Chapter 418: 417. The Pawn To Be Used (2)

"We’ll announce that the Young Miss of Aurelia is already engaged." I announced and heard the sound of something crashing outside.

The strong Aura struck me right in that instant and I whipped around my Dragon’s Presence reacting in an instant surfing out like an invisible force shielding my father, brother and Roan.

"What was that?" Dad gasped while Rune got into his offense stance.

I raised my hand to stop them before I walked up to the door and opened it to see Remi and Asher out there with Davian who stood stiffly.

There were some plates with some snacks crashed on the floor with Remi on his knees struggling to breath while Asher was doubled over gripping the wall to keep himself from falling.

"Prince Davian, what are you doing?" I demanded in a cold voice and the said man blinked as if snapping out of some trance.

"You’re letting your power loose on my turf, do you want to challenge me or something?" I spoke letting the full force of my Dragon’s Presence fill the air while protecting Remi, Asher and my family from the Aura.

The two powers clashed sending the surge wave around and the vases that were kept around as the showpieces cracked.

I reached my hand out to Remi who heaved and pulled him up to his feet while Asher also staggered to my side.

"Are you two all right?" I asked them.

"Yes, Master." Remi spoke gathering himself.

"Yes, that just came so suddenly." Asher spoke.

The Aura slowly receded to Davian as he clutched his chest with his face going pale.

"I... I’m sorry." He spoke and I removed my Dragon’s Presence before setting him with an icy glare.

"Just what were you doing?" I demanded and he inhaled and exhaled deeply once before he looked at my father and brother who stood at my sides.

"I-I apologise for that, I... Well..." He fumbled before he bowed.

"I did something too rude to the Master of this place, his subordinates and also to Duke Aurelius and Prince Rune. Please forgive me." He spoke with utmost politeness.

I sighed crossing my arms at my chest, it wasn’t a normal thing for the Aura to surge with such intensity that would make the people around be affected so badly. There must have been some sort of a trigger.

"Fine," I spoke and he straightened up keeping his head down while I looked at Remi who was collecting the shards of the broken porcelain.

"Remi, stop it you’re going to hurt yourself. Besides, where were you taking that?" I asked as I used telekinesis to gather the broken shards and fallen food into the tray.

"We-Well, you were too busy in the morning preparing for the meeting and you missed your breakfast. I thought you must be hungry and since the meeting finished so, I was bringing some snacks for you but..." Remi spoke with his head down and I smiled touched by his thoughtfulness.

"Mrs Enora isn’t here so, she entrusted me the responsibility of taking care of your meals and other things, Master." He spoke and I placed my hand over his head brushing his hair.

I turned my gaze to Davian after that, "What were you doing here anyways?"

"I saw some nobles leaving so I was coming to ask you about this meeting." He admitted.

"That meeting was between me and my vassals, Prince Davian. I believe I haven’t given you the right to interfere in my business." I scolded him and he kept his head down.

"I understand, please forgive me." He spoke like a sad puppy, I could almost imagine the drooping pup ears.

"Anyways," I then turned to Father and Rune.

"Would you like to have lunch with us before leaving?" I asked them.

"No, we will meet Kai and if possible, I’d like to take him with me for a couple of days." My father said.

"I’m sorry, but Kai can’t leave the estate." I said rubbing the back of my neck.

"Why?" Rune asked.

"Because he’s punished, you can meet him before leaving or stay back for the day." I offered.

"No, it’s fine. We’ll meet him and then leave." My father announced. He was still upset.

"All right, Asher, bring them to Kai." I spoke and he nodded.

"You can have lunch with him in his room," I said and they agreed.

My father and Rune lingered for a moment and I sighed, "I understand, I’ll think of some other way."

They moved on after that but I could feel Rune’s eyes glancing at Davian once before he turned away.

Well, if was obvious that Davian was disliked by my family.

"Remi, why don’t you set lunch for myself and Prince Davian? I’m famished." I said and Remi nodded.

"Yes, Master!" He quickly took off taking the tray and now it was only me and Davian now.

There was a long moment of silence before I sighed.

"So, are you going to tell me what irked you so much that you let loose your aura like that?" I asked.

Davian didn’t open his mouth and kept his eyes down.

"Fine, don’t tell me. It’s not like it matters but I’ll warn you, Prince Davian. Even if you are an important guest, it will still be bad for you if you try to harm my people directly or indirectly." I warned him before I brushed past him noticing as he looked so down.

After that day, I had to leave for Slavenreach to check on the town whose reports were messed up.

I was disguised as Ace to not grab much attention and noticed as how the small town of Eirn was drowned in poverty. The fields weren’t touched, the houses were crumbling and the town seemed like it was enveloped in a plague.

I pulled the scarf up to cover the lower half of my face as I walked deeper into the town until I reached the market area. The prices of the stuff being sold was too high and the people here didn’t even seem like they could afford one fourth of amount.

Most were begging and those who were at the stalls just seemed like the fattened pigs with too much money.

I saw a woman begging one of those stall owners.

"Please, I beg of you, please give me some milk, my-my baby is starving! Please, just for my baby!" She cried as she clung to his trousers and he kicked her off.

"Get off me, hag! So what if your brat is hungry? You haven’t paid your taxes, our Marquis Ocean is very strict about the tax payments." He spoke making me cock my brow as I stood there watching it all.

The man leaned down and gripped the woman’s jaw, I could see what he was thinking.

"But, if you could offer something else in return he might let go of your this month’s tax and even give you some pennies." He spoke and the enraged woman spat right in his face.

The man got furious and shouted for the woman to be dragged away, two of the knights stepped up and gripped her.

"No! Let go of me!" She shouted.

"Curse you, Ocean Ryujin! Curse you for taking away our lives! Curse you!" She shouted with such hatred that I felt the slight ache in my chest.

"Oi, what’s this?"

[Defender of Divine Glory explains that just as the prayers even the curses directed at you will reach you.]

"This is bad." I sighed as I stepped in.

"Pardon me!" I spoke up making them all look at me.

"What the- who are you?" The man demanded.

I looked once at the woman who was being dragged away before I said, "My name is Ace D’Arc. I’m the owner of Azurlite guild."

The man frowned a bit before I pulled out the crest of Azurlite and his eyes widened as he inspected the crest.

"Wh-Whoa... Th-This is real! So-So you’re the real founder of the wealthiest Azurlite guild." He stuttered with his eyes gleaming.

He was too easy to read. I put on a smile though he couldn’t see my face.

"Yes, I had heard a lot about the rumored Marquis Ocean Ryujin and while travelling I got to know that he also controlled the Slavenreach area. I’d been wanting to meet him to make a partnership but, I never got a chance." I spoke and the man grinned.

"What a splendid idea!" He spoke before he took my hand, "Please come with me, I’ll take you to Marquis Ocean, he’ll be delighted to meet you."

It was pretty easy.

The man introduced himself as Pesor and I kept my fake smile as he led me to his expensive looking carriage which looked out of place on the streets. I could feel the glared over my back from all directions as I walked with him.

We got on a carriage and I zoned out as the man kept chattering about the fake Ocean Ryujin and also about how the Esmertia family was wary of him and gave him gifts just to stay on his good side.

He kept speaking for the whole way till we reached in front of a large manor which suited to belong to the Lord of the place.

"Please come this way, Mr Ace. I’ll have My Lord know about your arrival!" Pesor said excitedly as he led me inside and I couldn’t help but feel like I will have some fun here.
