Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 38: Worried Wife
Rivana panicked and stormed out of the room. She looked left and right, but unfortunately, all the maids seemed to have returned to their quarters already. She rushed downstairs and found Ezekiel sitting on the couch.
"Mr. Dynar!" Ezekiel, who was watching the CCTV footage from the Skateland, quickly turned off the tablet and looked up. A frown creased his brow seeing Rivana rush downstairs, her face pale and looking as if she was about to cry again.
"What happened, dear?" Ezekiel asked, standing up and taking off his reading glasses.
Rivana reached him, and in between her heavy breaths, she murmured, "He... he is missing." When Ezekiel frowned in confusion, Rivana added, "I... I went to his room earlier, and he was not there."
Her voice trembled with anxiety and panic. She felt a tight knot in her stomach as worry clawed at her heart.
"We should search for him immediately," Rivana murmured, biting her nails. Looking up at him, she pressed, "What if he is in danger again?"
Ezekiel realized she was talking about Azrael, his stubborn nephew, and sighed, feeling bad for her. The earlier incident at the rink must have scared her a lot, sensing how she was worried sick about her husband.
"Maybe we should report to the cops first!" Rivana murmured, looking for her phone and turning around to get it from her room.
Ezekiel stopped her, and when she turned back, he held her shoulders and assured her, "He is fine, sweetie." When she looked up at him in confusion, he added, "He went to take care of something."
Rivana blinked at his words, feeling a sigh of relief, but she couldn’t stop worrying about him. "But he hasn’t recovered yet. It’s cold outside. And what if his wounds open again?"
She asked a series of questions, making Ezekiel smile in response. It was good to see someone care about Azrael, though that brat didn’t care about his life at all.
"Sit down. I will ask him to return immediately," he told Rivana. As she nodded and sat down, he quickly dialed Azrael’s number. But, just like every time, he cut the call, making Ezekiel scowl. He then dialed Callum, who immediately picked up after just two rings.
"Come home right now!" Ezekiel demanded, and when there was some grumbling beside, he added, "It’s about his wife. Ask that brat to return quickly." With that, he ended the call.
They had gone to take care of both Gale, the one who had burnt Rivana’s car, and the bastard who had tried to shoot her earlier. They both seemed to be connected and even though he had ordered Azrael not to leave, he had ignored him and went to their basement.
Turning to Rivana, he smiled, "They will be back soon. Don’t worry."
Rivana nodded, but her heart couldn’t stop beating loudly. She fidgeted with her fingers, impatiently waiting to see him, to make sure he was really safe. Anxiety and worry gnawed at her as she waited.
After about an hour, Azrael rushed in, carrying a worried expression. His dark eyes softened as they fell on Rivana sitting on the couch.
Rivana got up as he walked toward her. Meanwhile, Callum looked at Ezekiel sitting across, who shrugged in response.
Reaching Rivana in a few large strides, Azrael worriedly scanned her and asked, "What happened? Are you alright?"
Rivana didn’t know why, but she burst into tears. Maybe it was because of the relief to see him or because he was treating her normally, just like every time.
Hitting his chest with her tiny fists, she grumbled, "You bastard! Why did you leave the house at this hour?"
"Eh?" Callum frowned at her question, even more worried that she had just cursed the devil. Oh, he would be pissed! But his jaw almost dropped to the ground as Azrael didn’t react and let her hit him.
Glaring at him, Rivana continued, "And why the heck are you wearing only a plain shirt? Did the bullet travel to your head and shut it down?"
Azrael scratched his brow. He just picked up whatever reached his hand in the wardrobe. Unsure how to react, he was torn between being happy that she cared about him or angry that she had just called him both an idiot and a bastard.
"Yes!" Ezekiel joined in with Rivana. Glaring at Azrael, he added with a scowl, "Scold him more! I told him to at least wear a jacket, but he ignored me."
Azrael side-glanced at his uncle, questioning if it was necessary to jump in and add more fuel to their fight.
"I should be scolding you both as well!" Rivana said, her words surprising all three. Wiping away her tears, she added, "You should have made sure he didn’t get out of his bed! He hasn’t recovered yet."
Ezekiel and Callum stared at each other, feeling that the ball was in their court now. Why was she taking it out on them too? Meanwhile, Azrael smiled, making his uncle scowl deeper.
"Well, he doesn’t listen to us!" Ezekiel grumbled with a pout.
"Yes," Callum agreed, equally offended. "Moreover, it is your responsibility! You are his wife, and you should be the one taking care of him!" he babbled, his words harsh but true.
Azrael’s expression darkened, ready to swallow up Callum, but Rivana agreed. Yes, he had taken a bullet for her, and she should have been with him.
Grabbing his hand, Rivana glared at him and dragged him upstairs. Callum scowled while Ezekiel smiled as they walked away. The way Rivana had reacted filled him with a sense of warmth, relieved that she had feelings for Azrael too, though they were simply brought together by a contract.
"Come. Let’s hunt those pigs," Ezekiel murmured, getting up from his couch. "George, get my coat," he ordered, wrapping his hand around his favorite disciple’s shoulder.
Callum’s expression changed to one of dread. He cried internally. He had just come back, and Ezekiel wanted him to drive to the basement again. Oh, he hated his life!

Rivana took Azrael back to his room. Leading him to the bed, she eyed him to lie down and went to close the balcony door.
"Keep the windows closed at night," she grumbled as she walked back to him. Noticing the water jar was empty, she decided to fill it up.
"I will get some water," she said, picking up the jar and turning around to leave.
But before she could take a step, Azrael grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto the bed. Rivana gasped, falling beside him. Heat raced throughout her body as Azrael moved closer. Taking the jar from her hand, he placed it on the table and tucked her properly inside the blanket.
Rivana blushed, lowering her eyes. "I-I will sleep on the couch," she murmured.
But in response, Azrael pulled her even closer, his hand wrapped firmly around her waist. Her heart fluttered as he whispered, "Good night."
Rivana didn’t bother to grumble and replied, "Good night." But she couldn’t fall asleep, and opening her eyes, she found him still staring at her.
She decided to ask about the morning’s incident. "Was it because of Sussie?"
Azrael’s eyes subtly widened, surprised that she had guessed it herself. Yes, but it was only a half-truth. His reaction towards her was because his memories were a mess. He had forgotten about the rebirth and still saw her as Viktor’s wife, whom he had loathed her for her stupid decisions.
Rivana took his silence as a yes. The thought had crossed her mind once, considering how much Azrael loved his mother, but the doctors had failed to save her even after a week of struggle. Hesitantly, she moved closer, resting her head on his chest. She wrapped her arm around him, patting his back gently, causing Azrael to feel something stir in his chest.
"Let’s be extra careful so that we don’t have to visit a hospital again," Rivana murmured with a sigh.
Azrael hummed in response. Hugging her tightly, he closed his eyes too. In each other’s embrace, Rivana slowly fell asleep, her mind relaxing in his presence.
As Azrael felt her light snores, he opened his eyes. Her presence and her earlier words filled him with a sense of comfort, as if he was back home after running through an endless tunnel.
Moving closer, he kissed her forehead and murmured, "I will protect you with my life, Rain."
Rivana snuggled closer and murmured in her sleep, "Me too." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Azrael smiled in response. Pulling her closer, he closed his eyes.
As they both slowly fell asleep, finding peace in each other’s embrace, a stopwatch appeared out of nowhere on the nightstand beside the bed. A faint mist swirled beneath the glass. Slowly, the haze began to shift, condensing into bold, inky letters: [1 year 362 days]
It was similar to Rivana’s but with Azrael’s name and his fate carved inside it.
