Chapter 1028: The Battle Of The Emperors

Li Xiaofei's expression remained utterly calm. He had long become immune to such goading, even when they came from the mouth of Oblivion itself.

Besides, in his heart, Ding Hao and the other five Human Emperors were his seniors, the ones who had walked this path before him. It was only natural that their strength surpassed his.

He quietly studied Oblivion. Li Xiaofei could not sense even the slightest threat from this being. Oblivion’s appearance was plain and unremarkable, his posture relaxed as he floated in the void.

He was like a gust of wind, a drifting cloud, or a speck of dust. He had fused with the cosmos itself, becoming a seamless part of the heavens and the earth.

Li Xiaofei found himself unable to summon even a trace of hostility toward him. And yet, Oblivion had wounded the Sword Immortal Lin Beichen earlier. It was enough proof of the terror he embodied.

Whoosh.

A streak of sword qi tore through the sky as Lin Beichen struck once more.

The battle destined for this day had long been set in stone. There was nothing left to say.

There was only a battle to the death.

Blades of sword light from across the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths tore through the void. Oblivion became encircled in an endless storm of silver sword light. There were swords from the present, the past, and even the future. Each strike carried enough force to wound an Emperor.

When the Sword Immortal made his move, he was nothing short of terrifying.

Oblivion smiled faintly, but he didn’t move. Violet energy began to ripple around his body. Like shattered amethyst crystals, they radiated a devastating kind of beauty. The purple light spread outward, dissolving the very fabric of space around him.

In an instant, half the void had been ground down into violet dust, as though the entire world would be buried beneath this single hue.

Silver sword light clashed with violet radiance, releasing endless peals of Dao resonance. This was the pinnacle of Dao law confrontation. Countless laws shattered, were annihilated, reborn, and then destroyed again. At this level of battle, even a stray ripple of energy could destroy a galaxy.

Sun Fei silently unleashed his Emperor energy. Holy light bloomed across his body. Golden ripples spread out from beneath his feet like waves on water, releasing immeasurable divine energy to resist the creeping waves of violet annihilation.

At the same time, six beams of holy light descended from the heavens, blessing each of the six Emperors. Li Xiaofei instantly felt the energy within him surge. His Emperor energy skyrocketed as he entered a state of unprecedented intensity.

This was Sun Fei’s Holy Knight Mode. The divine light he bestowed not only boosted the combat strength of his allies but also granted partial immunity to damage and accelerated healing. It was, without a doubt, a divine technique made for group warfare.

At that very moment, Ding Hao made his move as well. He wielded a demon saber in his left hand, and a rusted sword in his right. Golden and silver sword intents surged in perfect balance. Chains of gold and silver weaved through the air like endless tendrils, seeking to entangle Oblivion. Meanwhile, Ding Hao himself charged into close combat range. Sabers flashed and swords danced as heaven and earth was saturated with killing intent.

Ye Qingyu thrust his long spear forward in a sudden strike. The spear’s radiance ignored the boundaries of time and space. The moment it was launched, it pierced straight through Oblivion’s body.

Li Mu followed up with a single saber strike from midair. His blade light cleaved the heavens and the earth in two. The five Human Emperors attacked nearly in unison, holding nothing back.

Li Xiaofei did not hesitate in the slightest either. The Heart of Guardianship transformed into a blade and a sword, manifesting in his hands. He activated his Dual Sacred Body of Blade and Sword. With one slash, he tore open the space before him and cut through the violet glow, arriving directly before Oblivion.

In that instant, a saber, sword, and spear all shredded Oblivion’s body. Violet fragments scattered, and ignited the void itself. Li Xiaofei’s weapons also sank into Oblivion’s body, yet his expression showed no relief.

It felt as though his blades had struck empty space. There was no sensation of impact nor feedback. If Oblivion could be slain so easily, Ding Hao and the others would not have spent so many years planning this encirclement.

Li Xiaofei surged with Emperor energy and activated the Heart of Guardianship. A hundred and eight thousand, eight hundred and eighty-eight points of light erupted outward like burning stars, forming a saturation-style attack that spared no direction.

The light incinerated everything in its path. Even the void was reduced to ashes, collapsing into nothingness before being rapidly reborn. The laws of space in the Land of Annihilation were unique and incomparably stable. Had this strike occurred in the outside world, it likely would have annihilated hundreds of star systems.

A few breaths later, Li Xiaofei opened his palm. In an instant, the hundred and eight thousand, eight hundred and eighty-eight points of light converged, becoming a radiant source of brilliance in his hand.

Ding Hao, Lin Beichen, and the other three appeared beside him, standing side by side. Their expressions were calm yet solemn. All of them stared forward.

Violet light shimmered in the distance as Oblivion slowly reappeared. His body had been torn apart by the six Human Emperors. For any other living being, even one at the Emperor Realm, such an invasion of celestial-level force would have already reduced them to ashes. Yet Oblivion remained unchanged. The faint smile on his face had not faded in the slightest.

"How interesting." There was delight in Oblivion’s smile as he spoke, "Five plus one is greater than six; is this the power of your human Fate Qi? Haha. The six of you have gathered nearly all of humanity’s Fate Qi and stand at the very peak of your race. So when you come together, you wield the strength of your entire people. It almost rivals my sister from the old days. But what a pity... it still isn’t enough."

Oblivion’s gaze swept across the six of them as he continued, "If my sister were here in person, perhaps I wouldn’t be able to survive. But you... you’re not her."

A ripple stirred in Li Xiaofei’s heart, Who is this sister he mentioned? Someone even stronger than him?

Oblivion continued, "Though it may sound like the usual arrogant line every villain says, I still have to say it. If this is all the strength you’ve brought, then your so-called battle of destiny that you planned for years... ends here."

As he finished speaking, a strange smile spread across his face.

Boom.

Lin Beichen’s body suddenly exploded. Emperor blood drenched the skies. At that very moment, Ding Hao, Sun Fei, Li Mu, and Ye Qingyu all suffered injuries of varying degrees.

Faint traces of deep violet flickered across their bodies like distant starlight. It corroded their flesh, eroded their Emperor-level Dao laws, and even polluted their spiritual worlds.

Li Xiaofei was no exception. The wound was strange, since the violet annihilation energy seemed to originate from within him. It erupted without warning, directly invading his limbs and bones. In the blink of an eye, Li Xiaofei felt his body teeter on the verge of collapse.

A battle between Emperors was truly perilous beyond imagination. Li Xiaofei activated the Heart of Guardianship. Dao laws surged, and the power of faith swept through his entire body, cleansing the violet annihilation force in an instant.

At the same time, a radiant golden light burst from Sun Fei’s body. His Holy Knight Mode flared as sacred light purged the annihilation energy from his body at remarkable speed.

Ye Qingyu, Ding Hao, and Li Mu each employed their own divine arts and secret techniques to heal and suppress the invading energy. But even so, the six of them had already suffered a hidden loss just from the first clash.

The worst part was that they had no idea how or when they were struck. Emperor blood converged in the void. Lin Beichen’s body also reassembled, but his strength had clearly diminished after suffering the destruction of his physical body.

Even an Emperor, upon being slain once, would pay a steep price to return. The situation was far from favorable for the six Human Emperors.
