The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 142: Nightroach Territory (Part 2)

Rem stepped deeper into the territory of the Nightroaches with a poker face – he had done as much experiments as possible with the Nightroaches he had seen and so far there were only two ways to kill them.

The first one was by aiming for their eyes and then their underbodies, it didn’t take much energy to do so.

The second one was heating up their armor so much that the Nightroach would burn but Rem decided with the first one, after all, he didn’t have unlimited magic. Besides, Rem didn’t want to damage the armor which was why he stored them in his inventory.

Resources for crafting weapons as well as armor were mostly found in the dungeon, which was part of the reason why the skins of some Monsters were very important to the GUILD. Rem stored the little shells of armor that the Nightroaches had in his Inventory to not only sell to the GUILD but also take to the smith.

"I planned to visit a smith in Orion," Rem muttered under his breath, "Well with these resources, I should be able to craft something really good,"

As much as he wanted to stay and analyze the durability of this alloy, the cave was irking him out by the second.

"I’m no longer seeing any Monsters," Rem noticed as he expanded his senses, the deepest part of the cave formation was up ahead and Rem could sense a strong soul, "I guess I took out all of the Nightroaches,"

Without a hint of fear in him, Rem took a step into the final part of the cavern. Unlike the other parts of this territory that had been as dark as the night, this one had light in it.

"So you are?" Rem wondered while looking at the Nightroach standing in the center of the room – it bore a lot of similarities with a regular Nightroach but there was one difference that was unmistakable, it’s skin was not black, it was pale white.

Nightroach were black because their colors blended perfectly in the darkness of the night but this one stood out, and Rem knew what caused it once he observed the name of this Monster.

’Mutated Nightroach, B-grade’

"It’s still surprising at how a mutation can increase the grade of a monster," Rem muttered as he looked at the pale blue eyes of the Nightroach, it looked like a stark difference from the Monsters he had tormented earlier.

Energy condensed in front of the Nightroach and a pale blue beam of energy shot through the air, aiming right at Rem who dodged the attack with a side-step, letting it crash into the dungeon wall and make a big dent in it. He looked at the monster and saw it condense yet another attack.

The blue beam of energy pierced through the air but Rem didn’t move, instead he stretched his arm forward and met the beam only for it to bounce off his palm, splitting into several beams of light and hitting other sides of the cave.

The newest skill he had, one that he had gotten from the Nightroaches – Body Hardening. He was able to harden any part of his body to a certain degree, of course this skill couldn’t be used alongside the others as even a partial hardening increased his weight by a lot.

Rem pulled back his hand and placed it in his pocket while walking toward the Nightroach in front of him, the Monster stepped back a bit before spreading it’s wings. Rem watched as the armor at the back of the Monster parted and his eyes glowed.

’It’s much more higher in quality than the ones I got from the earlier Nightroaches,’ Rem thought as he admired the glass-like armor, but he could see it was much more denser than what he had been storing since.

Several orbs of flames formed behind Rem as he stretched his palm forward, shooting all of them at the Nightroach. The underbody of the monster was revealed and Rem aimed at it, hoping to finish the monster as quickly as possible.

But the Nightroach proved to be a more daring opponent, weaving around the balls of flame with unbelievable speed, the fireballs that the Nightroach couldn’t dodge were blasted into oblivion by the Nightroach’s energy attack.

Rem watched the Monster with cautious eyes, he admired the show of speed that was happening in front of him but with each passing moment, it grew boring.

The Nightroach blasted at Rem with the beam of energy, thinking that it had caught the Apprentice off-guard but Rem vanished into thin-air, the beam of energy hitting the ground where he had been standing.

He appeared in front of the Nightroach, taking in a lot of the Monster’s features before destroying it’s underbody with radical crimson flames, leaving the armor intact.

Before the armor of the Nightroach were able to touch the ground, it was sucked into the void of Rem’s inventory – to be experimented on later.

Rem looked around the room and smiled a bit at his luck as he observed an item.

’A Magic Steel sword,’ Rem thought as he knelt beside the weapon – this was the only item in the room and Rem assumed it to be the only treasure that the Nightroaches had, ’This means that one of the Cavaliers have been here,’

He observed the Nightroaches to be the kind of Monsters that wouldn’t leave the comfort of their cave which meant that they had been attacked but of course, the Nightroach in front of him had been able to defeat the attacker.

Rem looked at the dents left behind by the energy beam and let out a sigh.

"Maybe those beams were much more dangerous than I originally thought them to be," Rem said before grabbing hold of the sword, while his Shortsword as a good and durable blade, he was much more experienced in using larger swords.

He threw the sword into his Inventory and then made his way out of the Nightroach territory, leaving the cavern unclaimed. After leaving the cave, Rem leaped into the air and continued his scouting – hoping to find more territories and the skills that came along with them.
