Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 39: Something Precious To Him
[Back in Dynar’s Basement]
Ezekiel and Callum entered the mansion, surprising everyone in the room. The men quickly descended on one knee, placing their fists on their chests to greet their leader.
"Ah, I told you it’s old-fashioned. You should stop doing it," Ezekiel grumbled, taking off his black cowboy hat. His father had started this tradition, and he hated it now that they were in the modern era. His frustration was evident as he frowned and shook his head.
Dawn got up and dismissed all his subordinates back to their work.
"Where are those bastards?" Ezekiel questioned, and Dawn led them to the torture cells.
They passed through a narrow corridor, and Dawn stopped in front of a library wall. He pushed a few books aside and scanned his face on the screen behind it. The library slid open, splitting into two doors.
The entire mansion was designed so that, even if someone visited, they would have no clue about the kind of hell hidden in the shadows of the building. They walked down the corridor to a single room at the end. Dawn opened the door, and Ezekiel stepped in, followed by Callum.
Their men paused whatever they were doing as the leaders entered. The two men who were lashing the attackers stopped, bowing to their leader.
"Which asshole spewed nonesence about me?" Ezekiel questioned, and Callum pointed at Gale, who had burn marks all over his body.
Ezekiel sneered at Gale, who looked half-dead, thanks to the torture Azrael had ordered his team to inflict. Ezekiel took off his coat and passed it to Dawn. Stretching his fingers, he walked closer and punched Gale in the face.
Gale coughed out blood. "Do you think it’s that easy to bring a fight between me and my nephew?" Ezekiel questioned, punching him again. "And don’t your recruiters know it’s not that easy to separate us?" He punched again, causing a few of Gale’s teeth to fall out.
Gale was too weak and had no energy to speak, but he still snickered, making everyone even more angry. His reaction frustrated Ezekiel even more.
"Yeah. Then why hasn’t he accepted to be the heir?" Gale murmured, his bloody eyes fixing on Ezekiel. "Isn’t he planning to get out of your damn mafia business?"
Everyone in the room was shocked by his words. It was a rumor that shouldn’t have ever left their territory walls, something that would weaken Dynar’s power in the underworld. But how did this guy know about it?
"Killing his dear wife would have made him hate you even more," Gale murmured, his low voice echoing through the room. "And it might even make him destroy your empire with his own hands."
Ezekiel gritted his teeth, his blood boiling now that their true intentions came out. So, they were after him and wanted to bring the Dynar empire down. What frustrated him was that Azrael, who was untouchable and feared by even their enemies, now had a weakness, and it was Rivana. They would use her to get to him, and she would be constantly pushed into danger, just like his wife.
"Scared, aren’t you?" Gale questioned, his mocking laugh filling the entire room.
"This piece of shit." Ezekiel groaned and raised his fist to punch again, but Callum stopped him.
"He will die," Callum murmured, taking out a cloth and passing it to wipe the blood.
Ezekiel sighed, turning to the other guy who hung beside Gale. His wrists and legs were bandaged, and he looked half-dead too.
"Make them spit out who their boss is by sunrise," Ezekiel ordered Dawn, who nodded in response. Wiping his fingers clean, he threw the cloth on Gale’s face before turning to leave.
Before they could step out, suddenly both of them started coughing out loud. Ezekiel and Callum stopped and turned around to see the men coughing violently.
Their men swiftly assessed the situation, their eyes widening in surprise as they realized it must be poison.
"Goodbye, Dynar," Gale snickered, before coughing more loudly. He slowly blacked out, followed by his subordinate beside him.
"Quick! Get the doctor!" Callum ordered, and one of the men rushed out while others quickly untied the two culprits.
They laid them on the cold floor, trying to check their pulse. Their expressions paled, and they looked at Ezekiel, shaking their heads.
Ezekiel walked over and squatted down beside the bodies. No, they couldn’t die just yet, not without leaving a clue behind about their boss.
The doctor came in and observed the bodies. He checked their pulse and the blood covering their mouths. "They must have consumed poison," he murmured, quickly asking his team to get the samples tested.
Ezekiel rubbed his neck, frustration boiling within. Getting up, he ordered, "Get me the CCTV footage. Find out what went wrong."
Callum nodded. He took out his phone to call Azrael, but Ezekiel stopped him. "Don’t inform him." When Callum looked at him with a frown, the old man added, "He finally can relax because of her. Don’t ruin it."
Callum huffed out loud and walked out, tied by his master’s order.
Later, the CCTV footage arrived, and Callum showed it to Ezekiel, who was sitting on the couch.
"When they were brought to the torture room, Desmond shared a pill with Gale while our men were busy preparing to torture them," Callum briefed out, passing over the video of the CCTV footage.
Ezekiel wore his glasses and watched the video. Once Desmond and Gale were brought inside the torture room, Desmond handed something to Gale sneakily, and both gulped it down before their men tied them to their respective poles. It was a few hours ago and the poison seemed to have damaged all their organs, leading to their deaths earlier.
The doctor came forward and briefed his findings as well. "They had indeed consumed poison," he handed over the reports from the lab.
"So, Desmond attacked Rivana so he could be brought here?" Dawn wondered aloud, piecing everything together.
Ezekiel sighed out loud and nodded, passing back the tablets. Now all the clues fit together. "It was an intentional attack. They wanted him to come here and kill Gale before we could find out who they were," he explained in detail, clearing everything.
Callum cursed under his breath, glaring at the bastards on his screen. Whoever it was, they seemed very powerful and wouldn’t stop using Rivana to get to them.
"What should we do now?" Callum asked, and everyone seemed clueless now that the mission had hit a dead end. Gale and Desmond were their keys and they lost both of them.
"First, discard the bodies. Search if they had any family members," Ezekiel ordered, and Dawn gestured for a few men to take care of it. After a moment, he murmured, "All we can do is wait for them to make a move again."
Getting up from his seat, he ordered, "Increase security around Rivana. I don’t want even a single bruise on her."
As Dawn nodded, he walked out of the house, followed by Callum.

[Somewhere back in Draxton City]
A man stood by the waves, dressed in all black, his mid-length blonde hair tousling in the gentle sea breeze, creating a shadow over his face. His figure was striking against the vibrant backdrop of the ocean, where the waves crashed gently against the sand. His eyes, sharp and focused, stared into the distance with an intense, thoughtful gaze, fixed on the sun that cast a warm, golden glow over the ocean.
His assistant finished his call and walked back to him. With a victorious smile, he addressed him, "Boss, the mission is a success." Showing a video of two bodies being buried in a graveyard, he continued, "Desmond and Gale have killed themselves. Their bodies are buried in Valencia."
The man curtly nodded, his eyes closed and his hands still in his jacket’s pocket as he bathed in the warm glow. "Ask others to lay low for a few days. Let’s wait for another opportunity to get her," he instructed.
As his assistant nodded and left, he took out a picture of Rivana in her wedding dress from his pocket. He raised it to block the sun and stared at it, his expression darkening with hatred. With a murderous glint shining in his amber eyes, he declared, "You took something precious from me, and it’s time to repay, Azrael."
