The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 118: Dungeon’s Horror (Part 4)

The onslaught didn’t end there, the Captain made sure of it – with each swift movement he made with his arms, arcs of mass destruction soared through the air and each time they connected, a huge tentacle fell toward the ground.

Alongside the Blazing onslaught which was still raging on the Octopian, the Captain’s attacks were securing the group’s victory, they were made fluid and well-precise. At one point, the Captain even decided to speed up, sending nothing less than 5 arcs of soul energy through the air with a single swing of his blade.

The other Mages of the attacking force decided to move in, each of them moving next to their Captain and firing off their different elemental attacks at the Monster. The Octopian was only able to last a few more minutes before falling onto the ground, lifeless.

A resounding smash echoed across the room as the Octopian smashed into the ground, it’s green blood oozing and splashing everywhere. Rem stared at the Monster and saw it’s body glowing, it wasn’t dead yet and it planned on unleashing a final attack.

Instead of releasing a radial attack like Rem had expected, tentacles burst out from the ground below them, encasing around them like a gigantic and slimy orb – the size of the orb was reducing by the second as Rem realized the Monster’s plan, to squeeze them into a bloody pulp.

The Octopian had a fair amount of intelligence as it had only caught the Apprentices within it’s grasp, trying as hard as possible to squeeze them and snuff out their lives quickly but something restricted it’s movements... almost like the connection between itself and the tentacles had been severed. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

The tentacles had been cut open from the inside, several soul weapons protruding out from the inside of the tentacles and threatening to rip it open but those weren’t what caused it to lose connection, The Octopian’s four eyes landed on the Captain – shimmering in a crimson light while raising his blade into the air, the Murderous intent visible in the air.

The Beastkin took a step forward and vanished from the eyes of the Octopian only to appear behind the Monster and tuck his sword into it’s sheath silently. The air around the Monster rippled as it got slashed in half moments after the Captain had tucked his sword in.

’The Captain’s speed is unreal,’ The Tall Cavalier thought, ’He’s an exceptional A-rank and that’s why he’s leading this Raid team – Captain Yokama, wonder what his story is?’

With the Apprentices saved and everyone regrouped, The Captain sent a Cavalier and a Magus to go scout ahead for the Channelers but Rem was already sure that the slime had made quick work of them, now he focused on the soul of the Octopian which revolved in the air like a spinning orb... it was something nearing that of an A-grade after all so it’s soul presence was strong.

Rem telepathically tapped on Yes and the soul shot through the air, colliding with his chest and making him breathless.

’That’s a first,’ Rem thought while taking in a deep breath, assimilating the soul into his own which housed countless others... and if Rem was honest, he was already liking the B-grade dungeon, after all it was providing him with such a powerful soul.

Rem had gained a whole 100 points of Magic and a new skill and he felt happy, but there was no time to be happy as the group was soon on the move, ignoring the clear shakiness the Apprentices were feeling – they had been so close to death, everyone had felt it. The Tentacles hadn’t even been the full part of the Monster and if it hadn’t succumbed to the Murderous intent of the Captain in time, they might have died.

The Party soon found a convenient place to set camp and the scouts returned, with the dead bodies of their Comrades, the Channelers – they had been strangled to death. As the scouts crossed by where Rem was relaxing, he used the opportunity to absorb the souls of both Channelers and grow even stronger.

Rem sat on a flat rock, his legs were a little bit numb from the walking but apart from that, he was fine.

’I wasn’t even able to participate in a proper battle,’ Rem thought while reaching into his bag and pulling out a bottle from the countless water bottles before popping it open and drinking down the replenishing liquid, finally granting a solution to his parch throat, ’And I can’t break out of the group to try and find some kills on my own, this dungeon is a very dangerous place, I’m not sure it’s so free to roam around,’

The slime he had made was nearby and Rem was looking for an opportunity to absorb it and stop the headache that was building up due to the fact that he had split his consciousness.

Rem couldn’t even get a bit of alone time because soon he found three girls next to him, Mika, Krista and Cynthia – each of them looked at him worriedly.

"Rem, are you okay?" Krista managed to squeak out first.

"Totally," Rem replied while taking another swing of his water, ’I wonder if we’re going to encounter monsters similar to the Octopian, powerful monsters or weak monsters that set efficient traps,’

"He doesn’t seem okay though," Krista said but Mika sighed.

"He’s just lost in thought, it happens most of the time," Mika said and then turned to Cynthia, "You were our instructor for the Evaluation test so why are you not amongst the defensive or main force?"

Cynthia rubbed her hair nervously, giving a small chuckle.

"I was just acting as a substitute instructor that day," Cynthia said, "Doing as I was ordered to,"

Mika gave her an understanding gaze while Rem stared at the three beauties, unsure of what to say or do to get out of this situation. After looking around for a little while, Rem found who he was looking for – Cole. Without a word, Rem stood up and approached the Crimson-haired Apprentice.
