Chapter 1027: You're The Weakest

Ding Hao’s gaze fell upon Li Xiaofei. Just like Sun Fei and the others before him, he gently patted Li Xiaofei on the shoulder. He seemed as though he wanted to say something, but in the end, it turned into a faint sigh.

“You’ve endured much,” he said quietly.

Ding Hao had never imagined that one day, the fate of humanity, his own, as well as that of the other four Emperors, would rest upon someone else’s shoulders. Nor had he ever thought that Li Xiaofei would choose such a path to ascend as an Emperor.

A broad heart can endure what the world cannot accept. A smiling face can laugh at what the world dares not face.

The one who had once brilliantly dazzled the world had now stepped onto the peak in a resolute, unwavering manner, yet it was also a road that led to an ending. If today’s battle truly shattered fate and transcended all limits, how many would truly understand the price Li Xiaofei had paid?

Li Xiaofei smiled in reply. “It was not hard.”

In truth, he had already known what his choice would bring from the very moment he achieved the Dao. The road to becoming an Emperor was beautiful but it was also perilous. Yet the most dangerous moment was not the journey itself, but the very instant one chose which direction to take.

Li Xiaofei had ascended to Emperorship by condensing the collective faith of humanity. It was a natural progression, but it was not the only path. To be an Emperor meant transcending. One was meant to stand above all things from the very moment he achieved the Dao.

But the path Li Xiaofei chose had bound his fate irrevocably to the rise and fall of the human race. Their flourishing would be his, but their ruin also his ruin. If humanity were to ever decline or perish, then he too would fall, body and Dao both annihilated.

His path to becoming an Emperor was dazzling, but that brilliance might, in the blink of an eye, descend into a long and endless night. After meeting with the various Human Emperors, Li Xiaofei had already come to understand everything through their words and expressions. The Emperors admired him, but at the same time, they couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret.

With Li Xiaofei’s talent, intelligence, and extraordinary Fate Qi, he would have certainly become an Emperor if he had taken his time and advanced step by step. That would have been a smooth, majestic Great Dao. It would have been true transcendence. His ultimate achievements would not have fallen short of any of theirs, but he had chosen the path of faith to ascend as an Emperor.

No matter what had happened in the past, the moment Li Xiaofei chose to walk the path of faith, he had indeed fulfilled the phrase. In his lifetime, Xiaofei shall never be lesser than others.

Even Ding Hao and the other four Human Emperors had no choice but to acknowledge that he now stood a step above them. All of it came down to one reason; time waited for no one.

Once the Human Emperors had gathered, they did not pause for rest. They immediately advanced toward the depths of the Land of Annihilation. Old Tan had already led them this far with great difficulty.

But now, with the Emperor-level energy of the Human Emperors reinforcing them, the journey became much easier. Old Tan unleashed his divine abilities, rapidly folding the void of Annihilation upon itself. After several rounds of shuttling through space, they finally arrived at a realm of pure chaos.

The gray mist of Oblivion dispersed as heaven and earth became distinct once more. An endless green plain lay before them. Waist-high grass swayed gently in the wind, rising and falling like soft waves of green, stretching endlessly into the distance. It was serene and deep, with no end in sight. Even the laws of heaven and earth had become clear and stable.

A look of surprise appeared on Li Xiaofei’s face. Everything here closely resembled ancient Earth. Had he not known that this was the very core of the Land of Annihilation, he would have truly believed he had traveled through time and returned to Earth’s primordial era.

The only difference was that no animals existed here. The sound of wind and the rustling grass only made the silence feel even more eerie.

So this is the core region of the Land of Annihilation? thought Li Xiaofei.

In the distance, a solitary sword light hovered in midair. It was suspended in perfect stillness just like a signpost. Li Xiaofei immediately recognized the aura; it belonged to the Sword Immortal Lin Beichen.

Sword Immortal Lin is already here?

The group headed swiftly for the sword light through the boundless grassland.

Several days later, energy fluctuations stirred ahead. Blood from an Emperor stained the sky. Countless strands of sharp sword qi filled the void in every direction.

Li Xiaofei’s heart jolted in shock. He saw Lin Beichen, dressed in white and half-stained with blood, standing tall in the void. Sword light flowed around him, and a massive sword disc revolved at his side, orbiting like a constellation of endless stars. It radiated an overwhelming aura of terrifying might.

He had unleashed his full strength as an Emperor, yet this world flawlessly bore the pressure. Though it appeared to be a realm like primordial Earth, it possessed uniquely supreme and stable laws of existence. Both the void and the earth below could withstand the full impact of an Emperor’s strength.

Li Xiaofei’s gaze shifted again, this time to the figure standing opposite Lin Beichen. His opponent was human. Or rather, it appeared to be a human, a stranger with the outer appearance of one.

His features were unremarkable. He was about one meter seventy, with a round face and short hair. He was slightly overweight, and his skin was not in good condition. Faint dark spots marked his cheeks.

At first glance, he looked like someone who might have once been handsome, but after years of hard labor, sun exposure, and stress, had aged into a chubby, greasy-looking middle-aged man.

There was a faint smile on his face. It carried a trace of confidence and a hint of playful mockery. A solitary sword light hovered at his side. Surprisingly, it bore an uncanny resemblance to Lin Beichen’s own sword intent.

Yet his demeanor was far too calm. There was not a single wound on his body. He floated effortlessly in the air, as though he had merged entirely with this world. The moment Li Xiaofei saw him, he immediately realized who this man was.

He was Oblivion itself. This was the ultimate Demon King feared by humanity, the Reapers, and all peak beings across countless races. Li Xiaofei had once imagined what kind of existence Oblivion might be, and what form it would take when it finally revealed itself. But never had he imagined this. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

“Oh? More help has arrived,” said Oblivion as he glanced casually at Li Xiaofei and the others. His expression remained unchanged; it was that same half-smile tinged with mockery.

Even the arrival of five peak Human Emperors, a lineup powerful enough to shake the heavens and overturn any threat in the universe, failed to stir the slightest ripple in his heart.

Li Xiaofei moved. In an instant, he appeared beside Lin Beichen, standing shoulder to shoulder with him. Almost at the same moment, Ding Hao, Li Mu, Sun Fei, and Ye Qingyu also positioned themselves alongside Lin Beichen.

The six Human Emperors stood together in a line across the void. This was the strongest formation in the history of the human race and perhaps even the most powerful lineup ever assembled in the known universe.

Lin Beichen let out a long breath. The bloodstains on his white robe gradually faded as his wounds slowly began to heal. Even the wind seemed to fall silent across heaven and earth.

“I watched the five of you grow from specks of dust in the stars to the peak of your race,” Oblivion said quietly. “Your fascinating journeys once filled the long, tedious emptiness of my existence. I even understand you better than your friends and family. Even better than your parents.”

There was a trace of wistfulness in his tone. The five he spoke of did not include Li Xiaofei. When his gaze finally fell on Li Xiaofei, it deepened with curiosity.

“They’ve all been waiting for you,” he said. “I saw through your first two lives, but I could never glimpse this one. Now that they’ve welcomed your arrival, I too have waited for you. But I must say... I’m a little disappointed.

“You... what change can you bring to this battle of destiny? You are the weakest among the six. Can you truly surprise me?”
