Chapter 158: The Glacian (Part 1)

"Use your fire to blast them," Tero spoke with urgency as the air began to rattle, several Nightroaches were soaring through the air toward them.

Rem shook his head as the buzzes of the Monsters grew closer; his fire on his palm was the only thing illuminating the surroundings. Although Rem would have preferred Tero using his spell to do it, he couldn’t risk losing the metals – they were important.

With a single motion, Rem raised his right hand up and flames swirled around it, lighting up the cave even more – a permeating heat emanated from Rem’s hands, the power suffused within Rem’s palm was more than enough to make Tero sweat.

The monsters drew closer now and Rem shot forth a powerful ball of flame, far more bigger than anything he had used so far, the attack shot like a meteor right at the Nightroaches advancing toward them – their bodies were burned, leaving behind their armor that lay on the ground.

After destroying the Nightroaches, the fireball kept spiraling forward until finally crashing against a wall, as soon as the fireball met the wall – it dispersed, unable to destroy the wall in front of it.

Tero stored all the metal in his storage ring and soon the duo walked to the wall, the path that they had been following led them to a wall? 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"The Monster’s energy is on the other side of the wall," Rem said, placing a hand on the wall and closing his eyes, "But it’s extremely thick, even my flames won’t be able to do anything to reach the other side,"

"Then I guess it’s lucky you have me then," Tero said and Rem took a few steps backward, watching magical energy pulse in Tero’s hand. The Apprentice placed his hand on the wall and took a deep breath, his magical energy pulsing around the thick wall.

The process was not an easy one and Rem knew it, Tero was rearranging the Molecular structure of the wall, it might have been easier to use the spell he had done before but that would waste an unnecessary amount of magical energy – the monster that they had been searching for was lurking on the other side of this wall after all.

The wall vibrated and shook under Tero’s palm, its molecular structure forcefully being rearranged. Rem witnessed the thick wall crumble down into nothingness and subconsciously he took a step back – with the wall broken, he could sense the full intensity of the monster within... and it was far much stronger than he had expected.

Tero was visibly shaken as well but his eyes were soon filled with determination, the duo of Apprentices stepped through and entered a room – this was the very center of the Cave formation, where the beast lay. This part of the cavern, everything in it was blue... the ground, the rocky walls – they were glowing in an ethereal blue.

The monster stood at the center of the room, reminding Rem of how the bosses were positioned.

The creature stood before them, a formidable beast reminiscent of a lion but far more terrifying. Towering at a height of three meters, it exuded a menacing intent. Its mane, a striking shade of deep blue, glowered with an almost ghostly intensity. The skin beneath it mirrored this hue, appearing both thick and impenetrable, Rem couldn’t see any way for his Shortsword or his Magic steel sword making a dent in the Monster’s skin. Its crimson eyes gleamed with a palpable, murderous intent, their fiery gaze piercing through the darkness. Each of its claws was a pristine red, sharp and proud, digging confidently into the ground as if staking its claim. It was the predator and the Monster knew it...

The insane amount of murderous intent pressed upon both Apprentices, momentarily stopping them from moving. Rem was a little bit surprised, this power was far much greater than the one that they had sensed from afar.

The Monster took a step forward and Tero gritted his teeth, concentrating magical energy into his palms as he prepared to use his spell once again. Rem immediately ran in front of him, his hand on the hilt of his Magic steel sword.

"I’ll keep the boss distracted," Rem said, "Charge your spell up to the maximum and tell me when you’re about to strike,"

Before Tero could say anything, Rem vanished into thin air – appearing in front of the Boss, he couldn’t afford to hold his real physical capabilities in the presence of such a foe.

’Glacian, A-grade’

His blade erupted with flames, bathing the Magic steel in crimson raging flames growing stronger by the second. Rem thrust his sword forward and stabbed into the monster or at least he tried to, his sword bounced off the Monster’s skin as he had expected.

The Glacian lazily raised up it’s front paw, slamming it down on Rem. The single attack caused the ground to rattle, several web-like cracks emerging from beneath the paw.

Rem appeared not too far away from the Glacian, his eyes pulsating with soul energy.

’The attack was not even fully commited,’ Rem thought, ’Yet it almost managed to hit me,’

His Magic steel sword was a little chipped, even with the flames strengthening the sword... that was how tough the skin actually was and Rem couldn’t help but feel excitement, something drew him to continue fighting this monster – to prove his dominance over it.

The wall that Rem saw as the barrier that contained his true power slowly began cracking as Rem raced forward, his body coated in a green aura... he felt his power increase, he appeared in front of the Glacian with purpose and brought forward his chipped sword coated not only empowered by flames but with bursts of soul energy as well and slashed at the paw still planted in the ground.

The Glacian’s eyes widened as a gash appeared on it’s paw, it’s crimson eyes glowered and locked onto Rem – before swiftly slashing him with it’s claws, sending the Apprentice spiraling into the air, several claw marks adorning his skin and leaving deep gashes.
