The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 88: A New Boss?
A fissure transversed through the ground, heading toward the Sanddragon with terrifying attacking power, the fissure surged with earth magic and the Cavaliers struggled to comprehend what could have caused it... they immediately began moving away, the crack intensified the closer it drew to the Sanddragon.
Detecting the immediate danger, the Sanddragon hurled the orb of energy it had been gathering at the fissure but it was all for naught, the orb was held back by a cluster of roots – the grass Magus understood that this would help them stop the Boss and therefore she decided to assist whoever casted this spell.
But what she didn’t know was as long as Rem kept supplying the fissure with Magical energy, it couldn’t be stopped so it didn’t matter if she held back the orb... The grass Magus gritted her teeth and let out a small chant, Grass spells became more powerful the more light that shone upon them.
It was akin to a growing plant, this plant wouldn’t be able to grow properly without proper use of sunlight – there was light in the dungeon initially but as they had sunk into a deeper floor below even the sand, there wasn’t much light to work with which was why her attacks were being treated as pushovers.
"Mini Sun!" She finished the chant, projecting a mini-sun into the air... the wet sandy ceiling instantly began heating up and the same could be said for the room, the Mini sun was imitating the effects of the sun and that meant...
The roots were slowly bulking up, their dark green figures growing vibrant and a terrifying amount of energy emanated from them... they wrapped around the destructive orb and absorbed it’s destructive nature in an instant. The Magus’s cloak flowed in the wind as she pointed a finger at the Sanddragon.
The ground began vibrating, holes were being formed on the ground – beneath those holes were roots, bound to spring up at any moment. The Sanddragon let out a shriek as Mark’s sword tore into it’s flesh, right at the nape.
’I’ve been waiting for an opportunity,’ Mark said, soul energy brimming within his blade, ’To use my Skill!’
Several crimson flashes raged around the blade, slashing and searing deeper and deeper within the Sanddragon’s colossal figure – the roots shot out of the ground and encased the Sanddragon, piercing it with spikes.
Rem landed on the ground and dusted his body, using Earth power took quite a huge chunk from his energy reserves but all of it was for good measure, the fissure was almost to the Sanddragon... everyone could see their victory until the Boss pulled off something that even surprised Rem.
It roared and sent several shockwaves cascading across the battlefield, the shockwaves were powerful enough to send both the Magus and the Cavaliers flying backward... Mark had been affected by the shockwaves as well, his body shot through the air and buried itself within the wall of the Dungeon with a powerful crunch.
Rem stood still through it all, he had been subjected to far more terrible winds by Walter, he then sighted the Monster regaining his bearings, everyone was still dazed from the sudden attack and that gave him an edge – he smashed his knuckles into the ground and pumped magical energy into it... the fissure which had been stopped by the Shockwaves powered up again with renewed vigor and finally cracked under the Boss.
The cracks spread quickly and enveloped the ground below the Sanddragon, this created a hole which swallowed the Sanddragon whole... crushing it within the Earth, Earth power worked like that, the more magical power supplied to the fissure, the more the intensity of the crushing would increase and in this case, one could hear the bones and the very being of the Sanddragon being crushed under the Earth... Rem let go of the ground and fell onto his back, the Magus had started stirring and if she sensed his magical energy, it would be revealing one of his biggest advantages to the group.
The Earth parted once again, revealing the smashed body of the Sanddragon... at least what remained of the Boss Monster but amidst the sandy corpse, one could see the brilliance of a magic stone that glowed.
Mark fell from the crater he formed at the wall and smashed against the ground, despite the damage dealt, Mark was still very much alive with wounds that hurt a little.
’I didn’t even get to use my ability,’
The Captain sat up and observed the orb, then his eyes went to the other Cavaliers who were sitting up now, their eyes were wide in shock.
"We did it!" The Redhead cavalier cried out, his victory cry going into the ears of every Cavalier present, "We fucking did it!" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Language," The grass Magus managed to say with a sigh, "There are underage children here,"
"Not now Ruby!" The Redhead exclaimed while leaping around the battlefield, his eyes landed on Rem and he appeared in front of the Apprentice, helping the boy up, "You were of great help today,"
Rem didn’t say anything but gave a grateful nod.
"Mute, aren’t we? Why don’t we go for a drink?" The Redhead asked while patting Rem’s back.
"Drink?" Rem muttered and tilted his head to one side, he was confused, "What does that mean?"
A chuckle escaped the Redhead’s lips.
"You see it’s when Raiders like us come together and have a sip of alcohol, tea, juice, anything you want – something like a feast to celebrate an achievement," He said.
’Wait, killing a C-grade boss is an achievement? I’ve killed so many already, does that mean I should have gone on a drink each time I killed one?’ Rem wondered.
"Don’t worry, follow me when we leave here," The Redhead said, "I’ll take you out on a nice drink,"
Despite the monster being defeated, there was still no sign of the Escape portal anywhere... Rem narrowed his eyes at a Cavalier who had gone ahead to lift the Magic stone, a claw suddenly shot out of the core and penetrated the Cavalier straight in the chest, the Cavalier could barely react as his body was sent sailing backward and crashing into the ground... a pool of blood covering his figure, Rem stared into his dead eyes and was reminded of his.
The orb rotated with magical energy bursting within each rotation, more sand formed around the orb and soon encased it, it took seconds but Rem could finally see the True boss of the dungeon.
’Sand Golem Boss, C-grade’
The party was surprised at the new appearance but there was something that was surprising about this Boss Monster – something they hadn’t expected to see, Sand spread over the corpse and engulfed it whole before drawing it closer to it’s mouth, and then in front of all of the stunned Cavaliers, the monster devoured the corpse.
As soon as the corpse was devoured, Rem felt the magical pressure of the Monster increase and several Sandwolves suddenly appear, each of them heading for the party... Rem knew this feeling, he had experienced it ever since he entered the dungeon, The Apprentice brandished his blade and began charging forth to meet the Monsters alongside other Cavaliers.
The feelings of the numbers being stacked against them...
They were getting jumped.
