The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 150: The Glacian’s Territory (Part 1)
The new apprentices made themselves at home, the camp was a cluster of tents within a cave formation – the space within this formation wasn’t lacking and was enough to fit everyone, including the new additions.
Matthew led the others into the caves, he had a storage ring on his index finger – this storage ring contained the essentials, such as tents which he was going to allocate to the two new additions.
Watching the others enter the caves, Rem prepared to enter as well but was stopped by Tero – the kind smile that had been playing at his lips vanished and was replaced by a look of disdain, the weakness of the new people irked him out but as Rem had stated earlier "There was strength in numbers"...
"I know you can sense it as well," Tero said to Rem as he gazed away distantly, "A powerful monster resides within a cave nearby..."
Rem wasn’t surprised, they had Mika as a sensor and she could easily pick up something like this... it wasn’t like the Monster was trying to hide its presence in any way.
"And I know you were planning to head over there," Tero said, "Maybe at a time where we would least suspect it,"
Rem turned to face him, noticing the smug grin on the Silver haired boy’s face.
"And how do you know I would do that?" Rem asked, "I don’t see you in my body, neither do I see you in my mind,"
In truth, he had been planning to visit there – absorbing the soul of such a powerful monster would push him closer to the Reawakening he so desired.
Tero took in a deep breath; he didn’t have a valid argument against that.
"Well you’re not the only one that wants to defeat the Monster," Tero said, "I have to experiment my techniques some more and I figured that the Monser would be the best target,"
Rem gazed at him for a while, unsure of what to say but in the end, he shrugged.
"So we should both partner up and defeat the Monster together?" Rem asked, "Why not take the entire party with us?"
"Because they’ll slow us down," Tero replied, "So are you in or not?"
#####
The dungeon was riddled with small mountains; these small mountains had a network of caves going in and out of them – the routes that these caves led into looked abandoned and confusing, giving them an eerie look.
Rem and Tero stood outside a cave, their eyes shining with determination... one of them hoping to heighten the power of his techniques while the other hoped to absorb the source of the powerful soul energy – both their goals combining into one.
"We should have brought Mika with us," Tero said, sighing in regret, "Her sensory skill would have been invaluable in choosing what cave to enter,"
They were outside a small mountain with lot of cave openings – what were the chances that this cave would take them to the Monster that they desired to meet?
"It’s too late to regret," Rem said while taking out his Magic steel sword from its sheath, "It’s time to push forward,"
He could sense a lot of souls within the cave and knew that an ambush awaited them but it wasn’t anything that they couldn’t fend off. Tero sighed at Rem’s antics and the both of them walked into the cave.
The feeling of the cold rocky surface against their feet was not strange – by now, they were used to it... they were forced to sleep on it every day after all but something felt strange about it.
Monsters suddenly emerged from the shadows, crimson eyes locking onto both of the Apprentices – these Monsters were well within their memory, ranging from Goblins to Blood Scorpions.
Rem assumed a combat stance, soul energy crackling at his feet as he prepared himself for battle. Tero immediately brought his arm forward, trying to use an explosion but Rem held him back, reminding him of where they were.
"Explosions will work in wide open areas," Rem said, "But in enclosed areas like this with delicate structures – your explosions will only harm us in the long-run,"
An explosion could cause a cave-in... there were so many dangers of using an Explosion within such a space. Tero realized this fact and leaped backward, putting space between him and the nearby monsters.
Rem charged forward, moving at a speed that Tero was well acquainted with. He arrived at the side of his first opponent which was a goblin and with one swift movement of his blade, Rem decapitated the monster.
Tero watched Rem decapitate five more monsters easily before finally deciding to join in the battle – ethereal azure soul energy surged around his fists and he locked eyes with a Blood scorpion, rushing at him with murderous intentions.
It’s tail snaked forward, aiming to pierce Tero in the shoulder but the Apprentice was faster, bending to his knees and dodging the attack while rushing right at the Blood scorpion – the soul energy coursing around his fists amplified in output as he gave the monster a powerful uppercut, sending it spiraling into the air.
Tero wasn’t done, he leaped into the air after the Monster, his hand grabbing a hold of the Monster’s tail before ripping it off casually. The Blood Scorpion shrieked in pain but a powerful punch, packed with soul energy slammed into it’s face... the thick skin that the Blood scorpions prided themselves on couldn’t defend it from such an attack and as a result, it was sent flying – it’s body slammed into a nearby wall, blood painting the wall upon impact.
Tero landed on the ground, his gaze falling on a goblin. The intensity of the soul energy cladding his fists like flames rapidly decreased, Tero closed the distance almost instantly while thrusting his fist forward, punching straight through the goblin’s head, letting it’s blood splatter all over his face.
Tero kicked the corpse of the goblin away, his eyes landing on two Blood scorpions this time... the Monsters waiting in hiding to ambush them were a lot and Tero was in doubt at whether this was the correct path but he didn’t let the doubts distract himself from the fight – the soul energy around his fists intensified, burning like flames as he moved forward once again. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
’Strange,’ Rem thought.
