The Destiny Villainess Wants Me To Work!-Chapter 91: Song Jinyu Meets Leng Shuang!
Dozens of people were crowded together in the warehouse.
Many children, women, and a few exhausted men.
Their condition was heartbreaking.
Many of the children looked weak from hunger, their small bodies covered in dirt. Several women were trying to comfort them, though they themselves looked barely able to stand.
Some of the victims were crying out of joy and relief.
Song Jinyu clenched her fists.
Her anger toward the criminals rose sharply.
As she listened carefully, she realised many of the hostages were murmuring the same thing.
They were thanking someone and praying for that person’s safety.
She walked over to a boy who looked about twelve years old. Compared to the others, he seemed slightly healthier.
She knelt down so her gaze was level with his.
"Who are you thanking, kid?" she asked gently.
The boy looked up at her, tears still streaming down his face.
"Sister Police... it was the angel!"
"She saved us!"
Song Jinyu blinked in surprise.
’The angel?’
So it was the mysterious woman who rescued them.
"Where is she now?" Song Jinyu asked quickly.
"The angel," the boy said, pointing out, "she went to beat up the bad guys and save the others."
Song Jinyu’s pupils shrank.
"Oh no..."
’Did she go after the gang leader alone?’
If the leader had a firearm, the situation could turn dangerous very quickly.
She immediately stood up.
"Kid," she said urgently, "do you know where those bad guys are?"
The boy nodded.
"I remember the place."
"When they brought us here earlier, their leader came to look at us."
His small face tightened slightly.
"He was very scary."
"Can you show us where that happened?" Song Jinyu asked.
The boy pointed towards a nearby warehouse.
Song Jinyu didn’t waste another second.
She immediately led several armed officers in that direction.
When they arrived, the scene unfolding in front of them made them stop.
A woman dressed in a tactical combat suit was fighting against more than a dozen gang members.
Her movements were fast and precise.
One man rushed toward her, only to be thrown to the ground with a clean shoulder throw.
Another tried to attack from behind, but she spun around and knocked him unconscious with a swift kick.
Within seconds, several criminals were already lying on the ground.
Just as the police were preparing to intervene, the woman delivered a final spinning kick.
The last standing gang member collapsed instantly.
Silence fell over the scene.
The woman exhaled slowly and turned around.
The moment she saw the armed police officers, her body tensed slightly.
Her guard rose instinctively.
However, when she noticed their uniforms, the tension in her expression eased a little.
Even so, she remained in a cautious fighting stance.
"Are you the police?" she asked.
Song Jinyu stepped forward.
"I’m Captain Song Jinyu," she said calmly while showing her police identification.
"We’re from the Jiangnan Police Station."
A look of relief appeared on the woman’s face.
Her shoulders relaxed slightly.
Then she turned toward a nearby stack of crates and called out loudly.
"Little Mei!"
"You can come out now!"
"I’ve already beaten all the bad guys."
A small head slowly peeked out from behind a large container nearby.
The little girl’s wide eyes were fixed on the group of armed police officers. For a moment, she simply stared, clearly looking unsure whether it was safe to come out.
Then she spotted Leng Shuang.
Her face brightened slightly.
She hurried over with small, quick steps and clutched the side of Leng Shuang’s tactical jacket.
"Don’t worry," Leng Shuang said gently.
Her expression softened as she rubbed the girl’s head lightly.
"They’re good people."
With that reassurance, she lifted Li Mei into her arms. The girl wrapped her arms around Leng Shuang’s neck, still watching the police officers cautiously.
Only then did Leng Shuang turn back toward the officers standing nearby.
"Hello, Officer Song," she said politely.
"I’m Leng Shuang. You can just call me Leng."
Song Jinyu studied her quietly for a moment.
Up close, she could clearly see traces of the recent fight—dust on the tactical suit, slightly uneven breathing, and faint bruising on the knuckles.
But despite all that, the woman looked calm.
Too calm, in fact, for someone who had just taken down an entire criminal group.
"Miss Leng," Song Jinyu said, her tone polite but professional, "would you mind answering a few questions?"
Leng Shuang smiled easily.
"Of course."
"I don’t mind."
---
A few minutes later, Song Jinyu had already gathered most of the details.
According to Leng Shuang’s explanation, the situation had unfolded almost accidentally.
She had followed a kidnapper who had taken Li Mei. That trail had eventually led her to the warehouse compound.
What she discovered there, however, was far worse than a simple kidnapping.
The entire area was being used as a trafficking hub.
Leng Shuang claimed that once she realised there were so many captives inside the warehouses, she couldn’t simply leave.
So she acted.
Song Jinyu glanced at the unconscious criminals scattered across the yard.
Miss Leng’s fighting ability had indeed surprised her.
Taking down so many gang members alone was no ordinary feat.
But when Leng Shuang casually mentioned that she had received special training from the Yang Consortium, Song Jinyu immediately understood the implication.
Her grandfather had once told her something about the Yang family.
According to him, the Yang family maintained ties with a mysterious ancient martial family. People from that background often possessed extraordinary combat skills.
That explanation fit the situation perfectly.
While Song Jinyu gave instructions for the officers to begin securing and arresting the unconscious criminals, she continued speaking with Leng Shuang.
"So you came here alone?" she asked.
Leng Shuang nodded and glanced down at Li Mei.
"My boss was planning to adopt this little girl," she explained.
"But she was kidnapped."
She gently adjusted Li Mei in her arms before continuing.
"I followed the kidnapper to find her. I didn’t expect it would lead me here."
