Starting With SSS-rank: I Get A New Skill Every Livestream-Chapter 76: Scumbag
When the bus stopped, Kyle had already taken a good nap.
He stretched his arms as he watched the other students file out of the bus, already making their way toward the urinal of all places.
Kyle glanced to his right and found Layena still sleeping soundly. Beyond her, a pair of blue eyes was fixed on him.
He looked up and saw Amanda fidgeting, clearly uncomfortable.
He asked, "Want to go to the restroom?"
Amanda nodded. "Yes...."
"Then go," Kyle suggested.
She groaned. "I can’t leave you alone with her. She is dangerous."
Kyle nearly chuckled at how childish she could be at times.
Shaking his head, he got up from his seat and carefully stepped out of the row, making sure not to disturb his neighbor.
Sighing, he said, "Come on then, let’s go."
A smiling Amanda followed Kyle like a little kitten. Once they were outside, she finally tore her eyes away from him and rushed toward the restroom.
Kyle shook his head as he watched her break into a sprint. She had been holding it in all this time just because she didn’t trust Layena...
Well, that’s Amanda.
He looked around and noticed a couple of convenience stores nearby, all packed with students who had just gotten off the bus.
The teachers stood beside the buses, chatting about something important as they passed papers among themselves.
Kyle first thought of buying something to drink. He had brought his own lunch, so he wasn’t planning to eat anything here, but some soda and candy wouldn’t hurt.
Entering the store, he looked around and noticed a variety of noodles stacked in one corner.
Many students had already started eating, as there was a small dining section inside the store.
Kyle walked over and browsed through the options.
Sweet corn, fried chicken, fish fingers, extra spicy, double pack... there were plenty to choose from.
He couldn’t help but swallow when he saw one that came with extra spice, chicken, eggs, and mushrooms. All his favorites.
However, before he could extend his hand—
[Quest: Hold your urges and do not buy anything above one hundred calories from the shop]
[Reward: 20 SP, Protein Bar x3]
"...." Wow. The system was assigning quests even for this now, huh?
Shaking his head, he lowered his hand and decided not to betray his sandwiches.
He approached the refrigerator and picked out non-caloric drinks. Then he searched for candies and grabbed a corn and cheese flavor pack that was under eighty calories.
"Anything else?" the cashier asked as Kyle placed the items on the counter.
Kyle shook his head, paid, and left the shop.
[Ding! Congratulations, host.]
[You now have a balance of: 1381 SP]
’Look at you, system. Always stingy when it comes to rewarding points for dangerous foes, and here you are, handing them out just because I didn’t eat my favorite food.’
[The system aims to help the host maintain a healthy lifestyle :)]
’Stop smiling,’ he growled, tearing open the candy packet and taking a loud bite.
"Is that even edible?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Kyle flinched. He glanced back to find a dazed Layena standing there, rubbing her head.
"Yeah... want one?" he offered, holding out the packet.
Layena glanced at his other hand before saying, "I’m sure that’ll make my throat dry as a desert..."
"..." Is she asking for some soda too?
You can buy it yourself, missy.
Shaking his head, he handed her some candy along with one of the soda bottles. He wasn’t going to drink both anyway.
Layena accepted them with a small smile. "I’ll send you the money later. Thanks." With that, she headed back to the bus.
Kyle was surprised at how much her behavior toward him had changed just because of the medical supplies he had given her that day.
In the past, Layena wouldn’t even acknowledge his presence. Even during their first real interaction outside the university, she had made it clear she didn’t even remember his name.
But then, her personality seemed to have shifted quite a bit.
"Haah, well." Shrugging, he finished his candy and soda before glancing around.
Amanda was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she had gone to buy something for herself too?
He didn’t wait long, as a familiar pressure began to build in his stomach as well. I need to pee.
Thankfully, by the time he reached the urinal, most of the students had already left.
As he stepped inside, he spotted a familiar face walking out of a cubicle.
"Morning, Professor," Kyle greeted. The man returned the greeting with a nod.
Kyle was about to enter a cubicle himself when a voice cut through the silence.
"You really are a scumbag, aren’t you?"
He paused, surprised. When he entered, he hadn’t sensed Ethan standing in the corner.
But instead of dwelling on that, Kyle spoke, his voice low.
"What did you just say?"
His eyes narrowed as he looked at the golden-haired bitch through the mirror.
"I said... you must be having a fun time getting attention from the two, don’t you? I mean, you didn’t let go of Amanda completely, and now you’re even flirting with Layena. Such a scumbag you’ve always been."
Kyle’s eyes turned cold as he replied, "If even chatting looks like flirting to you, then it’s not really your fault. It just reflects your personality."
Ethan growled, "Watch your tongue, Kyle. I’ve been pretty lenient with you despite all the insults you’ve thrown at my dear friend."
Kyle let out a mocking chuckle. "Talking about Amanda? Last I saw, she was ready to crush her phone just to avoid your calls. How clingy can you be, man."
Ethan fell silent at those words.
Frustration welled up in his chest.
His fist clenched at his side as he took a step closer to Kyle.
The other man didn’t flinch or step back. He simply stood there, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
Ethan locked eyes with him before muttering, "You’ll regret crossing paths with me one day. Before calling someone else pathetic, think about your position in your family."
Kyle let out a short chuckle. "Was that supposed to offend me?"
Ethan gave a low snicker before turning away.
Kyle sighed, watching him leave. Until now, since they hadn’t interacted directly, he had thought Ethan carried a certain mysterious air. Maybe even some level of maturity.
But after this brief exchange, he knew exactly what kind of person he was.
Shrugging it off, he decided to finish his business and return to the bus.
However, the moment he stepped into the cubicle—
DHAK
The door slammed shut before he could even turn. For a split second, Kyle caught sight of Ethan pulling it closed.
"Hey! What the fuck?!" Kyle slammed his hand against the door, but Ethan had already sealed it from the outside.
Clicking his tongue, Kyle grabbed the doorknob, only to jerk his hand back in shock as heat surged through it. The metal began to warp, then melt, sealing the door completely.
Ethan had used magic. Kyle had no way out now.
Stepping back, Ethan spat near the door and muttered, "That’s what happens when someone tries to touch what’s mine. Now rot in there, you asswipe."
