Chapter 420: 419. The Pawn To Be Used (4)

"I-Isn’t that the abominable Lord Ocean?"

"But why is he like that?"

"Did this man beat him up?"

The people whispered among themselves and I gripped the back of the head of the fake Ocean tugging at the handful of his hair before I dragged him up on the standing of the fountain and made him stand up straighter.

"Good noon, ladies and gentlemen." I spoke loudly making them all to look at me.

"I am Ace D’Arc, founder of Azurlite guild and a very good friend of Marquis Ocean Ryujin." I announced making them gasp and look at each other.

"And this is," I looked at the man whose hair I was still gripping.

He remained silent as he looked down, blood dripping from his nostrils, mouth and the cuts on his face.

"Come on, don’t be shy. Just tell them your real name." I urged and he didn’t say anything.

"Do you want me to rip your tongue out for you to confess?" I spoke icily dropping my smile and he shuddered.

"I-I’m Laude Glines... The-The illegitimate son of Marquis Glines..." He admitted making everyone gasp loudly.

"Ma-Marquis Glines’ illegitimate son!"

"Does that mean he’s not the real Ocean Ryujin?"

"He’s an imposter!"

"That’s right," I confirmed making the people start to get enraged.

"How dare you!"

"This bastard!"

"Kill him right now!"

"He ruined our beautiful town!"

"Kill him!"

The people started chanting and Pesor and the others who were with Laude shuddered looking to escape but the people were too much for them to go anywhere.

"Are you sure?" I asked the people.

"What do you mean?"

"He impersonated your friend, right?"

"He should be killed! He tormented us to not end!"

"He took away all our lands and money!"

"He also trapped our daughters and wives!"

"My husband died because of him!"

The people shouted and I looked at Laude who stood broken beside me, If not for me holding him up by his head he would have collapsed in a heap.

"I understand your pain but I’ll ask you again," I spoke loudly, "do you wish for him to die so easily for everything he did?"

The people fell silent at that and I continued, "I’d like to apologise first in stead of Marquis Ocean that because he couldn’t know of what was going on here the problem of this town escalated so much. Sending me here was the prompt action that he took to only investigate the tax problem but when I arrived I got to know that there was an imposter here who was using my friend’s name to support those who want to drag Marquis Ocean’s name through the dirt."

The enraged people glared at Laude and his accomplices.

"Since I’m here to handle this issue on the word of Marquis, I’d rather give them the punishment which would make them feel like death is a sweet release."

"That’s right!"

"Death is too kind!"

"Chop their limbs and throw them on the streets!"

"Gauge their eyes out and cut their tongues!"

The people started hurling the torture methods some grabbing the rocks from the ground ready to hit them making Laude to shudder.

"Now, now," I spoke, "that will also be too kind. If it’s all right with you? I’d like to issue the punishment that would make them not only pay for what they did to you all but also crush their pride so badly that they wouldn’t dare to look down on anyone after this."

The people looked at each other.

"Pay us back?"

"How?"

"They ruined our berry farms!"

That was true, the berry farms were their primary source of livelihood and from what I saw the farms were affected by something which had ridden them of their fertility. My Purification spell could help healing those lands.

I smiled, "Those can be healed with Ocean’s power."

"What?!"

"Ma-Marquis Ocean can return the fertility of the lands?" Earl Thames gasped as he stepped ahead.

"Yes, though he had told me to only come here and investigate I ended up going ahead and doing all this so, I’ll just ask him to visit this town to heal the lands so that you all can go back to your business." I said.

"He-He could do that!"

"Marquis Ocean is a Godsend!"

I smiled and then looked at Laude and his accomplices.

"As for these guys’ punishment then, they will be nothing but manual laborers, stripped off of everything that they have, including their titles and even the clothes on their bodies and they will work in the fields all day and will be given only as much food and water so that they could remain alive." I announced before looking at the people.

"Arrange some people to look after them, chain them up so that they wouldn’t escape and provide them with medical treatment so that they wouldn’t die." I spoke making Laude’s eyes to go wide.

"Wa-Wait-"

"Be quiet, I can also get rid of your tongue so that you wouldn’t be able to express your pain. I don’t care about your background because what you did here takes away any form of mercy that you could have gotten from me or Ocean." I said as I shoved him down and walked over to Pesor.

He tried to crawl back but I stepped over his ankle rooting him to a place as I glared down at him.

"You’re pretty lucky that I’m here, if it were anyone else who served Ocean then they would have skinned you alive the instant you put your hands on that woman while proudly tarnishing their beloved Master’s name." I said gesturing at the woman who stood among the crowd with a little girl on her hip.

Pesor shuddered and then looked at Laude, "I-I was not at fault, he-he ordered me to do it all!" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

Pesor pointed at Laude shouting, "He-He’s the real culprit! Please spare me! I-I’ll do anything that you tell me, so, please!"

I looked down at him while the people around shouted curses at him and I lifted my foot from his ankle before bringing it down with enough force to shatter his ankle completely.

Pesor’s scream pierced the air so loudly that it rang in my ears, the people around me winced and some covered their ears.

"I don’t need to listen to your nonsense, Pesor. Don’t make me angrier than I am already." I spoke icily as he writhed on the ground and I walked over to the Earl.

I pulled the scarf that covered the lower half of my face down and smiled at him.

"Marquis will be here soon, so, till that time, please look after this place, Earl Thames."

The tears glistened into his eyes and I could also see his servants already teary as they finally were out of their nightmarish torture.

After that, I returned to Ryujin estate and the next day, I teleported to Eirn town with my Ocean’s form on.

The townspeople greeted me more kindly and the Earl seemed taken aback as I appeared so quickly.

"I apologise for being so late," I spoke with my head down as I stood in front of everyone in the town’s square.

The people seemed hesitant as they looked at me and I stepped closer to them.

"Now, if it’s not a hassle then, can you please lead me to the farms?" I spoke making their eyes glow with hope.

"M-Marquis, won’t you rest for a while and have something?" Earl offered and I looked back at him.

"I already wasted too much time, Earl Thames. I’d like to carry out my duty earnestly first before I could rest." I spoke.

The whole town walked with me as they led me through the farms explaining as how the lands suddenly started turning barren and how they couldn’t grow anything there, not even weeds would grow.

I crouched down in the middle of a farm while the people stood at the fringes watching me, it would be winter soon, so, I guess I arrived here on a good time. The seasons of winter and spring were the perfect times for berry plantations so, being here in the mid-October gave the people the proper time to do their work.

I closed my eyes and placed my hand flat against the land feeling the toxicity mixed with the soil. Laude and his accomplices must have used the harmful pesticides to kill the land.

I inhaled and exhaled once before I casted the Supreme Healing and Purification spell on the large expanse of the land. My mana flooded out of me rushing past the earth covering the whole ground until it glowed bright blue.

It stayed like that for a couple of seconds before I stood up feeling the land being freed from toxicity.

"Wha... The land glowed..."

"It was like a God’s blessing!"

I walked to the next farm followed by the people who tagged along smiling more and for the whole day, I repeated the same task of casting the Supreme Healing and Purification spell on the lands that were damaged by the toxicity before I was done.

"You can start farming from hence on, the lands are in a perfect shape to grow anything now and since the winter is upon us, I’ll make sure to deliver everything that you might need through Oasis." I spoke looking at the people who now had tears in their eyes.

"G-Godsend!"

"No, God Himself!"

"W-We apologise for cursing you while not knowing your real identity, Marquis!"

"Please forgive us all!"

Everyone got on their knees including Earl and I smiled touching the shoulders of the ones closest to me.

"Now, now, please don’t apologise for showing courage. You cursed me because you thought I was the one exploiting you, that was your way of resisting the bad things and I’m proud of you all for showing the fire that wouldn’t be extinguished. I am happy to see that the people of my town are so brave that they could stand up for themselves." I spoke.

Some of them started crying at that while some clung to my sleeves thanking me and apologising.

After the whole thing was done, Earl Thames insisted that I rest in Eirn for the night and since I had poured a lot of mana in a single day, I was feeling extremely famished and sleepy. But then again, the town wasn’t in the state to provide enough food for me so, I guess I would have to visit somewhere else to feed myself.

After dinner, I retired to the room prepared for me and I said good night to the nice maids before I closed the door and walked straight to the window to leap out in the chilly night.

I flew all the way to my desired location and landed on the terrace of the place without the guards of the place even noticing me.

I walked inside passing by the corridors with my invisibility spell on and passed by several maids and servants before I reached in front of the doors from which I heard the angry voice.

"What do you mean that brat got caught?!"

"I-It’s true, My Lord. Young Master Laude was caught." Another voice spoke in a low town.

"Don’t call that bastard, Young Master. He isn’t worthy of being called my son. And did you say Ace D’Arc, the owner of Azurlite was there on Ocean’s word? That little slimy brat... Trying to own our lands..." I heard the snarl and I peeked in to look at a blonde man dressed in a furry robe.

"Kill him," he spoke and the man in front of him flinched.

"Pardon?"

"Get rid of Laude before Ocean Ryujin uses him against us."

I smirked, removing my invisibility spell and slammed the doors open making the two inside to jump.

"Quite a parent, aren’t you? Killing your own son." I spoke and the second man moved to attack me.

My Dragon’s Presence slammed them both on the ground as I stood there with my arms crossed at my chest. Marquis Glines and his informer.

"Ma-Marquis Ocean Ryujin..." Glines grunted with his face on the ground and I smirked devilishly.

"In flesh."
