The Broken Halo-Chapter 88: Chaos Blade
’I don’t want to think about the words of that Sword Daemon, but I’m still pissed about him saying that I should carry the weight of the fate of the realm.’
’I might not know what the realm is exactly, but it’s definitely the demon realm or something related to demons.’
’Me becoming the Hero of Earth was not something I had a say in. I was given that title and duty, and though, it had its positives, it was a very heavy title to carry.’
’If I had the opportunity to become a Hero, I would refuse to become one. And now, you want me to become something else?’
’I refuse. I am going to do what I want and not what you guys want. And I am definitely, absolutely, not going to become the hero or saviour of the demons or daemons, or whatever it’s called.’
Simon’s eyes burned with a flame of determination and anger as he recalled everything the demons had done to him on Earth. Everything they had taken away from him.
’You just handed the fate of the realm in the worst possible hands.’
Simon exhaled deeply, then he looked at the Chaos Blade which was lying right in front of him.
There was no change to the Chaos Blade, but Simon could feel a deep sense of connection to it which was not there before.
He stretched out his hand, and the Chaos Blade floated gently into his right hand.
Chaos flames ignited in a spiral around the dark blade, then it dissipated.
"Hmm. Still no change... But it does feel sharper and more deadly."
"I thought I’ll receive a stream of knowledge on what the Chaos Blade can do, but it seems I’ll have to figure it out myself or meet an appraiser or a blacksmith."
Although Simon said this lightly, he knew that for him to be able to find a blacksmith or an appraiser that could figure out the abilities of the Chaos Blade would not be easy.
The Chaos Blade was definitely not a normal blade, and its abilities would also not be normal in the slightest. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Let’s see."
He sent his demonic energy which was now dark silver into the blade, and his eyes widened in surprise.
"It’s accepting my demonic energy without wasting a single bit of it unlike other artifacts. Even the sword I had back then was not this efficient. This reduces how much demonic energy I need to use with the blade by another 50%."
Simon was more shocked by this because the Miser’s Ring already reduced how much demonic energy he released from his body by half, and now the Chaos Blade also reduced the demonic energy he used with it by another half.
"Would I ever run out of demonic energy with these two artifacts?"
Simon mumbled in a daze, then he waved his hand and sent the Chaos Blade flying in the air.
He controlled the Chaos Blade with his mind, and he used it to perform certain sword moves he knew of.
He smiled as he watched the Chaos Blade dance.
"Reduces cost of demonic energy, can use Chaos Flames, and it can also be controlled with the mind. Very useful blade."
Simon stretched out his hand, and the Chaos Blade flew gently into his palm.
"And the cost of controlling it with my mind is very little."
The Chaos Blade used mental energy which was different from soul energy and demonic energy, and because Simon’s mind has all the decades of experience of his past life, his mental energy was robust.
"I guess... I got a lot of good things in this place. My luck might not be so bad after all."
After taking one last look at the Chaos Blade, he controlled the Chaos Wraps with his mind, then he used the wraps to wrap itself around the Chaos Blade, becoming its sheath.
Simon then made the Chaos Wraps to form a belt around his waist, and he attached the wrapped Chaos Blade to the belt.
"Now, I look like a swordsman." A light smile appeared on Simon’s lips, then he looked at the last three items left.
He pondered on what to choose for a few seconds before he picked up the crimson book instead of the Sword Daemon’s mask or the ominous looking black book.
He cautiously opened the book, and his eyes shone brightly when he saw the contents of the book.
After six minutes, he closed the book with a smile.
"The Sword Daemon’s Sword Art. I don’t like the guy, but I can’t deny that he is more talented than me when it comes to the sword."
Just like Simon said, the book contained the Sword Daemon’s Sword Art, and he was very pleased with what he saw.
He had only skimmed through it, but what he saw was enough to make him realize just how terrifying Hell’s Sword Daemon must have been.
"If there was somebody like him back in my time, Earth would have been conquered in the blink of an eye, and I would have died to him so quickly."
"Could he be from the era of the Devourers?"
Simon only had this question in his mind for a few seconds before he pushed it to the back of his mind.
He would get his answers with time.
’I was previously worried about a demon or a human who is familiar with my sword techniques recognizing my sword techniques whenever I used them, but I can use this instead.’
’Though... Those words I couldn’t hear from the Sword Daemon which definitely refers to some powerful beings might recognize it, and if they do, then it might spell out a whole lot of problems for me.’
Simon frowned slightly as he had this thought, then he shrugged.
’Then I’ll just find a way to change it... Maybe combine my sword techniques with his sword art, and transform it into something new.’
’I might be able to hide his sword art with that for some time.’
