Chapter 92: Twisting Facts!

"I didn’t expect it would lead me here."

Then she gave an embarrassed smile.

"When I realised how many people were being held captive... I couldn’t just leave."

Song Jinyu listened quietly.

Her expression softened slightly.

"Miss Leng," she said, sincerely, "what you did today saved many lives."

"You’re a hero."

"But next time, please call the police first."

"Running into a criminal base alone is extremely dangerous."

Leng Shuang’s smile became a little stiff when she heard the word hero.

"...I’ll keep that in mind," she said.

Song Jinyu nodded in satisfaction.

Then her gaze shifted toward the little girl in Leng Shuang’s arms.

"You said your boss plans to adopt this child?"

"Yes."

"Who is your boss?" Song Jinyu asked casually. "Yang Zhen? Or Miss Yang Qingxi?"

"Neither."

Leng Shuang shook her head.

"My boss is Master Su." She paused briefly. "His name is Su Mo."

Song Jinyu blinked.

"...Huh?"

Her brow slowly furrowed.

"Didn’t you say earlier that you received special training from the Yang family?"

"Then who exactly is this person surnamed Su?"

Leng Shuang froze for half a second.

’That... wasn’t in the script.’

Her mind raced quickly.

Fortunately, improvisation was something she was quite good at.

She leaned slightly closer to Song Jinyu and lowered her voice.

"Well...this is actually confidential information."

She glanced around briefly before continuing.

"I’ll tell you, but I hope you won’t share it with others, Officer Song."

Song Jinyu’s expression immediately became serious.

"You can trust me," she said firmly.

Leng Shuang nodded. Then she spoke quietly.

"Actually... Master Su is the prospective son-in-law chosen by the Yang family for Miss Yang."

Song Jinyu’s eyes widened slightly.

Then her expression shifted into one of sudden understanding.

’That explains it.’

If Su Mo was the Yang family’s chosen future son-in-law, it made perfect sense that someone powerful like Leng Shuang would be assigned to assist him.

"Who exactly is Mr Su?" Song Jinyu asked with curiosity. "Is he from another powerful family? I don’t recall any powerful Su family in Jiangnan."

Leng Shuang showed a faint look of admiration.

"Master Su is... a man with many secrets."

"For now, he is the new owner of Ankang Biotech."

"Ankang Biotech?" Song Jinyu repeated.

Her brows furrowed immediately. That name was not unfamiliar to her.

"Miss Leng," she said carefully, "Did Mr Su have any connection with the previous owner of that company?"

Leng Shuang tilted her head.

"The previous owner?"

"Not at all."

"Master Su purchased the shares through an intermediary."

"Is there a problem?"

If Wang Cai had been present to hear those words, he might have died a second time out of sheer frustration.

Song Jinyu nodded slowly.

"The previous owner, Wang Cai, has been under investigation by our department."

"He was suspected of involvement in several illegal activities. Currently, he is missing."

"Even the company’s CEO, Wen Hang, was part of our investigation."

"CEO Wen Hang?" Leng Shuang repeated. Then she chuckled lightly. "Not anymore."

Song Jinyu raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"Master Su removed him from the company," Leng Shuang said casually. "From now on, I am the new CEO of Ankang Biotech."

Song Jinyu froze. "...You?"

Her eyes widened in surprise.

Leng Shuang nodded. "Yes."

For a moment, Song Jinyu simply stared at her.

Then, slowly, a relieved smile appeared on her face.

"That’s good news."

She folded her arms thoughtfully.

"If someone like you is in charge of that company...then I can feel reassured about its future."

From their conversation, Song Jinyu had already formed a clear impression of Leng Shuang.

Very strong, loyal to her master, and most of all, righteous.

A person like that would never allow illegal activities to flourish under her leadership.

At least, that was the conclusion Song Jinyu reached with complete confidence.

She had always trusted her instincts when judging people.

Unfortunately, if Leng Shuang’s past victims could hear that assessment right now, they would probably beg Captain Song to get her eyesight checked immediately.

Because if Leng Shuang can be righteous, then the word itself might need a new definition.

---

After finishing the conversation, Song Jinyu glanced once more at the scene around the warehouse yard. Officers were moving efficiently, securing the unconscious criminals and escorting the rescued victims to safety. Medical teams had also begun arriving, carefully tending to the weaker children and women.

Turning back to Leng Shuang, Song Jinyu gave her a respectful nod.

"Miss Leng, if you’ll excuse me," she said. "I still need to speak with the rescued victims and confirm some details for the report."

Leng Shuang nodded politely. "Of course."

Before leaving, Song Jinyu paused for a moment, her expression sincere.

"And... thank you again," she added. "What you did tonight saved a lot of lives."

With that, she turned and walked back toward the warehouse where the rescued captives were gathered.

Leng Shuang watched her go briefly before adjusting Li Mei in her arms and heading toward the police perimeter.

The moment she stepped beyond the warehouse entrance, a swarm of reporters immediately surrounded her.

Cameras lifted and microphones stretched forward.

Questions came flying at her like bullets.

"Miss! Miss! Can you tell us what’s happening inside the warehouses?"

"Is it true there were trafficked victims here?"

"Were you kidnapped, too?"

"Miss, please answer!"

Flashes burst repeatedly as cameras tried to capture every angle of her face.

Leng Shuang instinctively shielded Li Mei, turning slightly, so the child remained protected against her shoulder.

Her expression remained calm.

"First of all," she said firmly, "I was not kidnapped."

"Second, you can ask Officer Song for details about the situation."

Then she looked down briefly at the girl in her arms.

"Third... could you please make some space? The child is getting scared."

As if on cue, Officer Tang Hu and several other police officers arrived quickly.

"Make way, make way!"

Tang Hu stepped forward and pushed the reporters back gently but firmly.

"Everyone, step aside. Give them space."

With the officers creating a path, Leng Shuang was finally able to leave the chaotic crowd behind and walk toward the parking area.
