Chapter 419: 418. The Pawn To Be Used (3)

I was asked to wait in the reception room and a maid arrived with a tray of tea and refreshments. She placed them down and with trembling hands she started brewing tea for me.

Her face was paler than ash and I could see some bruises on her arms peeking from the sleeves of her uniform. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Just then the doors opened and the maid stiffened making the tea spill, I turned my head and looked at the men who entered.

The one in the front was dressed up in lavish clothes and gold accessories, he had deep blue hair and brown eyes which held the look of contempt. He had a black and gold mask that covered his face but I could only feel disgust as I looked upon him. The other two were Pesor and an old man who looked greatly uncomfortable.

"You must be Ace D’Arc," he spoke sounding too haughty and I stood up.

"Yes, and you are?" I asked and the man snorted.

"Who else? I’m the man who you came to see." He announced.

Pesor stepped ahead and gestured at the other man, "This is Marquis Ocean Ryujin the great."

I tilted my head slightly as I observed him and his eyes went down to the maid who stayed in her place, trembling.

"What the hell are you lingering there for? Give some tea to our guest and get out!" The fake Ocean barked and the maid flinched dropping the tea cup making it fall on the carpet, spilling the tea all over.

"How despicable!" He sneered and stopped ahead and gripped her hair making her scream.

"You can’t even do a small task so well, just why do you take wages for, huh? You-"

"Marquis," I spoke placing my hand gently on his.

"I understand you’re disciplining your subordinate but I am a little busy, shall we have our talk first?" I spoke with a smile and he looked at me.

I could see the condescending look in his eyes before he let go of the maid and shouted at her to run.

She gratefully escaped and the fake Ocean came up and plopped down on the couch in front of me with Pesor behind me and the other man followed.

"Hey, you," the fake Ocean spoke looking at the old man.

"Clean up this mess, it’s an eyesore."

The old man put his head down and started cleaning up the spilled tea. I watched as he carefully did it, he seemed like a noble.

"This is Earl Harry Thames, he was looking after this place but since he couldn’t control his estate well, I had to come down here all the way from Oasis!" The fake Ocean announced and I saw the Earl’s jaw clench as his head was down.

"Is that so? That must be quite a hassle." I spoke keeping up the facade and he grinned.

"Of course, I provide for these dregs and they can’t even do their work properly." He spoke and I felt my blood sizzling under my skin.

"I heard Eirn town was famous for its berry farms, but while passing by, I couldn’t see any. Why is that?" I asked.

"Ah, that’s because of him," he pointed at the Earl, "He couldn’t handle it well so the farms dried up."

My eyes turned frosty and I couldn’t help but start to see red, "Dried up, you say..."

"Yes, even the wretched people here-"

It happened in a flash as my Dragon’s Presence surged out like a hungry beasr and took over the room making the pressure slam everything except for the Earl to the ground.

Pesor fell to the ground while the fake Ocean doubled over with his hands on the table before him and face inches from slamming into it.

"Wha... What’s happening?" Earl Thames gasped as he watched them.

I didn’t answer him as I sat there glaring at the fake Ocean before me.

"Wh-What do you think you’re doing?" He sneered and I rose from my seat and gripped the back of his head tugging sharply at his hair before pulling him up to face me.

"You’re Ocean Ryujin, aren’t you?" I asked icily.

"O-Of course!" He spoke and my glare intensified.

"Then this much pressure is nothing for you,"

"What do you... think you’re doing?" He spoke breathlessly, still clinging to the fake identity.

"Marquis Ocean Ryujin always carries the crest of Oasis on him, show it to me." I smiled and he grimaced.

"Why would I-"

I gripped his face including the mask, feeling it crack because of the pressure of my grip and it shattered, some of its shards stabbed into his face making him shout.

"Oh, my your face is intact. Ocean Ryujin has injury on his face which is why he wears a mask. Did your injury heal? Or..."

I heard a gasp behind me and turned my head to look at the Earl who seemed to have realised.

"Trash like you are tarnishing a name that you aren’t even worthy of speaking. You’re quite presumptous, aren’t you?" I spoke looking down at the fake guy.

"Wha-What are you talking about? I’m the real Oce-"

I slammed his face into the table hearing the crack of his nose and teeth before I plucked his head again for him to face me.

"I just said, didn’t I? Low lives like you, have no right to utter that name." I spoke icily.

"Wa-Wait, does that mean that... this isn’t the real..." The Earl gasped behind me.

"That’s right," I confirmed.

I watched as Pesor crawled over to the door and opened it shouting, "Help! A man is assaulting our Lord!"

The knights came barging inside on the call and I watched them as they rushed towards me. I used telekinesis to collect them in a group and slammed them against the wall with the force that cracked their armors.

Pesor watched in horror as most of the knights couldn’t move after that and he tried to run but I grabbed him using telekinesis and brought him close to me.

"Wait! No! Let go of me! I-I’m the Baron-" he shouted but I swung my hand slamming my fist into his face hearing the cracks as his teeth caved in and his nose burst.

I dropped the two on the ground and stood straighter before turning to Earl Thames.

"Lord Thames, do you know where this man keeps his ledger?" I asked and the said man flinched.

"Don’t worry, the real Ocean Ryujin sent me to investigate what was going on here but watching a sorry excuse of an imposter I was angry, can you please get that ledger for me. I’ll make sure they pay for what they did to this place." I spoke in a rather gentler tone making the old man’s eyes glisten before he rushed away.

I felt the mana accumulating by the fake Ocean and there was a sudden gust which had no effect on me. He lifted his head sneering at me with his bloodied and bruised face.

"You-"

"A wind mage," I spoke as I walked over to him and slammed my boot into the back of his head.

"Ocean Ryujin is the rare and only mage in the kingdom to use water as his element then how could he use a wind? If you’re going to impersonate someone then at least know what they are like." I spoke as I slammed mh foot into the back of his head.

I made sure to hold back my strength to a great extent as only my toe was enough to crush his skull.

Pesor and the other knights who were barely conscious and seeing this paled.

"Now, tell me who ordered you to do this fake impersonation and I might not kill you." I demanded looking down at the fake Ocean.

He coughed with his face still in the carpet.

"Ma-Marquis... Glines..." He spoke through struggled breaths.

Marquis Glines was one of the primary branches of Esmertia who held the dominance in this area.

"Hm? All right," I spoke and heard the doors opening again as Earl along with the household personnel rushed into the reception room only to see the carnage.

Some of them gasped as they watched me while Earl Thames came up to me and handed me the ledger. I inspected the contents and smirked as I saw where the smuggled money was going.

I placed the ledger into my coat’s pocket and looked at the Earl.

"I have another thing to ask of you, Earl," I said and he gulped.

"We have to head over to the town so, can you arrange for that?"

"Pa-Pardon? The town?" He asked and I smiled.

"Yes, the townsfolks should know of this too, don’t you think? So that they wouldn’t be fooled again. Release those whom they have wrongfully contained and bring them along." I said and then glanced at Pesor and the fake Ocean, "Also, please prepare a horse for me, I’d like to hold a parade."

"Yes, I understand." He said and then turned to look at his servants.

"Prepare the carts and horses," he spoke and the servants rushed to work.

After half an hour, we were marching towards the town, I was mounted on the horse with the two ropes in my hand along with the reins. I heard the grunts and groans behind me as I rode ahead, Pesor and the fake Ocean were trudging behind being dragged by the ropes tied to their wrists while I held the other end.

We reached the town in a few minutes and those who saw us gasped in shock as they saw the supposed strong figures being dragged like that.

I stopped in the center of the market place near the fountain where no water flowed and got down tugging at the ropes making the two men to stumble forth and fall on their faces.

The carts behind stopped and the people who were arrested earlier climbed down along with Earl and his household people. Everyone watched with shocked expressions while some glared at the two who were now on the ground.

It was time to begin the show.
