Chapter 89: 89: Chaos Plane & Sword Daemon’s Mask

Simon returned the book on the Sword Daemon’s Sword Art back to the spatial ring, then he looked at the ominous black book and the Sword Daemon’s mask.

By all means, the black book which emitted an ominous aura was meant to make Simon to feel more wary about it compared to the Sword Daemon’s mask.

However, he was actually more worried about the mask of the Sword Daemon than the black book.

The reason why the black book was ominous was because it radiated the aura of the chaos plane and something else mixed into it.

However, the Sword Daemon’s mask was an artifact of the Sword Daemon, and he would not be surprised if a fragment was still alive in the mask.

It wouldn’t be the first he had encountered artifacts of supposed dead gods which still contained a fragment of their soul.

Simon was worried about the possibility of the Sword Daemon trying to take over his mind if a portion of him was still in his mask.

"Well, I’ll find out soon enough."

Simon grabbed the book, and opened it to the first page.

He then continued opening the pages, and after a minute, he stopped and closed the book with a myriad of thoughts and emotions in his eyes.

"Was I truly a frog at the bottom of the well in my past life? I was a Demi-God, but what realm was the Sword Daemon? And how powerful were the Daemons?"

Simon had not read everything in the book, but what he saw was enough to leave him stunned.

The book contained knowledge on the Chaos Plane, what it was, the history of the Chaos Plane, how important the Chaos Plane is to Daemons and even to the current demons, and how to use the Chaos Wraps to enter the Chaos Plane.

He looked at the book with the gears in his mind spinning at a rapid pace.

"But this knowledge is for when I’m about to become an Archfiend... And if what I read is true, then the Archfiends of the current demons are severely weakened."

A chill suddenly travelled up his spine as he had a thought.

"If I had not come here, I would have used the normal methods demons used in advancing to higher realms, but I would most likely find it extremely difficult or I would not be able to advance beyond the Demon King realm, and Demon Kings are only comparable to Demi-Gods."

Simon’s expression became more grave.

"I have wondered in the past why there were no demons comparable to the gods, and when I asked a certain annoying god, she told me that the demons comparable to them are no more. But for some reason which she could not tell me, they couldn’t wipe away all the demons with their power."

"She said they had to give humans the power to fight demons themselves, but what if all of that was just a lie? What if the reason why there have no demons comparable to the gods is because the gods made it so?"

"The gap between Demi-Gods and gods is extremely vast. A Demon King of the current demons cannot beat the gods or beings that might be higher than the gods."

"And this is all because their path has been severely weakened. They most likely don’t have this knowledge about the chaos plane... or maybe they do, and it’s more complicated than that."

Sigh

Simon sighed and ruffled his hair with an exhausted expression.

"Oh well... this knowledge of the chaos plane is in my hands. And unfortunately for the demons, I don’t plan on spreading this information just so that I can make the demon realm better and expose the truth.

Simon returned the black book back to the spatial ring. He’d take his time reading it in the future.

He looked at the mask of Hell’s Sword Daemon.

He exhaled deeply, then he grabbed the mask while getting ready for any sudden movement or attack.

To his relief and fortunately for him, there was none.

He then observed the mask closely.

The mask was matte black, and it had a jagged crimson marks running down from the eyes to the chin.

"A simple mask. Not too flashy... I like it."

"I wonder if it has any abilities."

Simon thought about it for a moment, then he placed it on his face with a wary expression.

He was ready to react if anything happened, but to his slight surprise and immense relief, nothing happened.

But three seconds later, knowledge began to pour into his head from the mask, and Simon flinched, thinking it was an attack.

But it was not.

"I see... What an extremely useful mask."

The Sword Daemon’s had just three abilities.

The first was that it could prevent people from seeing his true face. If anybody tried to use a unique ocular technique or any other method to see his true face, all they see would be a blurry face or nothing at all.

Simon had no idea what the limit of this ability was, but he was certain that it had to be very high since he believed that the Sword Daemon was an extremely powerful demon in the past.

The second ability is that the mask could change his face into any other face he sees. It could not transform his body, only his face, but it also prevented people from being able to know what he actually looked like.

And the last ability is that he could make his enemies to feel fear and experience hallucinations once he emits killing intent, and the stronger his killing intent, the more fear and hallucinations he causes to his enemies.

This last ability was extremely suitable to Simon considering how powerful his killing intent was compared to other demons his age and in his rank.

He removed the mask from his face, and he was satisfied.

"This... is a very useful mask."

Simon sent the mask back to the spatial ring, then he looked around with a satisfied feeling.

"Trusting my guts when it comes to finding treasures is the right thing to do."
