SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows-Chapter 250: Must Hurt
Aren looked at her, not a single attack had actually made contact. He found that shocking and fascinating.
’I’m certain it’s her ability, but then, how do I get through?’ Aren wondered, but then he didn’t allow the thoughts to linger for long. He smiled and then spoke, "If normal attacks don’t work, I’ll use attacks that will surely work." He said.
June looked at him, confused. What could he possibly be talking about, was he trying to get into her head?
Aren took one step forward, and from his feet instantly rose shadow tendrils. They moved around like they were caught in some sort of dance.
He slowly lifted his hand and pointed a finger at them, and instantly, all the tendrils fired forward at her. She looked at the attacks unbothered, she expected something better.
But as the tendrils slammed into her invisible wall, Aren bolted forward, moving like a bullet, the tendrils had all been a distraction at best, and he was the real attack.
She managed to see Aren before he got to her and then raised his hands and blocked the attack. Even then, it didn’t feel like the attack hit her, she skidded backwards again, but this time she didn’t wait for Aren to attack again, she charged forward, leaping into the air and delivering a kick so fast and precise it could cut air.
One of the tendrils that he attacked with wrapped around Aren and pulled him away fast, avoiding the attack. He landed on the platform, his smile still on his face as he looked ahead.
June came down, landing with both feet, she looked at Aren, "You haven’t shown anything at all, is your tactic to keep dodging all through?" She asked.
"Nope, not at all, I plan to actually fight you, but I wanted to see what your skills and abilities were before I engage fully." He replied.
She looked stunned by his reply, obviously not expecting it. "So what did you discover?" She asked.
"Not much." Aren said, "but that being said, I’ll fight you seriously now." He raised his hand into the air, it crackled with lightning, each one as thick as an arm, striking all around him.
Blitz blitz
June looked at the lightning, "Nothing you do can touch me." She said calmly.
"Let’s see." Aren replied. He lifted his hands into the air as the lightning got harder and faster.
’Ever since Geisha, I’ve felt out of it, I fight weaker, I act weaker, everything about me lost its spark. It’s like I’m going with the flow, being tossed around, being controlled.’ Aren’s eyes went cold, he looked at June, she was no longer someone he was sparring against, she was now someone he needed to use and regain who he is.
"Arghhhhhhhhh!" Aren roared, his foot pressed against the platform and he blasted forward, leaving a massive crater on the ground, dust rising in every direction.
"I’m not someone that has ever followed the rules or their freaking system, and I refuse to be bent into it!" He roared as he attacked, thrusting his lightning covered hand at her.
She looked at the lightning attack and was unfazed, lifting both hands in a cross to block it.
BANG!
The collision shook the entire platform, Aren and June were blasted backwards in opposite directions. He landed on the ground, and instantly summoned multiple shadow wolves that shot forward while he summoned the wolf guard at the same time.
June looked up, she saw the shadow wolves rushing at her and she managed to glance at the face of Aren, and what she saw in his eyes was not someone that was sparring, but someone that seemed to have a thing to prove.
Aren dashed at her, coming in behind the wolves, they attacked her and as he countered, blocking and attacking the wolves, she managed to take them out in time to dodge Aren’s attack, she leaned to the side as the claws of his guard went past her face.
She moved back fast and before Aren could react, she unleashed an invisible force that slammed into Aren, throwing him back and through the air. Aren flipped midair, he dropped down on both legs and looked up, she was already rushing toward him.
He got ready to block her, but she didn’t get to him, she stomped her foot into the ground and thrust her hand forward, unleashing a terrifying force that rushed like a train at Aren again, this time he acted fast and dodged to the side, evading the attack before rushing at her.
Attacking with a claw strike, she dodged the attack and then pushed forward, punching, Aren blocked the attack and then at close range unleashed shadow blades that all slammed into her, throwing her back, and while she was midair, he summoned even more shadows, they rushed at her at the same time.
Her feet touched the ground, she looked up, gritting her teeth, she made her first actual large move, she pointed her hand forward and an invisible force ripped through the air and ripped through the wolves, tearing them into shreds.
When Aren saw this, he stopped attacking. He realized something, and with the realization came an understanding.
"Your ability, it’s similar to that of Athena’s." Aren said.
June looked at him, her face twisting into that of anger, "What did you say?" She asked, her anger evident in her voice.
"Your ability, it’s similar to that of Athena." Aren said.
Her rage increased, "Don’t compare me to her, my ability will never be anything like whatever she has," June said, she turned around and started walking off.
"So that’s it, you believe that whatever they want Athena for, you could have easily filled the role right?" Aren asked.
June stopped, she didn’t turn back, but she didn’t walk.
"I’m right, it seems." Aren said, "you have chaos as well, if I’m to guess." Aren said.
June turned and faced Aren, "Stop trying to understand my issues, you are a visitor here, and that’s all, stop trying to understand what is beyond you." June said and then walked off, but before she was far away, Aren spoke again.
"Must hurt to not be good enough even when you try your best, right?"
