Chapter 41: Stealing Another Kiss -2

Rivana quickly got out of Azrael’s lap, blushing harder than ever before. She wanted to run away, but the only way out was through the door, which Callum was blocking right now.

Callum cleared his throat, equally embarrassed just like Rivana. "The problem can wait, you guys can continue," he babbled and turned around to leave.

"What is it?" Azrael grumbled, making him stop in his tracks. Sighing out loud, he got up from the chair and walked over to the walk-in closet to get a shirt.

"There’s a woman at the door wanting to see Rivana," Callum murmured, scratching his brow. "She looks like a crazy bitch."

Rivana frowned at his words, while Azrael’s brows creased in alert. Quickly putting on a loose tee, he walked out of the room, and Rivana followed him in confusion.

As they walked downstairs, Rivana noticed the bodyguards blocking someone at the entrance.

"Please understand, miss. We cannot let anyone in without an invitation." They didn’t move, having been ordered to strictly forbid anyone from entering inside considering the attacks on Rivana.

"But I am her best friend, you morons!" Rivana heard a familiar voice, grumbling and cursing as she walked down the stairs.

"See, I told you. She is crazy and shouts a lot," Callum grumbled, having just gotten into an argument with the woman. She had called him a lapdog and asked to get Rivana, her voice still making his skin prickle with irritation.

Rivana’s eyes widened in realization. "That’s my friend! Leave her!" she ordered, rushing toward the entrance.

The guards turned around and looked at Azrael, who nodded in approval. They quickly gave way, and Leonora stepped forward, glaring at the bulky men.

"Anna!" With a pout, she rushed to Rivana and hugged her tightly. Breaking the hug, she scanned her body and asked, "Are you alright? I heard someone attacked you just after we left that day."

"I am fine," Rivana replied with a smile. Rivana sighed in relief and hugged her again. "Ah, I am so glad." Breaking the hug, she questioned, "Which bastard was it? Tell me! Who tried to burn you in the car?" Gritting her teeth, she fumed out loud, "I am gonna skin them alive!"

"She indeed seems like her best friend," Callum wondered aloud, looking at the two women. Leonora had shouted at him, frustrated that he was suspecting her out of all people even when she confirmed her identity. She had made a scene earlier that their alert bar only raised.

Ezekiel, who had just woken up, came out in his pink pajamas. "What’s happening here?" he asked, looking at his puppies and then at the women at the entrance.

Rivana turned around at his voice and, holding onto Leonora’s hand, she smiled at her friend, "Come. I will introduce them."

"Oh, we have a beautiful guest," Ezekiel beamed with a smile, making Leonora break into a grin. She scoffed at Callum behind Ezekiel before smiling at the older man again.

"This is my friend, Leonora Ronvy," Rivana introduced her supermodel friend. Azrael curtly nodded while Callum gave a disapproving glance. Ezekiel was the first one to step forward and greet her.

Taking out his hand, he welcomed her, "Nice to meet you, Leonora."

When Leonora turned to Rivana, wondering who it was, Rivana said, "This is Mr. Ezekiel Dynar."

"I know. He is your father-in-law." Leonora blurted out, having done a thorough research on the Dynar family. She shook hands with Ezekiel. "Nice to meet you, sir."

Ezekiel broke into a smile, already liking Leonora. She reminded him of someone from his past, her appearance strikingly similar, but he pushed away those thoughts.

Rivana the turned to Azrael, and introduced him, "And this is Azrael Dynar," With a tiny blush, she added, "my husband."

Leonora grinned and nodded, already having done thorough research about this man on her plane. When she turned to Callum, Rivana said, "And this is—"

"His lapdog," Leonora cut her friend off, making Callum glare at her. Smiling at him, she further infuriated him, "He already greeted me. Very. Nicely."

"I am not his lapdog!" Callum grumbled out loud, which everyone in the room ignored, making him angrier.

"Please take a seat, young lady," Ezekiel said, gesturing to the couch. He then turned to George, who nodded and rushed to prepare some drinks for all of them.

Callum and Azrael settled beside Ezekiel while Rivana and Leonora sat on the couch across from them.

"Your name is similar to my daughter’s," Ezekiel started the conversation. "You also seem to be the same age as her and Rivana." As Leonora broke into a smile, he further asked, "How long have you been friends?"

"Oh, it’s almost five years now. I was cyberbullied in my first year of college, and Anna helped me catch those assholes." Clinging to Rivana’s arm, Leonora added with a smile, "We’ve been best friends since then."

Rivana nodded with a smile as Ezekiel looked at her. She was called a prodigy student in her department, and Leonora was the bad girl in the fashion department. People commented badly on her posts, and she had reached out for help and had become best friends with Rivana.

Leonora turned to Rivana and murmured, "I was so worried I would miss your marriage party too. But luckily the show was over, and I took the earliest flight back."

Not just Rivana, even the three men were surprised by her words. Placing down his teacup, Ezekiel asked the young woman, "Marriage party?"

Leonora blinked at him and replied, "Yes. Since they never got to hold one, only signed certificates, I thought you would be arranging at least a post-wedding party." Turning to Rivana, she murmured, "No?"

Ezekiel’s eyes sparkled at her words. Yes, a party seemed like the perfect trap. Whoever attacked Rivana would try again, and they could catch them easily. He turned to Azrael, who was already briefed this morning about last night’s tragedy. His nephew’s eyes glinted slightly, and Ezekiel beamed with a smile, liking the idea.

"Yes! We will be holding a party!" Ezekiel declared, brimming with excitement. Turning to George, he ordered, "It will be this Sunday. Prepare the invitations."

Rivana’s eyes widened in surprise. That was just two days away. She turned to her husband, hoping he would decline, but his smile left her speechless.

"I will leave you two then. We have so many arrangements to make," Ezekiel said and stood up, ready to set the trap.

"Thank you, Mr. Dynar," Leonora smiled, and just before she could leave, she made a request, "If you don’t mind, can my designer prepare an outfit for the couple? I always wanted to gift a wedding gown for Rivana, but..." she trailed off, recalling their fight and sighed.

"Sure!" Ezekiel replied, and Leonora thanked him again with a smile. With that, the three men left, and Rivana took Leonora to her room.

———

Later, Rivana finished taking a shower and getting ready. Once she was done, Leonora took her to the couch in the room to have a very serious discussion.

"Now, tell me everything, Anna," Leonora started, her mind a puzzle. "I have read the articles and all the rumors, but I want to hear it from you. What exactly happened, and how did you end up marrying him?"

Rivana let out a small sigh. "He somehow got to know that Viktor was cheating with Rubina and crashed my marriage. He claimed that we were already married and then brought me here." She told just the Azrael part of the story, knowing her friend would never believe that she had returned from the future. "Since his target was also Viktor and the Hugon family, we agreed to be in this marriage. He will take over the Hugons and help me bring down Viktor."

Leonora broke into a smile at her words. As long as Rivana was happy with her decision, she would always support it. Crunching on the snack bar, she murmured, "Oh, that’s amazing! I was worried he was a deranged playboy who would toss you away once he got bored, like in those articles."

When Leonora had read those articles suggesting how Rivana, in her anger to avenge Viktor for cheating on her, had ended up with a guy worse than him, the fact that he was a mafia ruler scared her even more. But it seemed like a different case.

Realizing something even more serious, Leonora turned to Rivana and asked, "Anna... you are using protection, right?"

Rivana, who was drinking water, spat it out, coughing out loud at her friend’s blunt question. She looked at her friend who, for once, didn’t seem like she was joking.

"I know you will be attracted to each other and can’t help it, but you should be cautious." Holding onto Rivana’s hands, Leonora continued, "If this marriage was out of love, then it would have been a different case. But it’s not. At least not yet. Imagine if you end up getting pregnant and he doesn’t want to keep the child? And what if—"

"Alright, hold on!" Rivana stopped her, placing the glass down. Scratching her nose, she hesitantly added, "We haven’t done anything yet."

"What? Why?" Leonora questioned in surprise. Something more hit her, and she asked, "Does he have any disease?"

"No, no," Rivana tried to calm her friend. As Leonora stared at her in confusion, she tried to come up with a suitable answer. "He... He is willing to wait until I am ready," she slowly murmured.

Leonora broke into a cheeky smile. Nudging her friend, she teased, "Ohh~ Your husband is such a gentleman. Recalling how Azrael hadn’t even cared to look at her earlier, she added confidently, "Of course, only to you."

Rivana smiled sheepishly at Leonora’s comment. Indeed, Azrael was nice only to her.

And think of the devil, he appeared at the door, knocking to get their attention. Rivana’s cheeks warmed, wondering if he had heard all their conversation.

As Azrael stepped into the room, Leonora got up and smiled, "I’ll go look for Mr. Dynar and help him with the arrangements," leaving the couple alone.

Rivana looked at him, her eyes locking with his. The memory of their almost-kiss from before flooded back, making her cheeks flush even deeper. "Do you need something?" she asked, her voice a little shaky.

With a smile, Azrael walked toward her and closed the distance between them. Rivana’s mind screamed to take a step back, but the devil inside her shut it down. Her heart thudded as he stopped right in front of her, his eyes never leaving hers.

Azrael wrapped his hand around her waist, pulling her closer, and making her breath hitch. He leaned closer, his breath grazing her ear, sending sparks down her spine. With a smirk, he replied, "I am here to finish what was interrupted earlier, baby girl."
