Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1886: The Foolish Nobles
-----
Despite arriving prepared with her two maids and her butler, Julia could scarcely believe how swiftly everything had spiraled into even greater chaos.
Not only had the Vampires appeared and slain the Emperor—something she had never anticipated, having begged Maria to spare the royal family and let the people decide their fate—but Thor, the God of the Heavenly Realm, had descended into the body of a general and razed the entire palace in a blind rage.
Thunder consumed everything. For a terrifying moment, Julia genuinely believed she would die right there. Yet Maria enveloped everyone within her Void Aura, absorbing the lightning into her own body and shielding all those her power could reach in time.
Even so, many deep within the palace perished when the structure exploded into ash. The blast rippled outward, claiming hundreds more lives among the noble families clustered nearest the crown.
In horror, Julia watched Thor clash with Sirius. While the battle raged, Maria swiftly drew her into the Shadow Realm along with everyone she could save, then turned to confront Annette.
Only then did Julia think of her butler. She found him safe with her elven maids; all of them had barely escaped the nightmare.
The seven orc warrior women Maria had rescued appeared as well, bewildered by the sudden upheaval.
At that moment, a Dream Ghost of Maria materialized, calmly explaining to everyone in the Shadow Realm what had transpired.
"I’m sorry for everything," Maria said. "I came here hoping to resolve things more peacefully than the Vampires or the Gods would allow, but it seems that was foolish to even imagine..."
"Y-You filthy monster!"
"What have you done to us?!"
"Where are we?!"
"You’re Maria, that resentful evil ghost demon!"
"So you’ve come for revenge! It’s all for revenge, isn’t it?!"
"Monster! Die! Die, monster!"
"The Gods won’t let you get away with this! They will come to our rescue!"
"The heroes will tear you apart limb from limb!!!"
Naturally, the nobles she had barely rescued turned their fury on her, branding her a despicable monster who had ruined their lives. They hurled every ounce of their confusion, rage, and resentment at her. Maria merely offered a bitter smile in response.
"Even after I saved your lives, I’m still just a monster in your eyes... Hah... Why am I even bothering to save humanity?"
Noticing the sorrow in Maria’s gaze, Julia stepped forward. She defended her fiercely, reprimanding the nobles with words rather than force.
"How dare you speak to her like that?! Maria is the one who saved your lives!"
"That bastard Thor came here and destroyed the entire imperial palace without caring about any of you!"
"To the Gods we are nothing but pawns to discard the moment we’re no longer useful!"
"Don’t you see?! You’ve been living in a lie! This is all a fabrication by the Gods!"
The nobles pushed back, desperate to deny her words, but Julia persisted relentlessly. Her voice and conviction echoed deeper into their minds with every sentence.
This was more than mere personality. It was a power Julia had awakened within her Dream Heart.
A Dream Spirit had manifested in her throat, a small sphere of golden light.
The sphere amplified her words.
It did not brainwash or harm minds. It simply cleared negative emotions from those consumed by madness or resentment.
A simple yet profound ability, born from Julia’s lifelong dream: to one day speak to everyone in this world, explain why their world was broken, and why it had to change.
Her Dream Spirit was called "Golden Voice of Reason."
Slowly, the darkness clouding their minds lifted. The nobles began to grasp their true situation.
And they despaired.
They realized the gods held no regard for their lives—that at any moment, one could descend and slaughter them all without hesitation.
"Are we nothing to them?"
"I thought... the Empire of Light was special to Lord Odin?"
"How could the Great Thor do this..."
"He’s our Hero...! How...?"
"No... So everything is a lie..."
Even the nobles Maria despised broke down, weeping in agony as they confronted how small and insignificant their existences truly were in the grand scheme.
Strangely, Maria felt a sharper satisfaction watching them despair like this than she ever had from torture or killing.
"Your Gods are nothing but barbarians who ascended from the Tower," Maria explained. "They slaughtered the original gods—the Primordial Titans, Dragons, and Spirits—and claimed Yggdrasil for themselves. We humans were never native to this world. We are descendants of immigrants from the Tower."
"...?!"
The nobles gasped. The truth felt impossible, yet it aligned perfectly with everything Julia had just revealed.
"My family and I are fighting not only the Gods but the Vampires too, while trying to protect as many people as possible," Maria continued. "The entire Empire of Light will collapse if we do nothing. I will send my troops to teleport the population into my shadows so you can remain safe from the war outside."
"Maria! Let me help too!" Julia insisted.
"Me too!"
"I shall lend you my strength, Lady Maria."
"I would not mind assisting, milady."
Julia, her two maids, and her butler all pressed to contribute. Maria hesitated to risk their lives further, but they had trained diligently inside her Soul Realm. They were no longer weak.
"Fine," Maria sighed, nodding. "Here."
She handed them black bracelets that granted control over fragments of her Shadows, linking directly to the Shadow Realm.
"Use these bracelets to wield my Shadows," Maria instructed. "You can protect yourselves, attack, bind and curse enemies, and bring people inside."
At the same time, behind her Dream Ghost, over a hundred more figures emerged—friends, disciples she had recruited, and many intelligent undead.
All of them wore Shadow Bracelets as Maria opened a portal to the outside world.
"Go toward the Empire of Light and rescue every person you find—no matter their age, gender, or social status!" Maria commanded. "Even if they are nobles, they have the right to live... and later face judgment for their crimes."
"Understood!"
