon as they reached the ground, some started panting for air while others stood strong, they were now in a dangerous place – not all Boss rooms had doors, others had variations based on their Dungeons and this was one of them, a variation of a Boss room with a gigantic dragon made of sand slithering toward them.
"Formation!" Mark cried out while charging his sword with soul energy and the party sprung into action, Rem looked at the Sanddragon with interest in his eyes but he had to adhere to the formation... he was situated right behind Tony, as an Apprentice, he would be behind a group of Cavaliers when moving in for the attack.
"Attack!" Mark exclaimed while pointing the sword at the advancing Sanddragon, the Cavaliers as well as Rem responded with a quick dash, brandishing their magical iron and steel swords respectively while taking the Monster on.
Mark glanced at the grass Magus and pointed at the Sanddragon, multiple roots shooting from the ground and preparing to wrap around the Sanddragon. The Boss halted and let out a powerful roar, stopping both the Cavaliers and the roots in their tracks within a moment’s notice...
Rem quickly steadied himself, gathering himself as he realized the roar was not a regular roar but a use of intimidation.
’If I absorb it’s soul, I might get that skill,’ Rem thought and charged at the Sanddragon, there were a few other Cavaliers that had refused to succumb to it’s intimidation and they were moving beside Rem – the people that had succumbed to the influence were paused in place, unable to move.
"Now strike!" The redhead Cavalier exclaimed as he increased his speed and leapt through the air, slashing at the neck of the Sanddragon – the slash was filled with soul energy so it left a mark although the mark was soon covered with steam, healing up in an instant.
Rem observed this yet continued his dash, it was already clear how to defeat the monster – since it’s regeneration was so quick, there were two ways to defeat it. The first one would be to strike at multiple places and wear down the regeneration, this required the other Cavaliers to be on the level of the redhead which Rem doubted... and then the second was to attack multiple places so quickly that the Monster would have such a hard time keeping up his regeneration.
Rem appeared at the Boss’s side, his speed increasing yet again – nothing too eye-catching but it was faster than all of the other Cavaliers that dashed with him, the Boss noticed him in an instant and raised it’s tail up, bringing it down in a moment’s notice to smash Rem...
’I wonder why all the Bosses notice me first,’ Rem thought, ’I guess it has something to do with me having the Monster Monarch System but they shouldn’t want to kill me everytime they glance at me,’
Rem leapt into the air and evaded the tail that came smashing against the ground, sending ripples through the air and shockwaves across the ground... as expected of a C-grade Boss, the Redhead grabbed onto Rem’s hand and smiled.
"You have some grit, go for the eyes!" He said and spun Rem around mid-air before shooting him into the air, straight for the Sanddragon’s eyes, "Use Maximum Soul energy, It’s not a normal boss!"
The Redhead’s voice was drowned out in Rem’s ears, he was shooting through the air at such an unbelievable speed yet he managed to retain composure.
’Full impact of my soul energy and I might land an incredibly fatal strike, I’ll cut it to quarter,’ Rem thought while he continued shooting up, his hands tightly gripped his sword – Rem reached the Sanddragon’s eyes and swung the blade with maximum precision, slicing through both eyes within an instant and even slashing through the face within an instant. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Rem landed on the face of the Sanddragon and the Boss huffed, gathering magical energy in it’s mouth but Rem leapt backward, flipping through the air and maintaining composure through it all.
"Charge!"
He heard the other Cavaliers nearby, attacking the Sanddragon as it was now constricted by roots, The Healer was providing assistance to the injured Cavaliers and Mark had joined in the attack, climbing the Sanddragon’s spine and aiming to strike the head... but nobody could do anything about the orb that was being formed rapidly, Rem only sighed before using one of his latest skills... they wouldn’t be able to trace it to him anyway.
The ground rumbled, Rem had triggered Earth power!
