Chapter 465: 464. A Tantrum Throwing Little Dragon (4)

Damon almost bowed before me as we approached him and I gestured him to not, reminding him that a Duke shouldn’t just go ahead and bow before a Marquis of another kingdom.

"Welcome to Denril, Your Highness, Marquis Ocean." Damon said bowing to Davian and then looked at his wife and daughter who dipped in a graceful curtsy.

"It’s an honor to receive you, Your Highness and Marquis Ryujin." Beatrice said.

I smiled, "The pleasure is all ours, I’m grateful that you accepted my request of letting us stay here before the ball."

"It’s only natural for us to accept the request of Mr Ace’s friend." Beatrice said with a polite smile while I could feel Anastasia stealing glances at me.

A black mask with golden carvings covered the upper half of my face, so I knew she shouldn’t recognise me after the brief meeting that we had during the time that I was here.

"This is my daughter, Anastasia." Damon said and she smiled while I bowed slightly reaching out, she placed her hand in mine and I faintly brushed my lips over her knuckles before I straightened up.

"I’m honoured to be in presence of such beautiful ladies," I spoke with a smile making Davian clear his throat.

Just then Damon’s eyes drifted over to the little boy who was standing beside me.

"And, who might this young man be?" He asked.

"Oh my, is that your son, Marquis?" Beatrice asked and Anastasia looked down at Sol her eyes instantly brightened up.

"Well... he’s my nephew." I said placing my hand over his head making him look up at me as if asking what kind of nonsense I was spouting.

"Oh, my! He’s so adorable." Beatrice beamed as she looked at Sol.

"What’s your name, young man?" Damon asked.

"Go on, introduce yourself," I said patting his head gently.

Sol looked down and then in a low voice spoke, "Sol."

"Sol, that’s quite a nice name. It suits you." Beatrice beamed.

Sol didn’t retort and played along as he clutched the hem of my coat and I reached down scooping him up in my arms.

"Would he be going for the ball too?" Anastasia asked looking at him and I looked at Sol.

"Depends," I said, "Sol has a weak constitution and I couldn’t leave him alone so, I had to bring him along."

"What about your wife then?" Anastasia asked and I smiled.

"I’m not married yet, Miss Anastasia." I spoke and her cheeks flushed.

"Pardon?" She blurted.

I smiled and then looked at Damon, he ushered us in asking his head butler Mason to show us to our guest rooms.

"It would be better if Sol and I stay in the same room." I told Mason making Sol look at me with narrowed eyes.

"I understand," Mason spoke with utmost politeness before leading me to my assigned room.

Davian and I were staying side by side, I let Sol down as soon as the doors closed behind us and I stretched my arms above my head.

We could take it easy for the time being as tomorrow we would have to go to the royal palace where Davian’s entourage and the rest of his luggage was. The guests from Sestia were specially placed into the royal palace but since we had to come impromptu after the entourage had been sent we had to stay over at Damon’s place before we could make an official entry.

I kicked off my shoes and removed my coat and accessories before I lay on the soft bed feeling the mattress ripple beneath me and I sighed. Sol walked over and climbed over the bed, or well, at least tried to buy his short legs and arms made it rather hard.

I watched him struggle before I used telekinesis to lift him over and placed him on the bed beside me. He settled on the soft sheets before he looked at me.

"Y-You are strange..." He spoke and I hummed with my eyes closed.

"Why?" I asked.

"You... You are an Aqua Dragon so, how come you could use other type of magic?" He asked and I smiled.

"Because I’m an OP MC." I spoke making him tilt his head.

"What?"

I turned my head to look him him as he sat cross legged beside me and I crawled over placing my head over his lap making him stiffen up.

"You know I’m not a complete Dragon," I spoke, "My human bloodline allows me to use the two distinct type of mana forms coming from my paternal and maternal sides. My mother’s family specialises in using mana as their element and I have it too that’s why I could use variety of spells."

It was half lie though, my telekinesis was a reward after completing a quest but he didn’t need to know that.

"So, is it a spell because of which you could change your physical form?" He asked and I chuckled.

"You figured that as well."

"It’s obvious," he spoke and I sighed.

"I couldn’t go around in my real body, Sol. I have to juggle two identities to keep my people safe and also to achieve my goals."

"So, you keep lying to people." He said and I laughed.

"I’m fine with lying as long as I can protect my people and get my work done."

I felt his small hand over my head, his fingers gingerly brushed over my hair and I sighed.

"You know about Perselian Montaire, don’t you?" I asked and his hand paused.

"I-I don’t."

"Now you’re lying." I pointed out with a smile.

"I-I have only... heard about him." He admitted and I hummed.

"What have you heard about him?" I asked.

"Just what Davian told me." He said.

"I hope you don’t address him simply by his name in public." I said and felt him tug at my hair, it didn’t hurt, he didn’t even tug hard.

"I don’t want to be in public." He said and I inhaled and exhaled deeply.

"Suit yourself," I said, "It’s good for me too, to keep you away from prying eyes."

I could feel his eyes over me as the sleep slowly started crawling over to me.

"Which bastard cursed you though?" I asked, "I may not be strong now but in future when I come across them, I’ll beat the hell out of them for doing this to you."

"... Don’t talk big," he spoke in a low voice, "You’re a millennium too early to try and avenge me. Besides... you don’t even know me."

I chuckled at his words, "I may not know you, but since you’re by my side, I will protect you."

Sol fell silent and I could feel the gentle brushing sensation over my head pulling me deeper into the oblivion.

The darkness seemed to swirl around me as the plethora of voices drifted past, I didn’t know where I was as I couldn’t see but there was a sense of someone being close to me. I could faintly make out that this person was calling me, I couldn’t understand what the name was.

"You must... you must... I will wait... please..." I could hear the fragments of the words that were being spoken but I couldn’t make any sense of it.

"You must protect..."

The voice was filled with so much pain that for a moment, I thought I might cry but then I saw a glimpse of brown cascading locks before my eyes flew open.

I was still for a moment as my heart thundered in my chest and Sol who was cuddled beside me stirred a bit, I slowly sat up feeling the traces of the dream lingering over me like a ghost. I inhaled and exhaled deeply unable to understand whether someone’s prayers had reached me or was it just a premonitory dream. Speaking of premonitions, the last I had a vision was around a couple of months ago. I wondered what this dream meant.

[Goddess of Wisdom has assigned you a task.]

"What is it now?"

[Gather support for your candidate at the ball. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Reward: One spoiler.

Penalty: Losing future allies.]

[Do you accept this task?

- Yes.

- No.]

I sighed, "Accepted."

In the evening, we were in the large dining hall for dinner, I and Sol had slept all day missing the breakfast and lunch. So, it was self-explanatory as to how famished we would be.

Sol sat beside me not saying anything as he wolfed down the food while I ate rather slowly responding to the hosts.

"I was really hoping that Mr Ace and Lady Mirielle would also attend," Beatrice said.

"It’s unfortunate, but Ace had some important work and Mirielle had to stay back." I lied feeling Davian’s gaze on me as if wondering where I got my talent of lying so blatantly to someone’s face.

"How is Mr Ace’s son?" Beatrice asked.

"He’s doing well." I answered.

We talked for a while before we decided to call it a night, as we all retired to our rooms since we had to leave for the royal palace tomorrow.

I would certainly get an earful from my father and brother but I guess it would be worth to be recognised as a figure of influence and gain some allies.
