Superhero Class: Finding Meaning of Life in another world-Chapter 30: Dancing on the tunes
Chapter 30: Dancing on the tunes
"Chirp!! Chirp!"
"Chirp! Chirp!"
The soul-calming cries of the heart-toothed bird echoed in the distance. The children, still asleep, stirred awake at the bird's call.
In one secluded corner of the Skylar estate, gentle sunrays peeked through the half-opened windows of the room, lightly caressing the figure of the boy who was lying on the bed with his eyes closed.
Some distance away from the youth sat a beautiful girl in her early twenties with her eyes tightly closed; she seemed to be meditating.
From time to time, particles of mana would gather around her before slowly merging with her body.
The girl was none other than Fiona.
In the past year, her appearance had barely changed, except for her hair which seemed to have grown slightly longer, almost touching the floor.
The atmosphere in the room was surreal and calming.
Fiona opened her eyes and let out a tired sigh.
"With a Common grade Meditation technique, I am making almost no progress. If only I could get my hands on a higher grade Meditation technique."
Thinking up to this point, Fiona felt even more depressed; To someone like her, high-rank meditation techniques weren't just rare—they were unattainable, locked away in the hands of the privileged."
Someone like her who was just a mere servant had no hope of getting her hands on such a precious thing.
"There are two ways in which a warrior could grow stronger: one is to venture into the Eternal battlefield and fight monsters, but this was highly dangerous and contained unlimited risk."
Fiona muttered in her heart while thinking about her situation, "I can't take unnecessary risks in the Eternal battlefield, so I can only rely on the second option, which is to use a meditation technique to absorb the ambient mana present in the atmosphere."
"Alas, the efficiency of these Common grade techniques is too low; only 0.1% of the absorbed mana is fully utilized and the rest disperses back to the atmosphere."
Fiona sighed once more; the life of a commoner was difficult if they didn't want to take risks.
"Take risks..." While muttering, Fiona's eyes landed on the boy lying on the bed, and her eyes turned slightly complicated.
Suddenly she looked up at the sky and said with a look of resentment in her eyes, "Why is the difference between the lives of people so much?"
"He was born into a world of safety and privilege, while I clawed for every scrap of progress. But it wasn't his fault—just cruel fate playing favorites."
"And I have to suffer just because... why?"
Fiona poured her heart out; she knew although there wasn't anyone listening to her complaints, at least she was able to vent.
After controlling her emotions, Fiona got up and left the room; it was time for her to prepare the bath for the young master.
At this time, nestled beneath the white bedsheet, Dawn's eyes abruptly opened, revealing blue pupils which seemed to be filled with annoyance.
He had woken up early but pretended to keep his eyes closed as he wanted to hear Fiona's muttering.
Dawn waited until the soft creak of the door faded into silence before exhaling slowly. He had heard everything. And to some extent, what she said was true, how high one's future achievement could be most of the time depended on their background rather than the abilities they possessed.
But so that young people can still have hope in their hearts, they are ruthlessly fed the narrative that you can achieve all of your goals as long as you work hard.
"It's not like one can't achieve their dreams just because their background is poor, but the chances are pitifully low," Dawn concluded.
So what if hundreds of people out of billions are able to fulfill their dreams through their own hard work?
Luck. A strange, cruel thing. It could turn beggars into kings and geniuses into nobodies. He had been lucky—twice. And he wasn't about to waste it.
If in his previous life his parents were just daily wage earners, if he was born in a poor family he might not even have been able to live for a few years.
Although he hated his parents because they abandoned him just because he was disabled, at least they paid the hospital bills on time.
Just as Dawn was about to get lost in his previous life memories, the door of his room opened and Fiona, carrying a large wooden tub filled with water to the brim, walked inside.
"Young master, you are finally awake!"
As soon as Fiona saw Dawn standing up, she called out loudly. There was not a single trace of complaints visible on her face.
Dawn also pretended as if he had just woken up and yawned.
"Yeah, I just woke up, but I want to sleep more," Dawn complained in a childish voice.
Hearing him complain, Fiona smiled as she was already used to her young master's nature; she used the trick to immediately make him an obedient little baby.
As such, her face turned slightly solemn, and she directly looked deep into Dawn's big blue eyes and said in low voice.
The sourc𝗲 of this content is frёeωebɳovel.com.
"Young master, those kids who complain all the time, the hideous monster from the North mountains comes to play with them in their dreams."
"So don't cry at night when he comes to meet you."
After hearing her words, Dawn had the urge to roll his eyes, but he still played along and a fearful expression appeared on his face.
Showing early signs of intelligence had already gotten him into trouble; he didn't want to exacerbate the situation any further.
So after hearing her words, his eyes widened in fear, and he immediately tried to hide behind the bed and cried out.
"Fiona! Big sister, please don't tell the monster..."
Looking at her intelligent young master acting like a naive young kid, her stomach churned, holding the urge to laugh out loud.
But still she felt strange whenever her young master acted like this, his expression were just too perfect.
Throwing this thought in the back of her mind she coughed and said, "Come here young master, no need to worry anymore."
Dawn still didn't believe her and asked in a suspicious voice, "I am not believing you; this is what you said last time."
Hearing his words, Fiona was stunned. Indeed, she had said those words last time.
But she wasn't stifled as she had more tricks hidden up her sleeve.
After all, no matter how intelligent young master was, in the end, he was just a one-year-old kid; could he match the intelligence of someone like her who had fought in the Eternal battlefield numerous times?
"Hmmmph! Young master you are still too young."
